My name is. Chris and my daughter and I are ready to make a complete lifestyle change, conquering our goals together!! I have about 50 pounds to shed and looking to just simply feel better.

Ok...can you please break this down for us!!! We are brand new and got the basics but having struggles navigating the app and just trying to figure it out....any good advice?1

put your stats in and tell how much you'd like to lose each week - 1-2 lbs is the usual recommendation then see what MFP recommends. Try that for a couple weeks and then adjust up or down as needed.1

kdbulger is so right about the value of having company on your journey!
MFP is a useful app for tracking your what you eat, the approximate number of calories burned via exercise, to help you track the results of your actions and set your goals.
My suggestion (for whatever that's worth -- take it or leave it!) is to tackle that complete lifestyle change, one change at a time. Get one change made and solidified as a habit over several weeks, and then tackle a next change. For a lifestyle change rather than a crash diet, slow and steady has been the ticket for me. So, if that sounds useful to you, you might pick something like simply working on weighing/measuring your food intake and logging it (and if that feels overwhelming, maybe start by doing this for a meal a day, like breakfast, and then add to that).
If you have $15-20 to spend on it, a digital food scale with a "tare" function (see examples here) will make MFP more effective for you, as weight is the most accurate way to figure out how much you are consuming.
