There is whole lot to learn on this subject. Here is a website that will give you all the info you need regarding your thyroid and the tests you need to have done:

Sooooo I'm just interested to see when and how people with an under-active thyroid are taking their meds and if they have seen a change by taking your meds at differemt times?

I have recently started taking my 75mg just before I go to bed and a good 4 hours after eating and I have lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks! I've always previously taken them first thing in the morning but having read an article on the internet about how calcium, vitamins, caffeine and high fibre foods all effect the effectiveness of Levothyroxine I thought I would try shifting to taking them in the evening. I'm not sure whether this is due to my fasted am workouts or the shift in when I take the levothyroxine? anyone had similar results?

Do you remember the type of testing they did to see about your Hypothyroidism? The women in my family all had either hyper, or hypo and were on meds for it as well. I need to have mine checked, again because I was told that many Drs. do a simple test that rarely show any symptoms, and that I most likely had and under-active Thyroid. So I was thinking that if I knew the type of test you or any of the posters had, then perhaps I could have the correct one done this time.

The type of tests they should run include t3 ,t4, free t3, free t4, and TSH. They all indicate how much thyroid in is actually In the bloodstream, how it's being converted and how it's being absorbed. Many dr's only measure TSH which is thyroid stimulating hormone but that doesn't actually show how much or what the body is actually absorbing. I for years took synthetic t4, the standard replacement, but continued to feel symptomatic for years! After finding a new dr. and getting these tests done it showed that my body wasn't converting the t4 (inactive form) to t3(active form) and that I needed to take a med with t3 included. Very complicated bodily processes, someone recommended the book and website: Stop The Thyroid Madness. Excellent resource for all thyroid sufferers.

I'm on .150 Synthroid. I used to take first thing in the morning with a sip of water. After reading some posts in a FB thyroid group, I switched to taking it right before bed. I feel great since switching it up. I have been hypo for 19 years and I have never felt better.

I had always taken mine first thing in the morning, but after reading some of the other posters I might switch it to night.

I'm on .375mcg (.3 mcg and three .025mcg at the same time) of
    Synthroid.
I was born without a thyroid and have always taken my meds first thing in the morning.
Taking them any other time of the day won't have the right affect. Also, taking them with any type of vitamin is basically counteracting your medication to some extent.
Every specialist I've gone to has told me this, even to the extent of never taking it with orange juice because of the vitamin D.
