It honestly depends on your goals, and what you like. I personally think that whatever goals you have, you can reach them better with some form of progressive strength training, whether it be with body weight, or lifting in the gym.

    tl:dr version:
    Lift

nothing more to add to this thread other than LIFT.
you may find that you enjoy it.
you may find that you LOVE it.
you may find that you become obsessed with it.
you may find that you hate it and that its not for you.

however, you will not find out anything about it if you dont give it a shot.

    show of hands...

ladies in this thread who tried lifting and fell in love with it...

I've been lifting for almost 2 years consistently. It's the only thing I have been able to be consistent with.

And yeah, to show that scale weight isn't anything, a little self-promotion:

Does lifting inhibit fat loss? Of course not. So why is it even a question?

I've been lifting about three months now (NROL4W) and I can tell you it's causing serious problems in my life. My clothes are all baggy and my boyfriend will *not* keep his hands off of me! Plus it really annoys my coworkers when I workout at lunch and come back from the gym ready to take on the world.

If for no other reason, weight bearing exercise helps prevent osteoporosis in women. It's actually good for you.

    If you're physically able, lift.

    *raises hand*

    OP- Lift!

I would also suggest finding a solid tested program so your not wandering around wondering what you should be doing.

Anyone who is on my FL knows it's all Food and Working out, and that working out usually focuses on lifting.

I've lost 70lbs in the last year, all the while lifting heavy weights. There is no reason on earth it would stall your fat loss progress. Eating too much will stall (or reverse) your fat loss. Use your diet to control your fat loss, and exercise for health/performance.
