What remaining number are you talking about?0

So there is
Your goal - food - exercise - remaining0 -
That's how much you have left to eat, or how many calories you have gone over.
You are meant to eat back your exercise calories. That's why you log exercise separately.
1800(food)+200(exercise)=2,000 calories.0 -
I've found exercise calories to be given out too generously so I dont eat them4

but isn't even eating a portion better than eating none back...i mean seriously - i know i burn calories running so i'm just going to not eat back because i think the estimate might be wrong...1

I gauge how I'm feeling. What my body needs vs. What I want. I look at trend of weight fluctuations over a period of time. I concentrate on getting protein. I summed it up as I just dont eat them but it's not as simple as that.1 -

There is no shame in not eating back exercise calories. I rarely eat mine back as well. You keep doing what works for you.3 -

which if you use MFP calorie goals means you are undereating and not fueling your body - as those calorie recommendations DO NOT take purposeful exercise into calorie goals1 -

unfortuantely you can feel great at low calories until its too late and you have done damage to your body through underfueling2 -

Get ready for some disagrees. Apparently this upsets people. I think you said it perfectly...do what works for you.1 -

Agree with a caviot. Is it a program or diet or are you maintaining or recompositioning....2 -
If you want to use MFP in the way it was intended, then you should eat them back. All of them, if they're fairly accurate, or perhaps only partially if the numbers are inflated.
Not eating them back is a good or bad idea depending on several factors:
- how many calories you burn through exercise/how much you exercise
- at what rate your weight loss is set
- how much weight you have left to lose
Someone who has their weight loss set at 2lbs/week and is burning 500 calories on average per day through exercise: very bad idea to not eat back exercise calories.
Someone who has 30 lbs left to lose, has their weight loss set at 0.5lbs/per week and burns 250 calories per day on average through exercise: a totally different situation if this person doesn't eat back their exercise. They would arrive at a 500 kcal deficit per day (1lb/week), which is reasonable for how much they still have to lose.
I think the key is to avoid a deficit that is too aggressive for the weight left to lose.
PS: I usually eat back all of my calories, unless I have to do 'silly things' to do so. If I've gone for a long jog and I've already had half a tub of Ben & Jerry's, I'm not going to stuff my face some more to eat a few hundred remaining caloriesBut I still have 30lbs to lose and I've set my weight loss rate at 0.5lbs/week, so it's not a disaster if I undereat one day.

Well, depends on the person obviously. I wasnt trying to give advice. In my scenario I'm working on losing fat still.1 -
Weird??? Why did the responses get deleted?
Thanks @GymGoddessGoals I've been working on it for over a year. 😘0 -
they likely got flagged and deleted by mods for being outside MFP guidelines or moved to their own thread (because of hijacking)2
