    Last week 195.2
    Today 195.2

I’d love to be able to record a loss for this week, especially when I was more than a pound less just yesterday. I’m going to keep on keeping on and trust the scale will catch up.

We’re having gorgeous spring-like weather here in New England. I’m going to take advantage and make it an outside chore day — too busy to snack and a big dinner will have been earned.

Slowly creeping toward my mini goal of 210.
This morning I weighed in at 211.5... about a 2 pound loss after colonoscopy... sorry if it’s too much information. 🤣

    Happy Thursday friends!

Hope you had fun in the yard! I plan on heading back outside this afternoon when it gets into the 50’s. It was a frosty 29 degrees this morning walking Roxie.

Roxie is the best partner in walking. She gets me up every morning to walk. Today we were out by 5:30am at 29 degrees. She loves to roll around in the frosty grass. She can’t wait for the snow!

    Happy Saturday!

It's Sunday which means it's Scales Day!
The Scaly Beast was set loose to wreak its havoc and deliver its verdict...

    Weight was 305.8....Now 306.8....Gained 1 lb

A bit gutted but not too surprised. I made a couple of suspect entries this week including one last night that I just didn't believe and ate more than I should have.

Well there is nothing I can do about last week so time to forget it and start again with renewed vigour.
I am determined to try to reach 299 lbs by 6th December!

    Sunday Funday

    Two Weeks Ago: 196.4
    Last Week: 195.2
    Today: 195.0

Not much of a weekly drop to hoot about BUT I did the measurements thing and am thrilled. Since starting this journey on August 12 (13.5 weeks), I’ve lost 15 lbs and 20 inches!

My goal for this week is to avoid the ‘one more bite’ trap. I find myself eating my meal and being content, but then finishing the last little bit of this or that while cleaning up.

hello, I am a sugar junkie! what is everyone's solution for the sugar cravings? I've been like that all my life. I am not diabetic but have family members who are (2 generations ago) so I don't want to go down that road. Any suggestions are welcome!!

This doesn't work for everyone (but I've seen others beyond me say it also did help them), but . . .

It helped me to make it a point to get a minimum of 3 servings of fresh/frozen fruit every day. After doing that for a while, my cravings for less nutritious sweets (cookies, candy, etc.) were reduced a lot. Eventually, I could be more flexible about daily fruit (though I always eat some 😋). Long term, a lot of the simpler low-nutrition sweets (grocery store cookies and such) actually started not seeming all that tasty when I tried them - way *too* sweet, and no interesting flavor complexities.

    YMMV.

@AnnPT77 thanks for the tip! I was having fruit in the morning, but was thinking that might be triggering the cravings. Maybe I'll try to have a piece of fruit after dinner as "dessert" so my body thinks it's getting a treat. We'll give that a try! thank you!!

I like pickles (not just cucumber ones, but also other veg), raw sauerkraut (not canned, which is more mushy), raw veggies with seasoned salt (especially cucumber, jicama, hakurei turnips).

I've also found certain kinds of quite-salty strongly-seasoned things will scratch that itch for me, in smaller quantities. A couple are (1) puppodums, a tortilla-sized South Asian thing that comes as a flat disk, and can be microwaved, which makes it puffy/wrinkly and crisp (the brand I get is 20 calories each, and somewhat spicy as well as salty), and (2) pasta para duros, a wagon wheel shaped pasta that's popular in Latin america, and which can be found plain (I get them in my big grocery store's bulk area); I take a few, dampen, dip in popcorn salt + chili powder, then microwave - they, too, puff up and get crispy. Both these things are traditionally deep-fried in their home cultures, but respond well to microwaving. However, gotta watch them, as they go from perfect to burnt very quickly! (It's a short trip through the microwave, 30-60 seconds, so easy to watch.)

    But that's just me.

Thanks for the fun advice Ann!
I’m a huge fan of pickles, too! The others sound intriguing... I’ll have to try them.

    Pickles for the win!

I struggle with wanting something salty, then sweet, which brings me back to salty. My go to guilty pleasure has been a Dove dark chocolate square with a spoonful of peanut butter and just a dash of salt. It's so worth the 130-ish calories, and it's amazing how long I can make this little snack last by taking a small bite of the square dipped in the pb and just letting it melt in my mouth. Almost as long as it takes hubby to eat his bowl of ice cream

Yeah, "sensory specific satiety" - a thing that's been a challenge in my eating life, too. I've had a tendency to cycle between a sweet thing, then a savory/salty thing, then a sweet thing. Choosing the appropriate things, or interrupting the cycle before it's out of hand, or just not letting the cycle as such start - any of those can be a help.

    Sunday Funday

    Two Weeks Ago: 195.2
    Last Week: 195.0
    Today: 194.0

Goals for this week: I was more mindful of the 'one more bite' habit this past week but there's certainly room for improvement. I'll continue to work on that, and I need to consciously increasing my water intake. I have lots of little tips stored up for doing so, now I just need to put them to use. Walks with the dog aren't daily but more so than they've been in a very long time--that feels good!

I've kind of given up on regular check-ins. I stay so busy that I forget to check in. But, on a brighter note, at least I'm not gaining any back - staying steady or losing a tiny bit at a time. Good luck to all you guys and here's praying you have a great Thanksgiving holiday.
