Back in for 2nd round since coming back. Goals are to get under 165.0 and be there for at least 5 out of the 10 weigh ins. Also drink more water and stay away from fast food. We will see how it goes. Ended last round at 169.0
08/25 - 168.3 down a little bit from yesterday, so I will take it. Brought my lunch and breakfast to work this morning, so no excuses to grab lunch out today. Did great until I got home last night and we decided to make steak fajitas for dinner. Probably had a little more guacamole and chips then I should have, but I will keep working at it.
08/26 - 167.4 At least it is continuing to go down. Really wanted to be lower this morning, but I guess I will be happy with where I am. Brought my lunch and breakfast to work again this morning, so no excuses to eat out. Dinners still aren't great, but I am really looking to get under 165 at this point. I can't believe I gained 30 pounds in 7 months. It will probably take me 18 months to lose it, lol.
08/27 - 166.4 Met all my goals yesterday and even turned down McDonald's for dinner. The hubby and I went four wheeling in the mountains with our new Jeep and then decided to pick dinner up. Guess where the kids wanted to eat? Everybody ordered food, but I decided to go home and eat left overs from the night before. I did eat a couple of fries off the kids plates, but way better than it could have been. Getting closer to my goal, so we will see how the rest of the week plays out. All 3 meals are planned for today already so we should be good on that front.
08/28 - 166.4 Fridays use to be my official weigh-in day, but I will start that next week. Stuck to my plan yesterday, probably had a little to much soy sauce on my rice for dinner, but only had a small portion and didn't go back for seconds even though I could have. First full week back on track and I am ok with where I am at this point. Last time I was super strict and over did it. This time if it takes me a little longer I am ok with that. I want to be able to sustain instead of feeling restricted.
08/29 - 163.1 Nice! I did an unintentional 24 hr fast yesterday so I am expecting a bounce up tomorrow, but a happy today. I was slammed at work all day and realized I hadn't eaten anything around 3. I get off at 4 so there was no reason to eat my lunch at that point. So I waited until I got home. I then found out that DH had eaten lunch at 4 because he was slammed and had some errands for us to run. So we didn't get home till well after 8. I just went to bed at that point as I was exhausted from the week and did not feel like cooking.
08/30 - 165.8 I figured that this would happen. Ate normal yesterday, but not some of the best food choices. We went 4 wheeling in the new Jeep again (my husband is obsessed) with both of our girls and then stopped off at a local burger place to eat lunch. I tried to stay away from the fries, but did have a couple. Then had a light dinner of cheesy potato skins, probably not my best option, but it's what I went with.
08/31 - 164.2 Had to go up to my MIL house and do some work. She made breakfast burritos (egg, potato & green chile) for us around 11. We got back home at 5 and neither one of us were hungry. My husband had multiple cookies with milk and I had a big glass of water and a pickle. I am hoping I am lower tomorrow. I am sure the salt from the pickle added to my weigh in this am. If I can end the round at 163.xx I will be happy. That means I would have lost 6 pounds my first week back. I know the next round won;t be as good or as much, but I will be happy with this one.
09/01 - 165.0 a little bummed I had a small uptick, but maybe it's because of the carbs I had yesterday. I stayed under my goal, but it was more than usual. To make my goal I have to get back under 165.0 and stay there the next 2 days. Still hoping to get back down and end this round at 163.xx. Went to the store and stocked my fridge at work up with salad, veggies, and breakfast stuff. Leaving no reason for me to eat out.

@quiltingjaine Thank you! I remember seeing this chart 2 years ago when I started and had completely forgotten about it. I am starting my second week of staying on track and maybe this explains my little uptick today. I drank a ton of water yesterday.

@Hilogirl2018 Losing parents is so hard. My husband lost both grandparents and his father all within the last 13 months. He is still trying to get through it. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your hubby!

A friend brought a gorgeous big vine-ripened cantaloup yesterday — mmmmm. Also tomatoes and peppers. I see a beautiful salad in my future! 🥗 We’re under a heat advisory today and it’s already hot, so I’m not walking unless it cools down this evening, but I can garden in spurts and run in to cool off. I’m also refinishing some nightstands & end tables & trying to decide on a color for our bedroom, which I want to repaint — plenty to do! Have a great week, all!

I don’t know why I had to have ice cream last night. Maybe the hot hot day, but that’s just a flimsy excuse. Still, I hit my calorie goal, if barely. No walk — a friend came over and we sat out in the garden to catch up and enjoy the beautiful evening. Not bad, all in all.

Food, glorious food, and way too much of it. The ice cream was definitely emotional, and of course I know that giving in only makes me feel worse. What was so depressing, you might wonder? I’m trying to choose a paint color for our bedroom. Gaaaa! I want something cheery to wake me happy in the morning. Yellow or green, but holy cow, it’s hard to find the right one! So I have 5 different colors painted in patches on all four walls, and still haven’t decided! So, ice cream. Ha! Compared to events in other parts of the country, my petty concerns are nothing, I know. I hope everyone here is safe.

Better yesterday, food wise. I found my yellow and the painters come Monday. Yay! I can’t wait to get rid of the dark blue-gray we inherited. (It may have looked better when new, but I find it depressing). Now I’m on the prowl for some new artwork to brighten it up, and a small pedestal table to paint to match the nightstand I painted a soft white. Trying to wake up cheerful! That helps me not want to gobble everything in sight. (See, this is on topic!)

I can’t believe it’s the end of August. Yikes! Painters are here today to paint our bedroom and the hallway. So happy to see the last of the dark, dull blue-gray. Nice color in the right room, but depressing in a north-facing room with a small window — for me, at least. It was enough to make me snack snack snack! 😜

The painters did a great job and our hallway and bedroom are brighter & more cheerful. Sunny! We did have a bit of a scare, though. They left around 4, and after a while we realized our cat, Mike, hadn't come out. Between about 5 - 11, I searched the house, and DH and I both walked the neighborhood. I was frantic by 11. Then we heard a tiny voice....somewhere. It took a while to realize he was behind the vent cover! He must have hopped in there to hide and got locked in. No idea why it took him 7 hours to speak up! He was pretty shook up when he came out and I was in tears — I was really afraid he’d gotten out, and he’s never been out in his life. Anyway, all is well now and he’s back to normal. The painter, a cat guy, was appalled. I was actually proud of myself for not eating everything in sight for comfort!

@tiabirdie56 It's so hard to pass on bread--or really anything made primarily from flour and sugar! I broke the habit years ago by making galettes. https://shopdukandiet.com/pages/recipes-oat-bran-galette This recipe shows how you can make them into pancakes or there is a savory version to substitute for bread for sandwiches. I used to make a few batches at once so it didn't seem too laborious. Shows a lot of ways you can change it up depending on if you have a sweet tooth or not at the time! Are they as good or better than bread and pastries? Absolutely NOT! But good and filling it you are cutting back on addictive, non-nutritional carbs. Hope this helps!3

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

08/25 - 79.1kg, I've started CICO again since Sunday and feeling good!
08/26 - 78.5kg, I'm seeing a lot of dropping very quickly but I feel like it'll creep up a little or plateau very soon. Likely losing a lot of water weight but it feels good regardless!
08/27 - 78.4kg, happy to still see a decrease. I've been sticking to my calorie limits but probably not drinking as much water as I should
08/28 - 78.5kg, as expected the initial water weight probably fell off and now balancing out. Staying strong!
08/29 - didn't weigh as I had a night away from home. Didn't count calories on 28th or today
08/30 - 79.4kg, didn't count Friday/Saturday so I'm not surprised, also low water intake and a bit of alcohol so everything is out of whack. Back to it today, hopefully see a better number tomorrow

08/26 193.4 I have to take a break from running due to stupid plantar faciitis which is super depressing. BUT I'm doing a 30 day no alcohol challenge and I'm interested to see if that makes it easier to lose. So far I miss my glass of wine while cooking but some days are easier than others. I am going to try to get back into lifting at the gym since I can't run, I tried the elliptical on Monday but foot hurt for two days after so probably gonna give that one some more time still. 08/27 194.0 well the scale was up today, but my BF % was down so that means there's a little water weight hanging around . I'm still on a downward trend and getting ready for TOM so a momentary blip is expected. Still sleeping in the dreaded night splint, I had less foot pain today so maybe I can hit the gym tomorrow and avoid a flare up. Calories were over yesterday by 400 due to chocolate snack after dinner, did I mention TOM? Upping the water today.

Been making myself go for walks (or do workout videos) when my hurtin' body would rather say "No." Because my BMR is so low, I've been really cognizant of what is going in my mouth (and I'm not putting something in there-out of sheer boredom!) I've decided that I really don't enjoy exercising all that much! But, I've seen so much improvement in how my clothes fit over the past 15 days, that I'm NOT giving up now! 8/25: 227.6 (+0.4)/19.3 (0.0). Alright. I need to get this under control. I talked with my wife last night and asked that she stop accepting "outside food," particularly from her family. My sister-in-law visited on Sunday, and my in-laws sent chile rellenos with her. She also brought banana bread that she made from scratch. I love my wife's family, but them inundating me with food just throws me off. It's like they communicate love with food. I drew my line in the sand with my; I NEED to be in control of MY food. When I'm not in control of my food, something happens inside of me. I have been REALLY disciplined since I've been back, and I have been REALLY happy with the progress I have made in such a short time. But when I feel "forced" to do something different, particularly when it's multiple times in a week, it sends me down the road of "losing my mojo." I'm not going to let that happen; if that means me throwing away food that we have been "given," so be it. My health has to be more important than whether or not I eat something that someone gives to me unannounced. I guess what I'm getting at is that it would be easier for me if "people" were just told that I am really focusing on my health right now, and that I do NOT want ANYONE to give me ANYTHING. I COULD do that... but my wife doesn't want me to (for various reasons... mostly worried that she's going to hurt someone else's feelings). She would need to be the person that communicates this information to her family, but she's either reluctant or unwilling to do so. I have got to figure this out, because I like what's happening with me since I returned to this group. I want to continue my good habits. I'm going to go home tonight and do strength training; my body is still a little sore from what I did a few days ago, but I am going to "suck it up" and work through it tonight.

As I say this, I have to acknowledge that my previous sentence is nonsense. Since July 18th, I have worked really hard to eliminate some long-term bad habits (particularly in the evening-snack department) that have made keeping a decent waistline absolute hell. What I have been experiencing in the past few days is not some brand-new bad habit; it's a resurgence of something that is all-too-familiar. I think it's important that I remember that. I also need to keep in mind that I am in no way giving up, and I am making progress. I still haven't worked out since earlier this week; my back was really hurting yesterday. That being said, I'm going to give it another shot today. Wish me luck!

I had a few cashews yesterday (six I think), but I found something else to snack on that I was able to control a bit better. Despite my previous setback(s), I still think I'm doing great. I am WAY into seeing my trendline, but I still really like seeing a good weigh-in. This morning was satisfying. I'm 0.2 away from my recent low. THAT being said, my brother-in-law and his girlfriend are coming over today, and my parents are coming over tomorrow, so it's going to take some serious planning to get out of this weekend anywhere near the weight I have today. Honestly, if I'm at 226.0 on Monday morning, I'll consider the weekend a pretty rousing success. I'm going to lift weights this morning, and I'll do some rowing machine tomorrow morning. That should offset some of the badness I'll be doing to myself this weekend.

08/25 231.8 Though I walked 3.36 miles yesterday morning my Apple watch did NOT consider it exercise LOL Stopping to talk to neighbors, dog potty, dropping off book at library, light at intersection and not using pause on the watch when stopping … I guess it thinks I strolled too much. Overall I did get 12300 steps total yesterday. Today I must walk more purposefully!

Setup up my September habits diagram again for tracking stepping on scale, water, exercise, alcohol free, tracking food, & vitamins. 08/27 - 144.5 - OK, I'm trending lower this week.
08/28 - 145.5 - Sigh. I've tracked my food all week and stayed within weight loss calories. I did start a cardio routine this week, so I'm hoping this is some DOMS. Also, I've been eating watermelon which, although low in calories, is high in sugar and carbs. I have a patio birthday party for my daughter on Sunday and my husband is making meatball subs for supper tonight, so I'm going to have to really watch what I eat the rest of the weekend along with drinking ALL the water.
08/29 - 144.5 - I did not want to weigh this morning. I woke up with swollen fingers from the sodium last night. I was so surprised when I saw my weight I checked again on my other scale. The watermelon and meatballs are all gone now and I'll just plan for a cupcake at my daughter's party tomorrow.
08/30 - 142.5 - Well, whoosh! I've been at this long enough to know it will bounce back up, but this really helps my trend line.
08/31 - 143.5 - It's all good, today I'll be carefully tracking my food and drinking water.
09/01 - 143.5 - I'm very happy this stuck today.

08/28 197.4 I stayed in a deficit yesterday (612 calories in deficit according to MFP and Fitbit combined), but had a lot of carbs. The next few days will indicate if this is a real gain or if it's water.
08/29 197.2 Ate at maintenance yesterday. I figure any day I lose or maintain is a great day. The scale might fluctuate, but eating at maintenance or at a deficit is within my control.

I hit my water goal yesterday, was pretty good with food, only over 38 cals (and it felt like not a lot of food, I was quite hungry almost all day). Took 2 walks. I don't know what else it could be.

Previous Day's Comments08/25 - Quite alright. Starting off with a sodium bump. BF made dinner last night and apparently the flow restriction top of the worcestershire sauce came off while he was adding it, only to dump a bit too much in there and could taste the extra saltiness of it. Focusing on water today, again, and finding activity to get moving. Didn't sleep well at all, though my fitbit says I had the best sleep in a long while. Obviously false as it read I was in "REM" but I definitely looked at the time and was awake during that period. Hoping I can wake up fully and enough to not be lazy and dragging all day.
08/26 - Little tick down. Dinner was a bit heavy, taco bell recreations. Surprised I dropped any at all. Water wasn't too great and no activity. Work got really crazy and I have a feeling work is going to get crazy again today but I have a workout date with Fam this morning to offset the madness.
08/27 - Yay, another drop and now at goal weight for the round -- challenge is to keep it at or under this. Today is my Friday since I don't work Fridays and therefore a nice long weekend to screw things up if I'm not careful/diligent. I ALMOST reached my goal for water but also gave myself a bit of a stomach ache with all the water I was drinking after a very filling dinner. Plus, I didn't want to have to wake up and use the bathroom. I have issues with insomnia enough without bodily functions adding to it. Goal is to get a walk in today.
08/28 - Whoosh! That was entirely unexpected, especially since I went back for seconds on the homemade chicken tikka marsala at dinner. First round was with some basmati rice, second was toned down with just the chicken in sauce/gravy. But, as usual with Indian food, I figured I'd gain. Guess it wasn't as calorie-laden as I thought(I looked up various recipes for it online and averaged them for dinner)? My estimated calories were barely under goal and I didn't end up getting the walk in I wanted due to work being hectic so I'm really surprised. Just barely hit my goal of 4 water bottles (16.4oz steel bottle - Save the Earth!) but I need to find a way to sneak in an extra 10oz to hit my rounded half-body weight in oz goal. Just happy I was able to get the 4 bottles in finally [insert happy dance]! Let's see if I can get through the weekend and maintain. Back on my IF attempt (its so hard to do on weekends and today is part of my weekend).
08/29 - Not unexpected. Dinner out due to a sudden change in plans and it was very carby. Also cheesy so that induced bloating due to my sensitivity to lactose. Also a couple beers over the day instead of my usual 1 with dinner. Missed my 64oz water goal by about 7oz. All good, as long as I can overcome it through the remainder of the weekend.
08/30 - Dehydration water retention. Unexpected trip to the river to beat the heat in some water. Besides my body holding on to water from being in it for hours, I didn't have much water to drink. My one water bottle emptied quickly and only a couple cans of sparkling water were brought (I was told there was water, just not told there was very little and we had 2 young kids that need it, too). Didn't have much at all breakfast wise, was still a bit hungry after my small on the go. Lunch was nonexistent so almonds and beer nuts at the river was all I had to snack on. Dinner was large homemade beef and venison burgers which made me feel quite heavy and full. At least I don't feel overly bloated, just waterlogged. Hopefully that means a nice quick drop once I drink enough water -- focusing on that today. Going to attempt to replant my veggies in my raised garden bed today. Right now they're sitting in pots inside the garden bed. Storms last weekend prevented me from getting it done, but it desperately needs it.
08/31 - Ouch... As much as I tried drinking water yesterday, I couldn't keep up. We cleaned out the garage, got rid of stuff. Had to reorganize the shed to fit stuff from garage into shed. BF trying to convert his garage into his office so we can get a dining room table before kids get back to visit. Also found a nice window AC unit for the garage last night on the town's facebook garage sale page -- hopefully it works! Could've come in handy during the day... Triple digits plus the hotbox that is the garage did not bode well for my already slightly dehydrated self. Prior to that, I went out and FINALLY planted my veggies in the raised bed from pots. That was not an easy feat by myself AT ALL. I felt sick to my stomach with how much water I was drinking during breaks but still ended up dehydrated. Today should be fairly simple to get back on track. Not sure dinner plans yet, but I'm on my own for "breakfast" and lunch. I'm still trying for IF until 11 but I don't eat lunch until about 2 so it holds me over until dinner, otherwise I get hangry and nauseous. Will be tracking today to ensure I'm in the green.
09/01 - On my way back down. We got ourselves a new project car (BF has wanted another classic bug for years) so spent the entire afternoon sweating in the sun. Water wasn't great, but I did my best with some payoff in weight. Today possibly more work on it between meetings. I'm okay with it, I grew up working on cars and gives me something physical to do outdoors. Just need to take more breaks in the AC so I don't feel so ick drinking so much water in the heat (its easy for me to get hot enough to not eat and it seems water will also make me feel a little uneasy if I'm too hot). Hoping I can drop back down in the next couple days!

8/31 155.8 WTH. I hiked 15.6 miles yesterday for 7.5 hours in the state forest over some decent size foothills. I'm sore and stiff today. And I kayaked and hiked saturday for another 7.5 miles. I know I didn't track food, but I didn't gorge. I expect I'm retaining water. Hard workouts always bump me up for a day or 2 before I drop back down. Doesn't matter. Tracking for today.
