π 08/25:174.6 So far so good! I didn't expect things to go so well so quickly. I am happy. I am staying within my calorie limits and it seems like 1400 is just fine along with lots of water. I am playing Ring Fit Adventure everyday. It is very fun. Even though the actual exercises are in short bursts, they are intense enough to give me a good workout. However, I am so sore today that it will be difficult to make myself workout tonight.
π 08/26:174.4 My weight is essentially the same, but today is a different sort of victory because I finally lost whatever water weight made me lose drastically in the first few days. I had 5 pounds of it! The other success is that starting all of this daily exercise is making me feel really great. My energy is up and I am enjoying life. I stayed within calorie limits as well and tried to drink more water. My exercise for yesterday was Just Dance 2020 on the Switch. I danced for 50 minutes, which estimated my calories burned at 311.61, but I am a wild dancer, so I suspect it was more. π
π 08/27:174.4 I am staying steady, so I won't let myself get discouraged. I know I should be losing based on my activity and calorie intake, but I know it will come off over time. I just need to be patient! I played Ring Fit Adventure yesterday. Today, I am going to play Just Dance 2020 for an hour. I am also going to download a free Jump Rope game on the Switch and try to add that to my mornings starting tomorrow. Right now, just getting into habits are key.
π 08/28:175.8 Even though I stayed below my calorie limit and exercised, I had consumed a massive amount of sodium due to a combination of tortilla soup and ramen. Lmao. This was definitely water weight. I will keep a closer eye on my sodium intake from now on.
π 08/29:174.0 I didn't make it to any exercise yesterday, but stayed below both my calorie count and my sodium count. Today, I will play my fitness games on my switch.
π 08/30:173.2 I'm happy to see this drop even though I again didn't play my fitness games. It seems like I am still reaping the rewards from my previous workouts. It looks like I will probably surpass my weight goal for this round!
π 08/31:172.8 Hooray! I'm very thankful to whomever started these challenge rounds because I know they are the main reason I am able to stay on track with logging my meals and exercising. It would feel really great even if I weren't losing, but the drops are a definite bonus. I was able to play Ring Fit Adventure. I also started the free 100 Day Jump Rope challenge. It hardly takes any time, so that one should be daily even if I don't get any other exercise in.

A friend brought a gorgeous big vine-ripened cantaloup yesterday β mmmmm. Also tomatoes and peppers. I see a beautiful salad in my future! π₯ Weβre under a heat advisory today and itβs already hot, so Iβm not walking unless it cools down this evening, but I can garden in spurts and run in to cool off. Iβm also refinishing some nightstands & end tables & trying to decide on a color for our bedroom, which I want to repaint β plenty to do! Have a great week, all!

I donβt know why I had to have ice cream last night. Maybe the hot hot day, but thatβs just a flimsy excuse. Still, I hit my calorie goal, if barely. No walk β a friend came over and we sat out in the garden to catch up and enjoy the beautiful evening. Not bad, all in all.

Food, glorious food, and way too much of it. The ice cream was definitely emotional, and of course I know that giving in only makes me feel worse. What was so depressing, you might wonder? Iβm trying to choose a paint color for our bedroom. Gaaaa! I want something cheery to wake me happy in the morning. Yellow or green, but holy cow, itβs hard to find the right one! So I have 5 different colors painted in patches on all four walls, and still havenβt decided! So, ice cream. Ha! Compared to events in other parts of the country, my petty concerns are nothing, I know. I hope everyone here is safe.

Better yesterday, food wise. I found my yellow and the painters come Monday. Yay! I canβt wait to get rid of the dark blue-gray we inherited. (It may have looked better when new, but I find it depressing). Now Iβm on the prowl for some new artwork to brighten it up, and a small pedestal table to paint to match the nightstand I painted a soft white. Trying to wake up cheerful! That helps me not want to gobble everything in sight. (See, this is on topic!)

We finally got a good rain last night and itβs a gorgeous morning. Iβm hoping the ground has softened up so I can dig out The turf from my border expansion without kidding myself. 08/25 β¦..210.5 β¦.. 1 Β½ slices of pizza last night during movie night with my son and THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD!!!! I actually started to gag when eating the 2nd slice and had to spit it into my napkin. Over a pound gained overnight! Very disappointed that I will spend this round just to get back down to my inflated, overweight, obese number that I started with. I will try to fit in extra movement today, extra water, and stick to my guns!

However, ended up traveling downstate all day today to shop for TV for my son (his blew up unexpectedly). Restaurant included. So I dread tomorrowβs scale but I will be extra strict tomorrow again. Trying to catch up on several days of posts. Should have them read by tomorrow.

08/26 193.4 I have to take a break from running due to stupid plantar faciitis which is super depressing. BUT I'm doing a 30 day no alcohol challenge and I'm interested to see if that makes it easier to lose. So far I miss my glass of wine while cooking but some days are easier than others. I am going to try to get back into lifting at the gym since I can't run, I tried the elliptical on Monday but foot hurt for two days after so probably gonna give that one some more time still. Calorie goal: 1400
08/27 194.0 well the scale was up today, but my BF % was down so that means there's a little water weight hanging around . I'm still on a downward trend and getting ready for TOM so a momentary blip is expected. Still sleeping in the dreaded night splint, I had less foot pain today so maybe I can hit the gym tomorrow and avoid a flare up. Calories were over yesterday by 400 due to chocolate snack after dinner, did I mention TOM? Upping the water today.
08/28 193.2 drinking my water, still giving my foot a break from any stress. I don't have a plan for dinner tonight which isn't good, bc that means I want to stand in the pantry and eat snack (not helpful, I know! ) better come up with one before I get too hungry!
08/29 192.4 I felt very happy to see this number on the scale after many days higher. Let's hope it sticks around and isn't destroyed by my salty lunch today, bc I'm on track to stay around 1200 calories - missed breakfast (accidentally), split chicken fajitas with a friend and brought leftovers home for the hubs, and just a little yogurt with fruit for dinner.

I didn't log my food, but I didn't go cray either. I wanted a snack, so I had a protein shake. Today I had a strength training session via zoom with my trainer.

Looking forward:
I'm just too danged cussed to let this thing knock me back, and ruin all the effort I have put in to get here. I am stepping up my routine, and taking control. Sheltering in place means I can fully concentrate on getting in my exercise, and preparing healthy food.
August focus: improving stamina, strength, flexibility, which may impact the scale
Aims:
2020 Focus:Never give up! Never give in!- Stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

70 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. Recovered from back surgery then hip surgery!! Got back to walking then I sprained my ankle. UGH! hurt! I was down for 6 weeks with the ankle.
The Shelter in Place has everyone freaked. We need to remain calm and respectful of each other.

My Monday night exercise class is a work sponsored free class. It has been strength training for several years. Since covid hit it has been over zoom. Anyway today it changed to kickboxing maybe this was discussed at last week's class that I missed. I love this class because I get such a good workout, but am a bit disappointed that it is no longer strength training. I feel like I need to build muscle and strength training once a week will really slow that down. Anyway whining a bit I guess. I'm going to have to think about changing up my exercise routine.

Been making myself go for walks (or do workout videos) when my hurtin' body would rather say "No." Because my BMR is so low, I've been really cognizant of what is going in my mouth (and I'm not putting something in there-out of sheer boredom!) I've decided that I really don't enjoy exercising all that much! But, I've seen so much improvement in how my clothes fit over the past 15 days, that I'm NOT giving up now! Super excited to be getting back into my "real" wardrobe, after an umpteen year hiatus...

08/25 231.8 Though I walked 3.36 miles yesterday morning my Apple watch did NOT consider it exercise LOL Stopping to talk to neighbors, dog potty, dropping off book at library, light at intersection and not using pause on the watch when stopping β¦ I guess it thinks I strolled too much. Overall I did get 12300 steps total yesterday. Today I must walk more purposefully!
08/26 231.2 3 mile walk but ran into friends again β¦ some decided to walk with me. A couple of glasses of wine with dinner. Broke my dry spell this month.

08/25 - 310.3 - One of the pleasant things about the new job is walking almost twice as much. My steps almost doubled for the week (per my Fitbit notification). Down 3.6 for the week and 8 lbs. over 2 weeks. One of those fun things that happen when you drop lots of weight... a adjustable web belt that barely fit now has to be cut since there is an excess. Maybe it's body dysmorphia, but while this is happening, I don't see it. But the fit of my clothes and fitness ability to do simple tasks that have been a struggle, those are the things that are a hammer hitting me over the head, saying *yeah, you're getting smaller*.
08/26 - 309.7 - Mondays are worst for weigh-ins. By Wednesday, I'm usually heading in a good direction. My best is Saturday before I start eating. By then, I've had 3 42-hour fasts leading into eating at noon on Sat.
08/27 - 306.9 - Nice drop. After missing last round's goal, I went conservative... and already made it. This also puts me at the 95+ lbs. mark. So close. So tantalizing. And a broke scale. One of the footies just broke and I don't think it can be fixed. Aargh! New scale time. Down 4.3 for the week and 9.3 over two weeks.
08/28 - 307.2 - Standard small uptick on a weekday eat. Still on target for a nice drop for tomorrow.
08/29 - 305.7 - Nice drop. Down 4 lbs. from last Saturday and 6.7 over two weeks. My biggest fear from this weigh loss is starting to take hold... I'm seeing a little excess skin around the edges (thighs and upper arms). My plan was to slow down a bit once I got under 300 lbs. and really focus on weight training and jumping rope. I guess that might start (a little bit) earlier than expected.
08/30 - 309.9 - And back on the roller coaster we go. A lttle too much good food yesterday. That's ok, I'll just start working on dropping back tomorrow. Even if we have a bad day, just jump back on it tomorrow. Same weight as last week and down 4.7 from 2 weeks ago.
08/31 - 308.3 - After a weekend of eating, normally this goes up... way up. But it actually went down. Not complaining, just puzzled. Just makes it easier to keep going.
09/01 - 306.8 - Nice drop after 36 hours (of 42) of fasting. Down 3.5 from last week and 7.1 over two weeks.

08/26 - 145 - Calories have been good, so I'm hoping this is just some water retention.
08/27 - 144.5 - OK, I'm trending lower this week.
08/28 - 145.5 - Sigh. I've tracked my food all week and stayed within weight loss calories. I did start a cardio routine this week, so I'm hoping this is some DOMS. Also, I've been eating watermelon which, although low in calories, is high in sugar and carbs. I have a patio birthday party for my daughter on Sunday and my husband is making meatball subs for supper tonight, so I'm going to have to really watch what I eat the rest of the weekend along with drinking ALL the water.
08/29 - 144.5 - I did not want to weigh this morning. I woke up with swollen fingers from the sodium last night. I was so surprised when I saw my weight I checked again on my other scale. The watermelon and meatballs are all gone now and I'll just plan for a cupcake at my daughter's party tomorrow.
08/30 - 142.5 - Well, whoosh! I've been at this long enough to know it will bounce back up, but this really helps my trend line.
08/31 - 143.5 - It's all good, today I'll be carefully tracking my food and drinking water.
09/01 - 143.5 - I'm very happy this stuck today.
