Low carb?

But what is wrong with eating a potato- or eating chicken or beef- if that is what the person wants for their own lifestyle?-- I can't do keto because it is too restrictive for ME- I could not do vegetarian because it did not work well for ME--calorie counting seems to work for me- I have loss about 30 pounds and kept it off so far- so good- but if i don't watch calories- then wham!!!! but this is just me
Those calories are tiny little *kittens* and have to be watched closely at all times. They are NOT to be trusted... just saying 🤣
Sorry, having an extra weird day 😜2 -

They must be doing something wrong, because I have been on keto for 2.5 years and haven't regained any weight.
Perhaps they just picked the wrong diet for them?
Just like your diet would be wrong for me and my diet would be wrong for you.
I agree with you, to a point. Keto is not just a diet; it's a lifestyle. If they thought it would be a quick hack to lose weight fast and then go back and eat all the pies, then they would be wrong. There are many ways of doing low-carb and some of these are plain wrong. Atkins is one of these. There are also other benefits of being in ketosis that go beyond losing weight, like, for example, improved mental clarity and overall energy levels.
I have done keto long term (periods of 4-6 months) for cutting and it never improved my mental clarity. It seems the people that see improved cognition tend to be those with metabolic disorders and those coming from poor diets.
Op, Keto helps me when i cut weight and currently more low carb (net carbs around 50+75g with 30-40g of fiber total). The benefit to low carb is that i get enough carbs to eliminate the performance impacts caused from ketogenic diets.
Personally, i mainly focus on protein and fiber... Then let carbs and fat fall in place. Since i am a huge meat and dairy eater, i naturally gravitate a bit lower carb. Also, when my carbs are very high, i tend be more hungry.
On a side note, the best thing i did get from Keto was Chaffles. So much more filling than waffles and very versatile.

I did low carb for awhile, and have switched back to cico not on low carb. I hit goal weight after I went back to "normal". It wasn't horrible, but wasn't for me long term. If I had a health reason I could easily do it. If you like carbs workout and do cico you will be fine 😊3

I have been doing low carb for months now. You could call it keto, it started off as a kind of paleo diet than slowly evolved into what is now clearly a keto diet. Paleo was a great kickstart but found it too restrictive for my taste I had to change it. In the beginning the idea was-very debatable- instead of focusing too much on the calorie count I tried my push down my insulin level so that my body would switch from 'fat storage mode' to 'fat burning mode' all the while doing lots of exercise. Like I said very questionable tactics, but it did work lost lots of weight. Recently I ran into a wall reached a plateau no matter what I did my weight wasn't moving at all-probably due to a change in my metabolism over the course of my diet. So now on the advice of others here I tried to get my attention on accurate calorie count. The results are promising my plateau did begin to move, just today I set a new record for myself. So I would say calories sadly count one can't completely ignore them I am kind of forced to admit.6

I have tried low carb in the past and felt absolutely awful on it. I had no energy at all, couldn’t focus, was constipated. Never again. What works for some doesn’t work for others. I am on a high carb plant based diet and feel amazing.4 -
I pretty much do a low carb, but I'm not dogmatic about it. After trying several low carb diets such as keto, carnivore, and paleo, I found a good sweet spot. I think Low carb can also be subjective too. But for me, I usually don't go over 80 grams of carbs, and I'm feeling pretty good about it. I also do a lot of strength training which helps too.2
