Over 50 Group?

I’m just starting back on MFP after a 3 year hiatus. I got tired of counting calories every darn day, but I’ve had little success with other methods. I am also using intermittent fasting techniques, but have found that I am just shoving more food into me during my eating window!! So frustrating! I’m going to attempt a combo of tracking calories and intermittent fasting!! Looking forward to some supportive conversations.
Thanks

Great post. I too want to do intermittent fasting. And yes, there needs to be an over 50 group.

I try to keep active by cycling thrice a week and walkin 2 days but I enjoy eating and the brakes don't work !! Now on MFP hoping some guilt sets in and start streamlining my bulk !!

There are many of us here 50+

Regardless of age, we are all in this together.

Don't give up and eventually you will find the right combination of 'things' that work best for you.

    Welcome to MFP!

You could try one of these:

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10718336/60-yrs-and-up
    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/100593-over-50-group

That last one's a bit low-traffic, but still has active admins, so it would be better to go there and revitalize it than start a competitive group, I think.

I lost 50+ pounds here back in 2015, obese to a healthy weight, at age 59-60. I've been maintaining in a healthy range since, most recently taking advantage of reduced temptations during pandemic to help me with losing a few vanity pounds in maintenance. I'll be 65 in about a week.

Thanks everyone for your comments! Today is my first day logging my calorie intake to lose weight! I used the diary yesterday just to log and see what my weight would be like if I continued to eat in that way! Always such an eye opener! Just had my lunch and I still have 780 calories for dinner! Yay!
If anyone is interested in intermittent fasting you could read or look at the books: The Obesity Code written by Dr. Jason Fung. Very interesting.
And for a lay person’s experience with IF a good book is ... cant remember the name , but the author is Gin Stephens. She’s very popular and has a podcast too. Her latest book is called , Fast, Feast, Repeat! And I would never want to compete with another group here, but if there is no over 50 with an IF combo then maybe that’s this group!? Lmk what you think!!

I’d join a 50+ group. I’m new to MFP too. But I’m certainly not new to dieting. 😕

Into my 56th year and finally getting diet under control - 20 lbs off in the past 3 months - reduced carb intake, caloric deficit and regular exercise - thanks MFP for a great app!
