How neat are you?

@Kickassamazon You sound like a loving caring and great mother. You also sound like you're taking good care of yourself. IMO, you've got your priorities straight.
Would you rather leave a legacy of happy kids with warm memories of their mom and her love for them plus being a good role model to them about taking care of themselves OR making sure the floors are crumb-free and there's no cat hair in the corners?
Never feel guilt for how you're living your life or we'll all come smack you.
If it means I get to meet all you awesome people... Maybe the guilt is worth it! ❤️
I want to do it all. But I know I can't. So, I do what I can, and celebrate that we're in lockdown so I don't have to worry about unexpected guests! Haha3 -
One of my New Year's resolutions is to put away the Halloween stuff.6

Symmetry is also an issue for me - no crooked pictures, things evenly spaced apart, pillows in order etc.
Don't get me started on vacuum lines 😫
I have issues...
You’d hate me. I’d mess those things up on purpose. Sorry I’m a jerk

I just hate it when people don't pick up after themselves. Ex. I give those Everything Bagel crumbs left on the counter every single time he makes one, too much attention.
Trying to focus on the positive.
But really? Pick up after yourself. PLEASE1 -

On purpose? Why would you do such a thing?
I'm sorry you're a jerk too 😋Kashmir_314_ wrote: »Kashmir_314_ wrote: »I've been diagnosed with OCD - obsessive cleaning disorder. Keeping things clean and in order creates a sense of calm for me. When things are disorganized or messy,... feel like everything is out of control.

Because I know it would drive you nuts 😝🤪 that would bring me a small chuckle. I’m the jerk you would like 👍1 -
@KickassAmazon76 Your kids will remember the happy memories and your dedication to them and a better you, which is so much more important than an immaculate house.
Like yours my teens don't chip in to help and I don't make them, either. Two Fridays ago my fourteen-year-old wanted to go to an event hosted in a gymnasium 6 feet of seperation, masks, pizza, and flip flopping and tumbling all over the place with friends. You couldn't walk through her bedroom (you'd have to hop a path through it over all of her stuff wherever you could find a bare spot on her floor) and rule was that she had to clean her bedroom the next day, so I let her go. Next day she wakes up at noon and does nothing. I went crazy. Rule is going to be, room must be clean before you even think about asking for a privilege. I think I'm going to make a Chore Chart 2021.2 -

I know I am a big part of the problem. We start a chore chart and do well and then something comes up. We did meal prep for two weeks... Week one was fan, week two I had to work 20hrs ot. Haven't restarted.
*hard eye roll at myself*
When they were little they earned Minecraft time by doing chores... That one probably worked best.
I just keep trying but I sure do feel like I'm broken in this area. 😜3 -

I have completely done that. Target sells (sold?) these lights that are in the shape of letters. In the days I used to walk down the aisles for exercise, someone had places the letters OCD in the middle of an aisle...perfectly placed. I moved one of the letters just a touch so it wasn't so perfect.2 -
I'm super organized, for sure. Friends would call me a neat freak - but I am definitely not a clean freak. I don't care if surfaces are a little dusty, but I just hate clutter and messes. In most areas I'm pretty much a minimalist and so is my husband (more than me) so it's easy to keep things neat and organized all of the time. But when it comes to a few things such as clothing & footwear, I have insane quantities.1

I love to have everything clean and organized. It makes me feel good and more productive.1

My old man was a US Marine & as a kid, our home was dialed-in and squared away.
Once that mind-set is established, it's not going away.4 -

I love it like that too but hate being responsible for it, my stress level can't manage it not to mention level of laziness.1 -
I scrub my driveway if anything gets on it and I keep muriatic acid on hand if dove dish soap doesn’t get the oil off of the concrete when I change the oil and drip some.
I can’t stand working in my shop right now because it’s not organized and everything is not in its place.
I refused to put any tool in my new toolbox until I had liners and cleaned them.
To reiterate, I loath my workshop right now.

I'm a clean freak, always have been. I've even helped a few overwhelmed friends deep clean their homes. Give me a sugar free Red Bull and Melissa Etheridge and I'll happily get it done for ya!2

Late spring cleaning project #1 done! I had a thousand notebooks, binders, folders, coupons, scrapbooking supplies, classroom chalkboard borders and supplies, and pieces of junk mail. Before and after, obviously:

Buddy, I’m a mess and was raised by a hoarder so by comparison to that I’m super neat. In normal comparisons, I could do better.
I leave mugs and mail everywhere and the house only get’s spotless if I have visitors because I do have pride sometimes.1 -
I squeegee the shower glass as soon as I’m done the thought of water marks, if I leave it that’s all I will think about. And wipe down the marble ASAP because the thought of soap scum trigger me. I also can’t have anything on top of my sink, tooth brush, mouth wash etc has to immediately go back under the sink.
I don’t like nik naks, I just see it as dust collectors and something more I have to clean. Everything has to look simple and clean. Or else my head spins. 😃↗️⬇️↙️↖️⬅️➡️2 -

I can't stand knick knacks. I've taken care of people whose homes were just cluttered with so many tacky knock knacks. I went to the flea market a couple of weeks ago and was surprised by how many people buy and sell knick knacks. My daughter collects them, although, it doesn't seem to be on purpose. I just wish she'd stop buying them for me.2 -
I’m pretty clean. I don’t like a messy house but I’m not a perfectionist. On a scale of one to ten with 10 being the neatest, I would give myself an 8.1

I got rid of my S&P and mug collections because I got so sick of cleaning them.
As I've aged, how I'd have to clean something definitely has become as important to me as cost, and anything else.3 -
I inherited the house proud gene from my Granny, but when it's just the two of us, i.e. over lockdown, we've definitely let things slide. OH doesn't tend to 'see' the issues, and he's not great at cleaning but he'll always pitch in to help, it's just that I find the planning/getting started hard work so often, we don't get started.
Anybody got a chore chart for grownups?!
I am really big on having everything organised, with a home for it all, and I adore decluttering. The hardest part, as previously mentioned, is actually getting rid of it these days. I CBA selling on FB or eBay generally as it's often a lot of hassle for what you make, and charity shops are tricky due to long periods of closure.
Restrictions have just eased in England, meaning people can now come in our home and aren't stuck in the garden. This is stressful for me because (I feel like) we need to deep clean it. Thankfully we're most of the way there with the cleaning and we have almost 2 weeks before we have any (expected) house guests.
I keep debating getting a cleaner in regularly to do the kitchen, bathrooms and living area. Then I think we're two adults, no children, we really have no excuse. But if we had a cleaner, I would keep on top of it better because I wouldn't want them to think we're scruffs. Plus you have to be tidy so they can clean...1 -
I even go around my gym and reorganize the plates so that each weight tree has the same amount of plates on each one. But at least the members appreciate it.

I can be a bit ocd about my routine and food I don’t pick up my laundry off the bedroom floor for a week2
-
I get anxious in a messy home, so I try to give everything a place and it really helps with the clean up and make its quick too. I also don’t buy anything I don’t truly love or need. At the same time though, I leave all of the cupboards open, I’ve escalated to two (big) junk drawers for all of the things I don’t like to leave out and I begrudgingly do laundry twice a month, three times if I am on my A game. I give myself a B+.1

I like to clean so my house is pretty neat and tidy. I might have a little bit of OCD but
In a good way lol1
