Hectic week. My college readiness classes started on Tuesday, with more than the usual number of logistical issues. But I still managed to get out and walk 3 of the 5 days so far. With a walk and a bike ride this weekend, I'll hit my goal of 5 exercise days this week.

Happy Saturday! I've been trying to read and catch up for the past two weeks, but I'm so far behind that I figured I'd better hop on and post my goals and then go back and catch up as I can. Otherwise, I spend so much time reading that I'll never post any goals! LOL
I'm about 6 pages behind now, so I'm getting there...
So many things I would like to say but instead I'll just say I'm sending hugs to those of you with struggles, and I'm cheering those of you who have had some great successes, and I always have everyone on this entire thread in my prayers!
I did a virtual camp last week for No BS Weightloss group and it was pretty eye opening. They talked a lot about changing our thoughts and self-talk, stopping from living in the past and to start moving forward and really living in the present, talked about people pleasing and anxiety... all good topics. I was emotionally exhausted on Monday! Didn't want to use my brain at all that day...
Anyway, my goals will be simple today since it's already after 1:00 p.m. I'll get more detailed tomorrow. I think I need to just come on and post my goals first and then read what I can when I can...it's hard to catch up and I always feel like I want to reach out to so many of you, which then leads to me not posting anything! I know you "get" what I'm saying...

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts to remember.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- The scale is only one gauge of progress. Others include Measurements, clothes fit, improvement in general well-being/fitness.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
I will catch up with posts tomorrow morning. I'm gonna switch off now as it's just turned 11 pm.2 - Name: Terri

@pridesabtch <> I hope you had a great day at the regatta, and enjoyed seeing your girl.
Hugs to everyone. Both DYD, DH, and I had our flu jabs this week with no ill effects. Just waiting for a callback for our Covid booster then we're hopefully set for the winter.
Going to visit our DED and her boys after lunch.

Need to get my goals posted today, so I don't do like yesterday!
Here's my story .. my girlfriend stopped in on her way back from vacation friday nite, so I met her at the hotel to visit. She wanted to go to the casino. I am not a casino person, but whenever she comes in town (usually with my other 2 hs friends) we always make a trip to the casino. So off we go. I was very fortunate .. while I did not win anything in the 2 hrs we were there ... I won enough little bites that I could keep playing, and only lost $10.00! So I was happy.
But .. my friend WON $1728.00!! We were both so excited! So as we are leaving the casino with her money, she loves crablegs ... wanted to celebrate.. and told me she was buying my dinner. The only place in the casino that had crablegs was a seafood place... and quite expensive. I knew of other places that might have them, but she wanted to just stay at the casino. so this is what we did. As we were looking at the menu, all I could see that I wanted was a chicken dish ... I do not like lobster, shrimp, crablegs .. well, most seafood!
So I had a chicken dish, which was $23.00 and water. She had her crablegs with her 2 sides, which apparently was close to $50.00. After the meal, the wattress asks if we wanted separate checks or 1 check. It was a odd silence. My friend did not answer to say 1 check, and I felt awkard saying 1 check, so I told her 2 checks. My friend never even offered again to pay for my meal.. stating how her meals was close to $50.00.
I know I should not feel hurt. No one owes buying me my meal. But since she won so much, and had offered, I have to say I was a little hurt, since I drove her out there. This has happened so many times with all 3 of my friends come to visit. I drive them all over the place, which I do love to do, but sometimes just a little sign of appreciation means so much. Only 1 friend in that bunch will pay for at least one meal for me as a thank you gesture. I take the entire weekend when they come to drive them whereever they want to go. Yes, I have fun, but sometimes, just a little appreciation sign means so much.
I know I am being weird on this, and it was no big deal. I can afford the $23 for my meal, even though I would have preferred just having a sandwich at a less expensive place.
So I don't know if I was just kinda down yesterday, or the weather, but I ate horribly all day.
I also listen to the NOBS podcasts.. and she talks alot about our "inner" voice, and our guilt, etc. I think while I was hurt, I also was feeling quilty later that this should even bother me!
So got up this morning... got in my 5 mile walk... and am now cleaning! Vowing to eat better today, and just remember the fun time I had with my friend... after all ... it was just a dinner. But to me, if someone offers, they should not change their mind after we have eaten. She saw the menu .. I mentioned how expensive it was, and she told me don't worry .. it was on her.
GOals for today
log my food
concentrate on water
start cleaning closets, etc. Need to think about getting winter stuff out!

@mytime6630 - That would make me hurt too. Sometimes people (including friends) are clueless.2
-
Hour commitment - Just finished lunch and now I won't eat until with our friends. I still have to have my dose of metamusal.1
-
@Mytime6630 I don’t blame you! I think it’s rather rude to tell someone you want to buy them lunch and then make it awkward by changing your mind but not verbalizing it when the server comes.
I really feel like society could take a basic lesson in common sense manners!1 -

Ongoing plans/ideas behind the cut1. Purchases: Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" and a long-haired doll at thrift stores. Practice French braiding. Go to used bookstore and look for The Prince (tr. Tim Parks, Russell Price, or Robert Adams), The Secret Adversary (Christie), Hood Feminism (Mikki Kendall), Caste (Isabel Wilkerson).
2. E2: What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Create vocabulary lists for each unit that come from the texts used: Animal Farm, Julius Caesar, Wes Moore, I Am Malala. Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Need practice with the difference between transitions and overlapping (at end of paragraph - "another issue is Y" vs "there are other issues besides X"). Quit using "in conclusion" and "I believe" and other writing-about-my-writing phrases. Confusion between direct/indirect objects and prepositional phrases. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts. Confusion between everyday / every day and similar constructions.
3. E1: Need practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Difficulty using possessive nouns in their own writing. Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me). Poetry: Revise "Songs are Poetry" handouts.
4. Curriculum Development: Writing mini-unit. Review scholarly research on 5PE. (I think I can have this as an intro to the research unit so that they also get exposure to how quotes are integrated and cited.) Parallel structure; use of emotional language, specific detail. Use "Write About a Pebble" lesson from Atwell. How long should each unit take? Do research on characteristics: curiosity, persistence, resilience, creativity, responsibility, optimism, courage, integrity, authenticity, leadership, self-awareness, humility, compassion - others? Include grammarly check on essays! Review assessments. What is the purpose for each unit? What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Write 1 reflection weekly; type one in Classroom by Weds. Copy-paste to discussion board for comments due Friday. Homework: Online journal Mon due Tue; Reflection Tue due Wed; C&P journal in class Wed; Comments Thu due Fri. Bonus if you are the first response; further bonus if you respond to comments on your post. Grammar practice Mon & Wed; quiz Fri. Unit plan for research (Idea for regular: comparing same story on sites with different biases).
5. Professional Development: Write blog post weekly. Comment on 3 posts each week - Tu Th Sun? Check with PSC. Talk with Z about articles and/or conference proposals.
6. Medical: Dentist call to schedule cleaning – Late Oct? ObG schedule for 9/28. PCP Aug 17. Therapy July 27.
7. Theater: Read play for discussion August 3.
8. House: Siding. Or perhaps bathroom floor.
9. Fun: Open beading on Thursdays. Coloring at library on Tuesday. Put jewelry away. Edney Hack Nights alt Weds. ASL? Spanish/Portuguese practice? Practice piano. ROL Secret Adversary. Buy bike rack for car.
10. Volunteering ideas: Theater. Library. Animal shelter. Community Kitchen. Emerge Georgia training.
11. Family: Book group. Dinners?
12. Writing: Blog post: Running, Racism and Rum: Learning to Handle Discomfort. Fanfic: Create a scene list for the Batgirl story. Finish the cafe scene for the Titans story.
13. Lifting: 15 squats, 15 deadlifts, 10 shoulder presses, 15 arm raises, 10 pushups, 30 crunches, 15 side lifts, 15 back kicks. Horse stance for 5 breaths, tree for 10 breaths each leg.
14. Summer: Organize photos with the family. Write Clois. Write Stuffy and Friends. Create blog posts for video lessons.
15. Other: Practice hair braiding with D. Remind D to ask his dad about the table and check with home repair contractors. 3 posts/week? Create test for MLA format. Create test for infographics and visual information. Remember that M does not like surprises! Check dates of classes and update semester plan. She Should Run vision statement. Update standards on board. When to change bulletin board?
WFTY: Persistence. Fall break is over. It'll be interesting to see what happens with students.Reminder: Last year's WFTY was progress, and I am ... actually, I was going to say content, but it's more than that. I'm proud of myself, and I'm pleased with the progress that I made. Even without the challenges throughout the year, I accomplished things that I should be proud of; and given those challenges, I'm even happier about what I was able to do.3 -

@mytime6630 I would also have been hurt in that situation. You are not overreacting.
Another Monday, how quickly the weeks fly by.
JFT Monday 18th October
Log everything
Stay in the green
Back exercises
Foot exercises
Walk if pain levels/rain are suitable
Investigate electrics
Do car insurance
Laundry/ironing
It's now one week since I really started logging again and staying in the green. 6 good days, Sunday I didn't log but wasn't too bad, I had smaller portions than everyone else. Weighed this morning and I haven't lost anything at all. Sigh, I guess if I keep at it the weight will move eventually.
I thought there was a power cut this morning. I got up and ready using a torch, then discovered it was only my house, half the circuits worked but half had tripped. I haven't tried to work out what caused it yet, had a really early visit from grandson wanting breakfast at mine before nursery so just sat with him instead. I have a cold, courtesy of grandson. I decided last night to not take evening painkiller as I was feeling quite good. That was a mistake, now in more pain than usual, so will ease into the day gently.
Have a good week everyone4 -
Finally met my current exercise goal (5/7 days), and the basic habits are sticking. I have tons to do this week, so I'm keeping my goals simple and will try to catch up with posts when I have some down time.

Walk 15 minutes

I thought for sure that I had posted goals yesterday. It seems I didn’t, but I had them in my head and almost made all of them. No arms though.
I’m noticing a difference in the last few days getting my water in. I need to keep it up.
@mytime6630 - I would have been upset at the meal situation as well. It was very rude of her. It’s rude of all of them if they never offer to buy one meal as a thank you.
@littleblackskirt - I hope your pain settles soon. You have ended up with a lot of responsibility with your Grandson. It’s tiring.
I’m at work so should get at it.4
