Just starting a low carb diet

I am 72, tried Weight Watchers, and Take Shape for Life in the past. I haven’t weighed myself in quite awhile and afraid to see how bad the number is. Between the pandemic, where our activities are limited, and age, it’s frustrating. Thought I’d try a low carb diet. Anyone have some good recipes to share?

I'm not a low carb person, but I'm older, too (65 now), and maintaining weight after losing around 50 pounds with MFP a few years ago at age 59/60). For low carb info, there's a group here focused that way that has a great reputation for having friendly people & helpful info:

There seems to be a problem with group-joining functions right now in some cases, so if you don't see a "Join" button, look for a note near the top of the page that says what to do.

    Wishing you much success!

    Welcome!

I think you'll find people doing low-carb around here. Some people find it helpful as a way to limit calories. Just be sure to realize that the only way low-carb works is that it creates a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat). Some people find this easier by limiting carbs. I love 'em, so I can't guide you towards any good recipes. Just be sure to get adequate nutrition. Carbs are the fuel your body uses for some really important processes.

Like you, the restrictions we are under have helped me pack on a few unwanted pounds. I'm working to get rid of them. Let's both be successful!

When you DO choose your carbs, think about going for whole grains rather than white flour or deep fried potatoes. And boy howdy do I like deep fried potatoes......
