Another roller-coaster week. My son was taken to hospital last Tuesday after a fall and he is still there. Hoping to have him home soon but he will be virtually bed-bound and very weak. I’m afraid we don’t have much more time with him.

Struggles: Well, kind a blew it last weekend after relishing in my great results from the week before. I blame the Irish Soda bread that was so good I could not stop eating it!
Success: Settled down the rest of the week, even though there was lemon meringue pie in the house (logged a small slice each day until it was gone/given away) and ended up a half pound less than I weighed last Saturday. Made a decision about how to handle weekend eating. Now planning to make Saturday a bit of a feast day, and will allow myself 500 extra calories that I will save up all week. I am hoping that building in the allowance encourages better weekend logging.5 -

I’d like to lose a bit to get back to 70 kg, but I’m still happy at around 75 kg.
I’m experimenting with seeing how my satiety levels are in relation to the types of foods I eat. Trying to eat more whole foods, which I’ve been getting pretty good at, and less sugar, and it’s going quite well.

Struggle of the week: Also a success because I recognized it and didn't give in to the struggle: I noticed I was not hungry in the least, and yet I wanted to eat. Boy howdy did I want to eat. But my brain took over and said, "Don't do it."

About 18 months ago I reported here that I had just had the worst week of my life – that was when we had the diagnosis of my son’s brain tumour. This week we said goodbye to my son. He never came home from hospital. We were only allowed to visit at the very end by which time he was unconscious. It was very peaceful. He was very sick the last 3 weeks of his life, but he was still himself, able to talk and even joking up to the last days.
The next few weeks will be very difficult while we are still under Covid 19 rules which restrict the number of people who can get together and even how/whether we can hug.

Success: Celebrated St. Pat's day, had beer and Shepard Pie and it didn't move the scale. It was at home with my husband so I split the beer and I made the Shepard Pie so knew exactly what was in and was able to eat the right proportion.
Struggle: An easy week, I did have to remind myself of the reasons not to break in the candy in the freezer - weight gain, too much sugar disturbs my sleep, and I wouldn't eat the veggies as I should, and I would plain not feel as good. It is amazing how it still can be a temptation.3 -

Reflection: I currently have a good routine of exercise combining BodyFit by Amy Athletic Club and rowing. April is focusing on abs and I really hope it might help to shift some of that lower belly bulge!2 -

Success: Kept to my plan of allowing extra calories on the weekend but still logging them and banking those extra calories during the weekdays. Also, back on the water with rowing - was able to row both Friday and Sunday this week and am scheduled for tomorrow. I definitely feel it in my glutes! Which is an area I need to work on. I ran my butt off running - literally! 😄. Extra good news this week: due to a computer glitch I was invited to schedule my vaccine early. I was surprised when I got the notification (even thought it might be a scam) but thought perhaps they realized they could move the timing up because they had more vaccine than they had expected. A couple of hours after I had secured the appointment, they told me it was a mistake, but that they would honor the appointment anyway. It felt like scoring the "Bank Error in your Favor" in Monopoly! So giddy and happy to get the vaccine. It's scheduled for 4/1.
Struggles: Honestly, it's been a good week. Can't complain.

Successes/struggles of the week: Very slight downward trend in my weight this week. The past couple of days, I've been feeling a bit under the weather (stomach bug or mild food poisoning or something) on and off, so it's been a bit difficult to get activity in, and also a bit difficult to feel very hungry. I did manage to get in a 2 hour hike this morning, but I didn't feel great during it. Hopefully, I'll feel back to normal soon.6 -

Maintenance weight range: 65-75 kg (not sure what’s the right answer - been up and down in there numerous times in my life, apart from going way over 2010-2015).
I’d like to lose a bit to get back to 70 kg, but I’m still happy at around 75 kg.
I’m experimenting with seeing how my satiety levels are in relation to the types of foods I eat. Trying to eat more whole foods, which I’ve been getting pretty good at, and less sugar, and it’s going quite well.

Binged out last Tuesday so a big bloated weigh in brought my trend way up but I’m mostly back in line with where I was before. Getting back into your normal habits is the best thing you can do, don’t overcompensate as it just increase likelihood of cycling. Even massive overages on one or two days can be minimized with consistency
Starting to see more weigh ins than not back in my range. Still want to get a little lower in my range. But I also might be more muscular now than when I set up the range so it might be time to up the range.
