Successes/struggles of the week: I'm slowly heading back down towards the middle of my maintenance range, after increasing my daily steps goal in April. I'll see if I continue to move towards where I prefer to be in May, and if not, then I'll bump up my steps goal again. I got my first vaccine dose this week, with no side effects other than just a bit of soreness in my arm. Luckily, it wasn't too bad, and I was able to still do my workout the next day.

I haven't been doing a lot of cooking lately, since I've been getting a lot of food from restaurants. I'm going to try to get back into cooking more often again, but continuing to support restaurants as well.

Thanks! I've found that the check-in threads have been a good way to measure progress over time and have helped me to stay on track and make small adjustments as needed based on the previous weeks' or months' data (as is the case now, when I'm still figuring out my "new" maintenance while working/staying at home during the pandemic!).

How long in maintenance: Since April 2016 - but gained 10 kg March-May 2020 after massive trauma combined with COVID-19.
Maintenance weight range: 65-75 kg (not sure what’s the right answer - been up and down in there numerous times in my life, apart from going way over 2010-2015).
I’d like to lose a bit to get back to 70 kg, but I’m still happy at around 75 kg.

I’m experimenting with seeing how my satiety levels are in relation to the types of foods I eat. Trying to eat more whole foods, which I’ve been getting pretty good at, and less sugar, and it’s going quite well.
Weekly averages checking day for me is Sunday.

Getting a bit confused about if I'm maintaining or trying to lose weight. It changes from minute to minute. But that's what maintenance is!

Awe thanks @Charmmeth! Photo is 6 months and I've lost a bit more - but those last 15 pounds all came from my top - went down 2 cup sizes, but honestly, shirts fit better now and it's easier to run, so it's all good. :)

Successes/struggles of the week: This week, my weight jumped way up after getting Mexican food earlier in the week, and stayed there until yesterday, when the water weight dropped down a bit. I ordered some Filipino food yesterday which had a lot of sodium, and my weight was back up again this morning. Such is life in maintenance...

I got in close to 7 miles of walking this morning, as I decided to take the long walk to my favorite bakery to pick up some delicious pastries. I've got a bit over 17k steps right now and can basically relax for the rest of the day, which is nice.

    Successes/struggles:
Here we are in a new month, new beginning. I weighed myself on Saturday morning and saw a spike up to just under 50 kg. It has come down since. I lost weight in the first two/three months of the year, dropping below my preferred maintenance range. My DIL was worried about me but I told her it was only temporary, caused by stress. I have been gaining weight through April, and am happy where I am now.

I am devasted by the loss of my son but the stress of knowing he was sick and watching him deteriorate is over now. Grief has different effects and I am working at dealing with it.

I’ve had a tough time recently and it will take a long time to get back to some approximation of normality but I can try to focus on myself for a while.

My goals for May include exercise and nutrition, but I also intend to reach out to a support group and/or counselling.

I'm posting this on Thursday - four days late - because I've been away from my laptop and using the phone is not easy.

I am so sorry for your loss I can't imagine the grief and pain huge hugs and prayers!

2 days of late night absolute sweet binges. Took me the rest of the week to recover but weight is starting to normalize. Had to call off the second part of my long run for heat and being ill supplied. We’ll adjust and continue making progress. Got to keep coming back to check in when things go good and when they go not great. I’m still in range and if I just be sensible for a week I’ll be fine.

maintained (i.e. was below 77.5 kg, and mostly below 75 kg) from February 2015-July 2017; was then put on a medication and gained 2 kg in a month; went on sabbatical (away from scales; lots of conference meals); hit (peri-)menopause and lost track of things except to note that I was steadily gaining and back to 85/86 kg.
Lost to 81 kg at Easter 2020 (top of normal bmi for me), but then gained back to 88 kg in April/May (Easter egg binge; lock down closed the pool...).

Successes: My weigh-in is exactly the same as last week, though it's been up and down over the week. i continue in my new maintenance range of 75.0 +/- 1kg. Still logging what I am eating, but that includes a glass or two of wine and a bit of chocolate. It's curious as I don't feel that I am doing anything very different food-wise from January, but then my weight was creeping back up. As I write that I realise the difference is my exercise. I am exercising for arounf an hour most days, and that makes all the difference.

    Struggles: None really.

Ten days away from being a year since I came back to mfp. I'm very grateful for the support.

Here's my weight tracking from May 2020 - April 2021, just for interest:

You can really see when I move into maintenance and the lines for each month start to overlap!

Successes/struggles of the week: My weight this week was still on the high side, though slightly less so than last week. I'm not expecting it to go down quite yet though, as I ordered a bunch of Chinese food a couple days ago and am still working my way through the leftovers, so I'm still retaining water weight.

HEAVIEST weight: 175.4 in early 2013.
    Total Weight lost: 30 pounds
Time it took to lose: ~6 months
How long in maintenance: Since July 2018 -- but with some fluctuation outside of goal range.
    Maintenance weight range:
    Ideally 142 - 148
    Absolutely 140-150

(and STILL not sure those are the right answers)

Average weight recorded from 2017 (12 months): 163.8
Average weight recorded from 2018 (12 months): 150.7
Average weight recorded from 2019 (12 months): 144.8
Average weight recorded from 2020 (12 months): 147.1

Average weight recorded from December 2020: 150.9
Average weight recorded from January 2021: 154.1 (!!!)
Average weight recorded from February 2021: 154.8 (!!!)
Average weight recorded from March 2021: 153.0
Average weight recorded from April 2021: 154.2 (!!!)

    Average weight Week of...
    April 26 - May 2 .........155.0
    May 3 - 9 ................... 154.7
    May 10 - 16 ............... 154.6
    May 17 - 23 ...............
    May 24 - 30 ...............
    May 31 - Jun 6 ............

Success of the week: Second week in a row getting a little closer to maintenance range.

Struggle of the week: I'm growing weary of the extra mass that came with COVID that is a real pain to get back rid of.

Editing to add: I have been maintaining in a fairly narrow range since the beginning of the year. I still bounce around some, but it seems maintaining at this weight is a lot easier than at the weight I maintained for a few years before that. So I'm really considering moving my goal to closer to where I am now. I don't think it's cheating. My BMI is still in the healthy range even if it's on the high end of healthy (six more pounds would put me back as overweight). When I calculate my "Smart BMI," which takes age and gender into account, it's smack in the middle of the healthy range. The estimate of my body fat percentage is also in the upper end of healthy for someone my age, but still healthy. So this is also a struggle I've been facing since last October. In fact, I've been wondering what my target should be ALL ALONG. I lowered my target as I was hitting the first one I set. I was pleased with how I felt and looked at the goal I eventually settled on, but it was a lot more work to maintain it. Well... see you next week and I'll still be pondering this and so many other crazy things in this Universe.

I really sympathise with this. Last time I lost weight I was aiming for 75kg, then that felt too high so I aimed for 72kg and then for 70kg to see if I could. However, that's too low for me for maintenance. This time around I am currently aiming to maintain at around 75kg, though long term I'd prefer that to be between 74kg and 75g. 74 kg is bmi 23 for me, and at my age 57 that feels about right. Where do you calculate your smart bmi?
