    Woah I didn’t think many over your neck of the woods knew about carrot cake I’m shocked. Your right about home made, stores don’t do them justice. Add a dollop of ice cream your in heaven 😋

    Carrot cake has always been a favorite and @glassyo can have all the frosting on mine. I have a lot of feelings about frosting and people in the south (maybe everywhere) use too much.

    My daughter wants me to make one for her birthday in a few days. I should probably look for recipes or does anyone have a recipe to share? I made it once and it came out great I just don't remember where I got the recipe from 😕

    I'm the opposite; all the carrot cake and no frosting (that's any cake, though). :yum:

    Best cake is possibly red velvet or funfetti/confetti cake for me!

    They do! Same in the Midwest. Too much frosting and a cake should stand on its own merits and not be doused in frosting/icing/glaze.

    Loving desserts and living in the South is a dangerous combo, let me tell you.

    All of these are without frosting, btw. Y'all can keep your frosting. Also, I did NOT include any cakes (like cheesecake) as I felt that was inauthentic to the question. The methods for preparing cheesecakes are wildly different than a standard baked cake.
