There's 3 possibilities:
- You're eating more than you think you are.
- There is a problem with your scale.
- You're retaining water and will have a whoosh soon.
To address the first possibility: Are you weighing ALL of your food and choosing accurate database entries? Always compare the database entry against the label in your hand or the USDA SR Legacy food database (for whole foods).
For the second: You say the scale is going up, is it by a lot or by fractions of a pound? How often are you weighing? Are you weighing under the same conditions every time (same time of day, same clothes or lack thereof, scale in the same place, before eating/drinking and after using the toilet)? Inspect your scale; are the feet dirty or damaged in any way? How long has it been since you changed the batteries?
For the third: Weight loss is not linear. How long have you been logging food and exercising? If you've only been at it for two weeks, and you're sure your scale is fine and you're tracking accurately, give it time.5 -
Hi, Ann. Welcome to MFP. I’m assuming you started MFP in June?
The first 2-6 weeks can make no sense at all.
Most of us throw ourselves in. Cutting calories, drinking more water, beginning ir accelerating exercise, often beyond our ability, if we’re honest.
Your weight is bouncing like a pinball. Fewer calories! Ding ding! Uh oh, hydration weighs more m! Ding ding ding! Whoops! Here comes a period? Better flap those paddles, girl! Sore following exercise! That’s added water weight! Uh oh, you just lost all your marbles!
Stay the course for a month or two. Give your body and brain a chance to acclimate. Both are learning new habits, new normals.
Things will eventually settle down- most likely for the better and if not, now you have a great baseline to work from.
That’s why so many of us quit so soon. We think the numbers should drop like a rock. They never will, but as long as you understand - and can control- the trend, you’re a wizard. 😉5 -
Good advice from those above!
If you haven't happened to run across it yet, you might find some useful information in this very good (IMO) article:

Weighing is so important.
Serving sizes are so much smaller than we think they are.
I’d especially have a look at weighing that heavy cream. I know if I don’t pay attention. I pour a whole lot more than a serving of half and half in my mug!
How are you overall? Any movement?0 -
Yes im down 60lb but have 65 more to go thanks for the kind words.hope you are doing well also..I do weigh myself I think too much so I'm going to do it only every other day4
