JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS ~ Round 158 (round 90 for me ) I continue to need this to help keep me on track!
@QuiltingJaine- thank you yet again for setting up the new challenge.
Challenge for this round is to continue yet again to work back towards maintenance – any loss will be a win! A healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.
Covid restrictions have mostly been lifted in England – we have reached “freedom day”, but remember there is still a pandemic, continue to wash hands, be kind, wear a mask in crowded indoor settings, always consider others.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, It's took me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance again!! A healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.

Day/Weight/Comment
7/31. 133.2 - good start to the round, let's keep it!! Under calories and all macros yesterday, just over 8 miles walked yesterday in-between rain!!
8/1 133.6 - 12.7 miles walked, well within calories & macros.
8/2. 133.6 - no structured walking yesterday; a big family celebration for the 1st liversary (liver transplant) for our 18 month DGS, brave little lion who has fought off so much in his little short life. Moments of remembrance too for the absent hero who together with her family so generously and unselfishly donated her liver & realisation that the 1 year anniversary will be so different for them, but she lives on in our little miracle, we will always be grateful, she will stay in our hearts forever. So grateful to NHS & wonderful surgeon too.
Can't deny I indulged; we had BBQ, cake and the adults a tad of champagne. 400 calories over, back to normal service today!
8/3 133.6 - 15.88 miles yesterday, we did 3 mile detour after encountering a field of cows in our path on our planned hike & cuz we've had a couple of "unsavoury" incidents with cows in the past if we can avoid them
we will!! All calories and macros in credit.
8/4. 134.4 - 14.2 miles walked yesterday. Calories and macros in credit.
8/5 134.4 – 9.67 miles walked yesterday before we headed home from our 5 day break in the Peak District, calories in credit but macros 36g over.
8/6 134 – 5.97 miles walked yesterday very briskly pushing DGS in buggy before the rain came ! Calories & all macros in credit.
8/7 135.2 – bbq last night with SIL & partner, ate over, but didn't go too mad & stopped when I'd had enough which is a NSV as often this is the recipe for starting a full 2 day binge! Ate late & also had quite a few alcoholic beverages interspersed with glasses of water. Nibbles were crisps & nuts, so sodium heavy!! This morning I need so much water!! 40oz straight off !! 10.93 miles walked yesterday. It is pizza night tonight, heavy carbs so may take a few days to lose this up tick.
8/8 135.4 – 10.51 miles walked yesterday, calories well in credit. Carbs 5g over; last day to make it count for the end of the round, but heavy rain makes walking doubtful today .
8/9 135.4 – 10.36 miles walked yesterday, calories in credit, 11g fat over. 1.8 pounds up from end of last round.
KEEP SAFE EVERYONE . Keep calm – be consistent, we're all in this together!

Recent Back Story:- 2018 goal: get back down to 160 ✅
- 2019 goal: proceed down to 150 ✅ with 2 months to spare
- 2020 goal: maintain below 150 dropping slowly down to 145 ✅ Strength training has slowed progress, but that’s okay.
- That's a WIN in my book!
- 2021
- Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.
- (One good thing about Covid is that I don't have to traverse the minefield of family celebration meals.)

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Day/Weight/Previous Day’s Comment
7/31 205.4 @ fishing camp 🎣 Walked 3.6 miles, power washed the dock, 1789 cal, 108 net carbs, 3 glasses wine. Took mom to the rehab center for her wrist and a lady behind us fell … took 3 people to get her up. Then neighbor at the camp fell hitting her head. She is 101 years old. Helped her until ambulance was able to make it out to our remote location. Then when her husband brought her back home he called again for me to help get her into bed. I did not sleep well. After seeing these 2 fall I REALLY want to lose weight. Being old, obese and not very mobile is not in my vision of my future. Ready to tackle August and lose more weight.
8/1 205.6 @ fishing camp 🎣 Walked 2.2 miles completing my 100 miles in July walking the dog! Gardening, fishing, 1435 cal, 86 net carbs, AF.
8/2 205.6 @ fishing camp 🎣 Walk .5 miles, fishing/casting for 3 hours and caught nothing, gardening digging up mom’s sago palm pups which is hard work, 1676 cal, 102 net carbs, 2 glasses wine. Not surprised … pizza for lunch & pasta for dinner. Fished in the morning and it was too hot to walk the dog in the afternoon. Headed back home today.
8/3 204.4 Walked 2.2 miles, long 5+ hr drive, cut and trashed large limb that fell out of neighbor’s tree into my yard while we were gone … plus cut the damage it made on my redbud tree, 1533cal, 81 net carbs, AF, tons of water. Behind on my walking toward 100 mile goal this week so I need to get walking.
8/4 202.8 Whoosh! Walked 3.1 + 2.2 miles, Bike 30min, 1552 cal, 71 net carbs, AF, guzzling water. Lightning when I got to the pool so delayed swimming laps until Thursday. Over 18000 steps today! All my rings closed and overlapped.
8/5 202.5 Walked 3.4 + 1 miles, Strength class 1 hr, 1532 cal, 83 net carbs, AF. Over 15.5k steps. Took my DIL out for birthday lunch at Bistro Menil and went to the Menil Art Museum. It is Houston Restaurant Weeks all of August! LOTS of really nice places that have special menus.
https://houstonrestaurantweeks.com/search/#menu-bistro-menil
8/6 202.9 Walked 3 + 1 miles, swam laps 400m, 1682 cal, 83 net carbs, AF.
🩺 Annual Physical & bloodwork today so fasting this morning.
8/7 203.7 Walked 1.3 miles then took the day off from other activity. 1404 cal, 56 net carbs, 2 wine. NOT enough water. DH & I were fasting for physical & bloodwork which went well. Then we went to Pappadeaux’s for a really nice lunch! Changed my plan for dinner … moved salmon night out to next Friday since I had not yet purchased the fish. I was able to take last night’s smoked chicken and make chicken salad wraps to go with our wine for a relaxing TGIF at home!
8/8 203.1 Walk 4.75 + .6 miles, Bike 30 min, 1569 cal, 68 net carbs, 3 wine. Tackled a long walk early in the day to make up for my lack of progress toward 100 miles in August AND try to get back down to 202.x.
8/9 203.2 Walked 1.4 miles, 1180 cal, 55 net carbs, AF. Books books books … reading & listening.
DOWN 2.4 lbs this round. Saw 202s but let them slip away. My new variety exercise routine is paying off on the scale and in reshaping this body! Happy that I’ve started strength training & swimming laps.
Scale has started moving in the right direction!

Round 158
SW: 194
Day/Weight/Comment
7/31: 194 - planning to walk to/from the movie theater today and to get in an upper body strength workout
8/1: 194.8 - Leg day was on Friday. I was hoping I’d skate by on soreness because yesterday wasn’t bad, but I’m feeling it today! I’ve done a good job on calories for the last few days, so I’m not at all worried about the weight gain. I’ve read that’s normal when starting strength training.
8/2: 194 - Yesterday’s strength work focused on my core. My whole body is sore today, but my legs less so than yesterday, which is great. I also rode my indoor bike yesterday. Managed to stay within my calorie range yet again.
8/3: 194.2 - Rest day yesterday. Felt good to do nothing much while my body recovered. Today was a lot more busy on the exercise front, but I also ate a bit more than I meant to. Oh well. Tomorrow is a new day.
8/4: 193.4
8/5: 192.4 - Happy with this number, but it’s going to go up tomorrow. I had a big lunch (plus dessert) with my coworkers. The truffle fries were delicious! It remains to be seen whether or not they will be worth the uptick in my weight though.
8/6: 193.6 - Oof!
8/7: 192.6 - Yesterday was arms day on the workout front. Not bad at all! Today is leg day and I’m not looking forward to it. Took a sneak peak at what’s in store for me and it’s basically nothing but lunges. My knees! Will definitely be doing some modifications. The rest of the day will be a lazy one. Going out for brunch and a movie. I’m going to try to be good at brunch time on the calorie front.
8/8: 192.6 - Had chicken and waffles at brunch yesterday. I saw people eating delicious looking cinnamon rolls, but I stuck to my plan and didn’t have dessert. Going to see another movie today, which I’ll walk to and from. I’ve also got an upper body workout to do. Busy day!
8/9: 194 - Disappointing to end the round where I started, but I continue to make good choices so I just need to stay the course.

It shuts them up for 10s while they apparently assess the situation and realize that there's nobody in the car. And of course every time the coyotes howled, the chihuahua pack let loose, and I don't sleep very soundly at the best of times. Finished my c25k, all 9 weeks, and am now trying (slowly) to get faster at it, as my run times would be embarrassing, should I run a race. Short (1 h) woods walk also in the plans. Good times. End of Round 157: 257.1

Day/Weight/Comment
07/31 - 257.7
08/01 - 256.4
08/02 - 256.4 Really going slow and steady lately which is kind of sad but I'm not giving up. Turned down a Wawa hoagie last night after seeing the calories in my wife's order. Wow those things aren't great! Got a salad instead and was just as satisfied. Ran 2.42 miles this morning for a 450 calorie burn. Hoping to see the hard work pay off on the scale again soon.
08/03 - 254.4 Not sure how much I can trust this number. Our AC died last night so probably sweat a lot more than usual overnight. Didn't work out this morning either. Hope the AC can be fixed tonight so life can get back to normal. I find setting round goals so hard because out of nowhere I'll get a drop and get the goal early, but I also don't want to set it too high.
08/04 - 253.8 Was feeling a bit tired this morning so I only did 2 miles running but it's still something. I'll probably do something tonight too because I always feel bad just sitting around now. Hoping this downward trend keeps up so I can see that 250 on the scale!
08/05 - 253.1 I think I figured my scale out. Sometimes it locks onto a number from the day before for whatever reason. So I figured if you step on with something and then weigh yourself normally, it resets. Getting more accurate numbers now. I ran 2.59 miles this morning in 20 minutes for 475 calorie burn. Getting better every day! I swear one day I'm going to try to run a 5k it's just another few minutes and would feel so good.
08/06 - 252.9 Not much to say today. I woke up late so could only get a 10 minute quick run in. Not sure if I'll do anything else tonight but who knows? I'll probably feel lazy sitting around.
08/07 - 252.9
08/08 - 251.1
08/09 - 250.9 Seeing the 250 on the scale for the first time is inspiring for sure. Was sidelined a bit over the weekend with stomach issues leading to sleep issues. But tomorrow we'll be back and ready to get under 250 for the next round!10 -

No, I'm actually hungry. I already drink 10 glasses of water per day. I am just plain hungry, but thanks for your suggestion. Some days I'm not hungry, but some days I am.5 -

Thank you @quiltingjaine for keeping this challenge going!
May 10, 2021 - 183.1 - just 2.9 pounds off 186, my heaviest weight ever - (stopped posting on this challenge July 2020 - very glad to be back!)
Round 158 Goals: 80oz water; row 30 mins, most days; free-weights; eat vegetables/fruit; IF most days; no sugar; Calorie/Carb cycle between 1000 to 1900 calories each day with an average between 1200 - 1500.
Next short-term goal: 162.X
169....168....167....166....165....164....163....162.X
SW: 169.2
7/31: 169.2 - Rowed and walked. Stayed within calorie range. 64oz water, and lots of vegetables and fruit. Good start!
8/01: 169.1
8/02: 169.6 I might see a higher weight for a few days. I think it would have been higher if I hadn't weighed so late today. I blew past even my normal high-calorie days that are planned. I mean way past - salt, carbs, sugar, drinks! However, it's just one day. It will not become two! I need water, water and more water.
8/03: 169.5
8/04: 169.3 My weight is nothing to get excited about today but I am excited that I did not let my one day binge go into 2 or 3 days! Yay!
8/05: DNW - early appointments
8/06: 168.7 I'm happy to see 168.x. Rowed 30 mins. Water still not what it should be. Hopefully 80oz today.
8/07: 168.7 It's always a good day when I don't bounce up after a day when I drop.
8/08: 168.6 Enjoying the vegetables from our garden - zucchini , summer squash, swiss chard, and cucumbers. Tomatoes are not ripe yet.
8/09: 169.2 hmmmm, I'm the same weight as when I started this round. There are many reasons why it jumped up and none have to do with me bingeing again (after my one-day fiasco on 8/2) so it doesn't concern me. I'm leaving 169 crossed off below because I'll be back to 168 any day. So excited for a new round!
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
180's; 170's; 160's; 150's; 140's; 130's
If I quit now, I'll soon be back where I started. And when I started, I so desperately wanted to be where I am now!
There is no going back! NOT THIS TIME!8 -
6/9: .....Finished my c25k, all 9 weeks, and am now trying (slowly) to get faster at it, as my run times would be embarrassing, should I run a race.
@chublet25 Way to go! Congrats!6 -

I like to track averages due to my wild fluctuations. For the same reason, I like to weigh daily so I can see the lows from time to time. It gives me hope.
Round 158
Month/Day: Exercise / Comment
7/31: 209.8
8/1: 208.8
8/2: 207.6
This may be the first weekend where I weighed less on Monday than I did on Friday. I was so busy working on and in my boat (the Kraken) that I didn’t have much time to eat. That’s one way to do it.
8/3: 208.6
I will take this.
8/4: 206.6
Getting close to my maintenance range goal with numbers like this. But I know this is just the low end of my usual yoyo. Steady plodding ahead. (and lunch out with friends today….)
8/5: 206.0
Because of a group like this, I was able to fight off some big food urges last night. This is a period (few days) of discipline for me that is frankly uncommon.
8/6: 205.8
Waiting for the yoyo. In the mean time I will enjoy it.
8/7: DNW
Got up early to go fishing, so no reading today.
8/8: 208.6
The residue of a Family Reunion Picnic yesterday. A festival of salt and carbs well enjoyed. Stayed inside of calorie goal.
8/9: 209:
Further side effects of the picnic including leftovers yesterday.
Still, this was a good round for me. Major goal met. Average weight down 2.8 ponds from previous 10-day. In fact it has been a year since my 10-day average has been this low. Not bad for a two-weekend round.

7/31 - 241.8 (-.2) I’m surprised that I dropped. I had my indulgence meal last night and expected a bump. But I’ll definitely take it. I did count my calories as close as I could figure out and was only a few hundred above my daily allowance. I worked out at Orange Theory Fitness yesterday. I have a two day workshop today and tomorrow so I’m planning to take my snacks and lunch.
8/1 - 242 (0) I walked for about a half hour yesterday just to get a little exercise in after sitting most of the day in class. I stay within my calorie goal and have a bit of a bounce, but not too bad. I’m going to miss my Sunday hiking today, but am really enjoying this class.
8/2 - 242.6 (+.6) Ahhh. Here’s the bounce from my indulgence meal on Friday night. I’m expecting to do well for the rest of the week and will finally get back to my exercise routine. I stayed within my calorie goals over the last two days during class.
8/3 - 242.2 (+.2) Yesterday, I worked for a friend in his shop all day. It was a crazy day on my feet, which hasn’t happened for a very long time. It was exhausting and challenging. I told him I’d help a couple days a week. After a weekend workshop and yesterday’s work, I haven’t been in my regular exercise routine. Today is swimming…back in the pool. I’m really looking forward to it.
8/4 - 241.2 (-.8) Swimming was wonderful and I did eat all my calories including 500 exercise calories. Today I’m back at the shop and adding in a couple extra hundred calories for my active day that won’t show up as exercise.
8/5 - 241.8 (-.2) Yesterday was another busy day working at the frame shop. I ate dinner late and am not surprised I had a bit of a gain. Hoping today’s swim and getting in my food before 6pm and drinking all my liquids will mean a really good loss tomorrow.
8/6 - 241.2 (-.8) I little disappointed, but still plugging away. Yesterday’s swim was wonderful and I’m heading to Orange Theory Fitness this morning. I’ve been reading the posts under “What No one Tells You About Losing Weight” on MFP and it’s been really inspiring.
8/7 - 240.8 (-1.2) My indulgence meal is today. I’ll definitely count it and go from there. I’m walking with my dogs at one of our amazing dog parks. We’ll all have fun and get some good exercise.
8/8 - 241 (-1) Up a little today and probably more tomorrow since I had my indulgence meal yesterday. I tried on my size 22 jeans last night and they were really big. Not so big they’ll fall down, but it was a good way to measure some of my progress. I’m into my 20’s. Hiking is on the exercise menu today.
8/9 - 240 (-2.0) Woohoo! I’m down today and while I didn’t hit my goal, I’m thrilled with this new low weight. Onward and downward!!

Maybe something didn't agree with me last night (normal dinner - baked chicken, rice, and corn on the cob so not sure). Drank my 90 oz water. Feeling a little better now as I keep sipping my water so may take pup for a walk later, if not tonight. Will hopefully be good to go for tomorrow's run. Yesterday was a complete rest day, rather lazy, too, but I guess I best listen to my body. Plus, TOM could be here any time in the next 4 or so days so I'll work around that. I know I usually bloat and weight goes up so hopefully this is just a strong bad pre-TOM situation and it'll settle down shortly.
Previous Day's Comments7/31 - DNP
8/01 - Sad day, kids left early this morning. Hoping a Christmas visit, but no guarantees. Next time (guaranteed) will be spring break in March. I woke up and drank some water then went back to sleep once they were off. Definitely didn't sleep long enough and felt that the water I drank this first wake up would've skewed my weigh in. Just me today, pushing water as best I can. Storms now, no rain but little flashes of lightning and definitely thunder in distance so didn't risk trying to run. Should be WFH this week (minus afternoon training Thurs) but can squeeze in a workout in the morning, still. Will try to get a little ahead on my 5k training since I'm now a week from my last run. Hopefully groceries will be easier (and cheaper) now with kiddos gone (how do they eat so much?!?!) that I can get back on healthier eating without coming home to all my prepped foods for work eaten.
8/02 - Expected, likely a delayed uptick from the weekend with the kiddos (we splurged for their last few days) Went on a run since it rained last night and forecast to rain this morning (when I left for my run, it said 8am. Now 9am... oh well, at least I knocked it out before the rain). Definitely struggled with it, but I did more than I did on my last run so progress regardless. Definitely need to figure out how to run when I'm commuting to/from work, even if it's just short. The 1 week gap between really took a toll. Unsure of food today, and I may need to go grocery shopping for some stuff. Will try to stick with veggies for me. And fruit for a sweet treat.
8/03 - Back down to ending weight of last round. Just barely shy (I'd say 5-8oz) from my 90oz water goal. Didn't want to wake up in the middle of the night, though. Already ran this morning since today is busy busy with meetings and it's supposed to warm up now that the rain/storms have gone. Definitely less muggy/humid, though, and that helped me feel better during the run. Dinner was salty, but it was a last minute poor-man's goulash made with whatever we had on hand (had some thawed venison we needed to cook up before it went bad). Unsure of today's dinner. Lunch will be leftover goulash and maybe some steamed veggies if I can find in our deep freeze (ugh, I hate chest freezers. Goal in life: get a stand up freezer!) Fasting until after my meetings since I won't eat until my green tea is done and then back to back meetings until noon. Great thing about busy days? Can't break my fast early if I'm busy working! When willpower fails, distraction always works hehe
8/04 - Not sure..normal uptick? I drank my 90oz water. Ate fairly healthy (a bit of brownie I couldn't even finish for dessert since they were going bad...man I miss having the kiddos around). Oh well. Finished my run today, definitely improved. My 1st km was 2 seconds slower (10 min warmup walk, likely) but my 2nd and 3rd km (where my 30sec sprints and 10min free form run are) were faster. And I ran the full 10 minute free form! First time doing that. I was dying, but I had my podcast in and just tried to focus on belly breathing, tucking my hips under (yay for no back pain after researching that!) and the story in the podcast. Still have until Nov 20th to build up and I'm making better progress than I thought I would. Good thing, too, since I'll be commuting some weeks and unable to run.
8/05 - FamHub made wings last night at BF's request. No matter if I eat them plain or with sauce/seasoning, I always get a pretty good uptick from them the next day. This is that uptick. Expected, not worried about it. Do have to go in to work for CPR hands on training this afternoon. 3 hour round trip for a 1.5 hour training, yuck. This may impact my water intake since driving an hour and a half without many spots to stop for a bathroom is not ideal. I'll try to make it up where I can. No running today since I'm not sure I'll have time to shower once BF gets up and moving and before I have to leave. I'll try, but not making promises to myself, to knock out a run tomorrow. Just BF and I this weekend, Fam going to see some family friends this weekend so should be easier to knock out my own goals.
8/06 - Wing uptick fell off. Got about 65-70oz despite the driving yesterday. Dinner was steak, homemade mashed potatoes and garlic butter asparagus. I even have some leftover for lunch today (super yuuuum). I have some lettuce that needs used up so I may just do a lettuce salad on the side since I didn't have leftover asparagus. Ran this morning. W3D1 killed me. The training changed up a lot. 5 min walk, 5 min free form run, [1 min run, 1 min walk, 10 seconds knee lifts/high knees]x5, 8 min free form run, 2 min stretch/walk, 8 min free form run. Had to walk for about 45 seconds twice on the last run due to the beginnings of side stitch but I ran everything else! My Fitbit says 3.11 miles on the dot. Zombies, Run! app says 4.88km (3.03mi). Either way, really close to the 5km distance I'm training for. Aim today was to hit 3 miles so I pulled it off! Now to get the running more consistent and work on speed. My only other 5k I've run (the entire thing) was 37:11 so I'm hoping to beat that
8/07 - DNP
8/08 - Yay, no change. I'll take that. Not sure plans for today but hopefully something outdoorsy. No running this morning, and likely not tomorrow, will take these as rest days.

8/3: 58.8 kg - 7,070 steps.
8/4: 59.9 kg - Hmmm Maybe I need to start tracking calories again to make sure I'm at deficit. EDIT: Goal - Food + Exercise = Remaining (1,200 - 1,047 + 404 = 557). For exercise, I went on a 3k morning run and a 30 minute evening walk.

Yesterday I signed up for a 10K in September. It’s been 4 years since I did a 10K and a half marathon and I thought the goal & the t-shirt would motivate me. I’ll be walking to doing W/R intervals. So my new walking goal (having completely blown off my last one) is 100 miles by Sept. 1. Oh, and this is my lowest weight in 6 months. Finally moving in the right direction!
8/01 - 187.4 - 1419
DH made Boboli pizza last night so I think some of this is salt. He made it pretty healthy, though — lots of veggies. Also a reminder that it can’t just be an easy downhill run! All good. I didn’t go for me extended walk yesterday because of foot cramps Fri night, but I did walk all over Meijer for about half an hour of shopping! Off for a walk in a few minutes. Enjoy your Sunday, all!
8/02 - 187.4 - 1299
I kept my walk short yesterday and didn’t measure or record it. I’m still fighting leg/foot cramps, but I’ve upped my magnesium and it seems to be helping. It’s very cool this morning so I’m shooting for more distance. I was hungry at bed time bought fought it off — no midnight snack! All in all I feel much more in control. I’ve accepted that it’s going to be a long ride. Fat cells are stubborn!
8/03 - 187.9 - 2022
Oops. I had a major snack attach last night. No idea why, but I was very conscious of what I was doing and did it anyway. Back on track. My leg & foot cramps have stopped, so I’m back to walking this morning. Increasing my magnesium has made a big difference in just a few days. Yay!
8/04 - 187.7 - 1460
That’s better all the way around.
8/05 - 187.9 - 2203
Another oops. Oh, well.
8/06 - 187.6 - 1332
8/07 - 187.8 - 1800
Had a snack attack last night. Oh well — onward! I’ve had to skip walks for a few days due to pain in my foot — no idea what I did to it. Swelling is down today, though, so I’ll get out there when the rain and lightning are gone. Have a lovely Saturday!
8/08 - 188.8 - 1805
WTH is wrong with me? I can’t seem to stop eating. Grrr.
8/09 - 188.8 - 1675
Well, I’ve crunched my numbers since Feb. again, and there’s no way around it. My weight has stayed 187-189 that whole time, and my average calories over that time = about 1665, with is very close to what both MFP and SailRabbit give me for maintenance, which is reassuring in terms of trusting them . So I have to stop the magical thinking and cut my calories. I knew that, right? I know that! Jeesh. See you in R159.6 -
tiabirdie56 wrote: »@deepwoodslady, Donna, I read over my previous days food diary every morning. I add food that I didn't record or I remove food that I didn't eat. Your food diary is YOUR FOOD DIARY. It doesn't matter if you've closed it out for the day. I never use the term self sabotage. It is hunger or stress eating.
Hunger is my cue that I just haven't eaten enough throughout the day. So, I eat a little extra of the proper foods. Sometimes we can be so focused on losing weight that we keep our calories too low. For years I've been in the habit of filling in my next day's food diary ahead of time. I base recorded amounts on what I usually eat. I weigh and measure everything. Some days I need more to eat. I don't deny myself. I also plan a day, every couple of weeks, to eat up to my maintenance calories.
I also don't store any of my trigger foods, so when it comes to stress eating, I have to get in my car and go shopping! That's enough to keep me straight. Now. Last year, I gained 30lbs. Why? I had all my trigger foods in my house.
@tiabirdie56
I have been avoiding my trigger foods, even laying them back down in the stores or avoiding the aisles in the grocery store altogether which is a great NSV for me. However, if I decide to overeat or binge, I can even do it on my "diet" foods or my pre-prepped meals. There is nothing that I can't overeat. It is a good idea not to focus on the negativity of the words "self-sabotage". Even though I clearly see the pattern of undermining my own successes, I will try to be more positive about the process. Stress? yes....for sure. Between the well problems, the bat in the house and the s...l...o...w renovations, if my hair wasn't falling out so badly already, I would pull it out. However, after reading your message, I am going for positivity and calm today. Like my pastor always said, you can rock all day long in that rocking chair of fret and worry but you'll find, even with all the movement, you are never really getting anywhere at all.6 -
@CamandJarvis, May I suggest to you not to eat corn? We (humans) lack the enzymes to break down corn. We cannot digest it.3

07/30 …..194.2….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
07/31 …..192.4 ….. Goodbye water retention! A nice whoosh after being up shedding water all night. I got 6 hours and 10 minutes of sleep which is AMAZING for me so even that didn't interfere with wonderful sleep! Yesterday I was just under allotted calories (I don’t eat back exercise). I didn’t get very much movement in and my water intake was low again. A so-so day but the scale rewarded me for my efforts at home (even though my travel habits are still yet to be desired). Welcome to all the newbies. You will love it here! Thanks Jaine for another round!
08/01 …..191.4 ….. Didn’t have much time to eat yesterday and dinner was very late (within 1 hour of bed). No water here since yesterday morning due to well problems. Seal was fixed (???) but no one can get the pump primed. Perhaps the check gauge went out when it was turned off? IDK but this is horrible!
08/02 …..189.6 ….. Wow! I did not expect that even though yesterday was a good day plan-wise. However, no water since Saturday morning due to the well pump problems. I contacted a local plumber who is not sure if he can come today or tomorrow. Ugg. Anyway, I am being sparse on all water usage to save for toilet so I am probably a bit dehydrated. I don’t know that this weight will stick. I am never confident in a new weight bracket until I hit a certain number within it. If I get to 187 point anything, I will feel it is real. Had some peanut butter last night to up my protein. OMGosh. I’ve been counting carbs so long I didn’t realize how many calories were in there! That put me at the top of my calorie allowance and I couldn’t have a snack later. I don’t think I will do that again anytime soon!
08/03 …..190.4 ….. Gorgeous beautiful clean water flowing from my well again. This uptick is from some massive rehydrating and that cheese pizza last night (both at the same time!). I threw away the crust and kept my calories at 1275 with 503 in the green. So this is likely the water weight and I am hopeful that I can actually dip back into the 180’s soon! When I picked the pizza up from the convenience store (pizza shop was closed), I carried around a bag of little Debbie donuts for dessert (which I put back and didn’t buy). I also put the icecream back into the freezer. And that cheese Danish went right back on the shelf after I carried it around for 5 minutes waiting on the pizza. I held each item close to my heart and longed for them individually or together. But I decided not to self-sabotage and I am so glad I was strong enough. I kept the pizza at 700 calories and made up for it later to stay within goal. That is my NSV and I’m pretty darn proud of it!
08/04 …..191.6 ….. I ended up going out of town yesterday to do some shopping for DGD 1st birthday coming up. Also some building supplies for drywall project. Got my son out of the house and had a nice but high calorie dinner. Today I woke up tired and unrefreshed. However, I will try to get in more movement, drink more water and watch my diet more carefully. It may take a few days but this will come back down.
08/05 …..191.2 ….. Still fighting some water retention from the travel but this looked better on the scale. Well stopped working again yesterday morning so all day yesterday was sheer hell. Doctors appointments today and no easy way to be clean. Part-time neighbor is here visiting next door. I’m going to hit him up for some shower for me and son. This sux!
08/06 …..191.0 ….. Great doctor’s report yesterday. My A1C went from 13.7 down to 9.4 since my May appointment. My Dr. was thrilled. I go back next month for another check. My weight was down 21 pounds from my May appointment. Another good news: The dealership delivered my new(er) vehicle today to me. I love it! I’m hoping it will do as well in the winter months as my last one. Bad news: Although water is still running so far (well man got it going yesterday evening) it is clammering and clanking and he doesn’t think it will hold up. We are planning a new well pump next week. At first he said this weekend, then texted the change. Praying water will keep flowing until then. My University Hospital oncology appointment and mammogram appointment is next Thursday. I am watching extra carefully everything I eat and do until then. Weight is key to the type of cancer that I have (in remission). I want them to know I am trying really hard to do my part.
08/07 …..190.0 ….. Happily it’s still going back down. I still have water and I haven’t seen the bat so all is well today in this tiny little Northern Michigan USA town.
08/08 …..190.6 ….. I hate typing my weight this morning in the color Oh-So-Sad-Blue but that is what I do when any gain is actually something I caused. I was so hungry at 3:00 AM that I went back to the fridge and warmed up my dinner leftovers meant for lunch today. That put me in the red on my MFP food logging by 46 calories after eating all my exercise calories back. I got such a good doctors report and then I got so close to the 180’s by weighing in at 190.0 yesterday I know this was self-sabotage. I do it often. I wonder why I have to ruin it for myself and create more challenges for myself everytime I am near success? Why can’t I just let myself succeed or be happy? BTW, I went back in this morning and changed my food log for yesterday after my late-night meal. Is that what I am supposed to do, even after it’s been posted on the home thread? How do all of you handle this? Also, I would love to hear all thoughts on self-sabotage. I’m still down over 3 pounds this round. I am going to work on my better diet and lifestyle today. I want to finish strong. No self-sabotage today if I've got ANYTHING to say about it!!
08/09 …..189.6 ….. Down 4.6 lbs this round so that is wonderful. My doctor’s appointments certainly helped keep me on track for the most part. I am starting the next round at a lower rate than I have been in a very long time. Apprehensive but trying to stay positive. I can do this! Nice to see so many successes by so many this round. See you tomorrow in the next round!

08/09 …..xxxxx …..
If I eat after midnight I enter it in the new day's log and am then able to adjust that days eating to "accomodate" the late night eating; don't know if that is what should be done, but it seems it's the only way to "manage" it!!
@musicsax Thanks for the tip. I think if I have to pay for it the next day, it may help me to resist or choose a light snack if absolutely necessary next time so this seems to be a great idea!2 -

I'll be back on the first day of R159! Best wishes as you finish this round and start the next one. 😄
Welcome!!4 -
Finished my c25k, all 9 weeks, and am now trying (slowly) to get faster at it, as my run times would be embarrassing, should I run a race. Short (1 h) woods walk also in the plans. Good times. See y'all in the next round!
I'm only on week 3 of mine (skipped W3D2 this morning) but if we were closer, I'd run with you! We could be slow together, but at least we can say we did it! Super proud of you!!! (Also, thanks for inspiring me to do C25K when I signed up for the race. I was going to wing it until I saw all your updates on it)

Yeah, I try not to eat it very often but we had some going bad from kids (their request) and don't like to waste food. Typically dinner is with some vegetable and I keep steaming veggies in stock for those last minute meals. Usually, though, corn doesn't cause me to react like this, at least not this bad. @deepwoodslady and @musicsax A new day begins at midnight, IMHO. 3AM would be a new day. If one was doing shift work that might change one’s outlook.2

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

8/7 115.0 DH baked cookies yesterday. I could have eaten a bunch but did OMAD around noon. Ate only 1/2 of cookie. I can’t believe it’s almost the end of another 10 days!
8/8 115.5
8/9 115.5 Great Greek for lunch yesterday with DD#2 and DSIL. (3rd Sunday in a row!😁♥️) This was an interesting week food wise. I ate several products with refined flour and they have not caused an increase in my weight but my knees are hurting again like they did 4 years ago.4
