What about vanilla cones for $1 and ~240 to ~300 Cal all summer long... if the mcdonald's soft ice cream machine is WORKING?!?!?!
I mean, I have PROOF that if you eat 50+ of them in a year it MAKES you lose >70lbs -- because I did!*

👀 here for the cheeseburgers 🍔 😋2

This thread is like a disagree party.
Calling @callsitlikeiseeit to see if there’s any alternate meaning to that kind of fest. I’m a little gunshy now.

If (as he stated) CR has free socialized medicine I would imagine that lends itself to all kinds of poor advice by just about anyone.
The problem with all of his claims is that there is a kernel of truth in them (just like many weight and nutrition myths,) but he twists them and then states them in absolutes as if they are the magic golden plates...
Since I've been unemployed, my socialized healthcare through the VA has been free. Aside from female-specific care, it's no worse than BCBS, and in many cases better.
There are good doctors and bad doctors everywhere.
The care I got when we lived in Canada was very good. Not perfect. But very good.
And my Canadian friends have no major complaints about their healthcare.
As for the VA? We’ve been using the VA for my husband for just about a decade. It can be difficult to find certain specialty care, such as geriatrics. But in all that time we’ve only had one bad experience. And it was the behavior of a nurse who was sub-par, not a doctor. In ten years? That’s not bad.
I’ve even had to use a free clinic in the US a few times when my financial situation was not good. And, yes, there were difficulties. Mostly due to miscommunication and long wait times. But it was never the doctor that was bad in those cases.
I don’t know about the medical regulations in Costa Rica. But the standard advice for diabetics is the same all over the world.
And by “same” I don’t mean 45 carbs per meal and 15 for snacks, and I don’t mean 20 carbs per day. I mean a reasonable limit to carbs, fats, and calories, that the patient is able to manage happily on their own, along with any medications that will benefit them. Which varies from patient to patient.
OP has said that they only treat one type of diabetic patient. Which means their dietary and medication advice will not apply to most people.
Why they continue to give this rigid advice to a bunch of people on the Internet is a bit baffling to me. Especially since this is the sort of thing that doctors can - and have - had their licenses revoked for.
It’s almost as bad as selling viagra through the mail without examining the patient.
Or as bad as saying a certain herb that is available over the counter in some areas, and is against the law in other areas, is a part of a cure for diabetes.
Patients do need to be careful when choosing a medical practitioner. There are some dangerous ones.
Furthermore cheeseburgers are OK.
But sliders are where it’s at!
Unless they have cilantro on them. Cilantro doesn’t belong on sliders.4 -
Slider is a good choice.
I'm going Bison burger with herbed goat cheese. BISON burgers are BY FAR the best thing you can do for your HEALTH.1 -
