Just not shifting.

3 full weeks at calorie goal and still the same on the scales. I’m at the end of my tether.
Help.

    Much more info needed 😉
    Height, weight, age, gender?
    What is your activity level?
How many calories are you eating?
How are you logging your food: weighing everything and making sure you use accurate food database entries?
Are you weighing daily or weekly? Is your weight exactly the same or is it fluctuating?

So I’m 62yrs. 90kg. 1200 a day. Usually walk 5k a day or swim for 30 mins. Stretch and yoga every morning. I’m a serial yo yo dieter. But recently been on point. Lost initially 5stone with 2 stone to go. I weight literally everything. And weight fluctuates but only about 0.01 or so. I’m about to crack. Trying to get a bit of a reward.

Ohh weigh weekly. Because daily just depresses

Weight loss is not linear, stalls are normal and 3 weeks isn't that long. Add to that the fact that you weigh weekly, you might coincidentally have had a few weigh-ins at the same number, but might have seen different numbers in between if you had weighed daily.

1200 calories is low though, very low for someone weighing 90kg. Over what time period did you lose those 5 stone?

If you're about to crack, I have a feeling you're being way too strict with your food intake. There are no bonus points for suffering. Considering that you mention being a yo-yo dieter, you might consider a different approach, built on gradually changing habits and making the weight loss journey as easy as possible.

The key in losing weight, and take this from someone who has lost over 192 pounds, is to make small, SUSTAINABLE changes. this is a long term effort. not a sprint. you will not lose weight fast. you will not lose weight every week. you will have weeks on end with NO weight loss. its normal. trust the process.

You've got this. Take it one day at a time, and each day, try to do a little bit better. Don't try to do everything all at once. Don't try to make 1000 changes all at once. Most people who burn out, do so because they try to do too much, too soon. start small. build from there. You did not gain the weight quickly. You will not lose it quickly. Better to lose it slowly, and KEEP IT OFF, then lose it quick, and gain it all back and more!

I've been at this a long time. It becomes a part of your life, and like any other habit, you don't think about it much, really. Your eating habits slowly change. You weigh and log your food. Your activity levels (usually) change, at least to some degree. You become more mindful of what you are putting in your shopping cart and body. My one (or two) words of caution is to make these changes slowly. Most people who go 'All in' head first and full steam, burn out quick. Your first couple of weeks, maybe even first month, most people will lose a fair amount fairly quickly, but most of it is water weight (usually from a reduction in carbs). It does slow down, as your body adjusts. It's normal, and is SUPPOSED to happen, so don't get discouraged. Also, don't set your calories too low. The fastest rate of loss (1200 for women and 1500 for men) is not the best rate of loss. Although very tempting to set it to lose faster, it will make it harder for you to maintain and stick to your calorie goals because you will be ... well, hungry. Be kind to yourself, give yourself a few more calories, and you will still lose weight and be less likely to deviate from your plan and therefore more likely to succeed. :)

Bump your calories for a little while. Eat 1500 for a week.

My thanks to all who took the time to answer. I’m a long time loser too. And yea took me all of my 20s. and 30s to gain the weight. So I’m an impatient dieter. My big problem now is I have a bum knee. Waiting for replacement surgery and it’s really had an impact on my fitness levels. That said I still get my cardio in almost daily. As we have a consept 2 rower. Boring but no imparting the knees.
So weigh day is a Tuesday and then that’ll be 4 weeks without a move. Then I may try a reset and fast a few days
    👍🏼🤞❤️❤️❤️

no one, anywhere on this thread has suggested you fast.

If anything, we suggested you eat at maintenance a few days to give your body a BREAK and a REST.

Fasting will cause your body more stress and possibly more water retention.

Do you use a food scale to crunch your numbers? Measure all liquids with calories?

    Are you weighing condiments?

My husband never believed me when I told him he was putting 3-400 calories dressing on his salad til he joined me here and started weighing.

I’ll never forget his hand stopping mid pour as he remembered he forgot to weigh, and his traumatized expression as he realized exactly how much one serving was.

He’s now a Walden Farms convert, like me.

Same for butter, peanut butter, walnuts, sour cream, Mayo, ketchup etc. in his mind, they weren’t “food” per se, so didn’t count.

With 28 pounds to go, 1200 seems aggressive?

Fasting helped me focus. Is an 800 c a day and only for two days. Did it before after a holiday or Christmas. So I’m not thinking at all anyone would suggest it. Only a bit of a shout out to other losers who have had the same stall
    Appreciate the comments for sure.
And I weigh everything. Dressings. Can be the worst for sure 😳🤗

If I eat anywhere near my recommended maintenance calories I’d just put on. So my metabolism must be rubbish

Please don't fast if you're weight doesn't go down Tuesday, your intake is low already. Consider an alternative, eating at maintenance a few days or a week to give your body (and mind) a break. Water retention from stress is a real thing.

Thank you. I’ve decided to bump the calories Tuesday if no movement. Imagine being afraid to eat more. Who’d have thought 😳🤗

There are mistakes that people commonly make that cause them to not lose weight that we might be able to spot if you change your Diary Sharing settings to Public: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings
