    Day 57…..12/17…..189.6…..(Trend weight 190.2) Same old story. Good meals, bad snacks. I’ve got to keep the junk out of the house but it’s hard with others here. And hard during the holidays. I MUST get into the right frame of mind. But don’t worry, my friends, sometimes I do give in, but I never give up! I’m babysitting my grandson today and enjoying his company but my poor decorations don’t appreciate him very much right now!

    Day 58…..12/18…..191.2…..(Trend weight 190.3) Well, for Crying out Loud! I had a much better day yesterday with my meals. Snacks improved too. Even a little more movement was likely due to chasing a young grandson, However, no TMI, up early to go shopping today (no sleep) and very little water. It’s more than just the food, clearly, that affects our weight and fluctuations, just as @dawnbgethealthy and @Lilylady3k has so recently shared. Wow! Travel today will be much further than usual to Christmas shop with my daughter who is living with me right now. I love that we can spend the day together. However, the scale will not like me any better tomorrow. Out of town restaurants are such a treat for us!

    Day 59…..12/19…..191.0…..(Trend weight 190.4) A small drop on the scale after the way I ate yesterday during my travels and city Christmas shopping? I’m sure that lunch and dinner from yesterday (over-abundance) will rear it’s ugly head on the scale in the coming days. It was nice to (mainly) finish my shopping and spend time in the city with my daughter!


    Day 60…..12/20…..191.2…..(Trend weight 190.5) Up & Down like a teeter-totter within a 0.2 range. Lots of movement on the scale but getting nowhere. Almost getting motion sickness here! I attended a funeral Home Memorial Service for a friend of 20 years yesterday. She died unexpectedly of an asthma attack. She was 55. She had struggled with severe allergies and breathing issues her entire life but this was still a shock. It was heart breaking to see the family. Our entire community was devastated. What a wonderful service it was and the whole town was there. I was happy to see such a tremendous turn-out which I am sure helped to console the family a bit. Goodbye 2021. You were not a very good year in my life. I can’t wait for 2022. Heaven shines a little brighter today because of Dawn. What a fitting name!

    Ingredients:
    3/4 cup butter, melted
    2/3 cup bacon grease (can use olive oil)
    1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
    1 TB salt (I use less)
    2 tsp celery salt
    2 TB garlic powder
    1-2 TB Tabasco sauce (calls for 2 tsp but I use more)
    Sprinkle red pepper
    REALLY SEASONING IS TO TASTE ... make sure it is spicy to your taste before pouring on the rest of the ingredients.
    1 (9 oz) box Cheerios cereal
    2 (14 oz) box Chex cereal (Rice & Wheat) 1 (15 oz) bag pretzel sticks
    4 cups pecans
    2 cups peanuts

    Instructions:
    Sprinkle red pepper
    1 (9 oz) box Cheerios cereal
    2 (14 oz) box Chex cereal (Rice & Wheat) 1 (15 oz) bag pretzel sticks
    4 cups pecans
    2 cups peanuts
    Mix butter and bacon grease. Add next 5 ingredients. Pour mixture over the snack mixture in a large roasting pan. Bake 2 hours at 200 degrees. Stir about every 15 minutes. Store in canisters while hot.

    I cook it in a large roasting pan. Then when I take it out of the oven I usually spread it out on cookie sheets to let it crisp up. Then store in tins or ziplocks!

    If I don't have 500 calories in the Green on the tracker (on average) I don't lose weight.

    Day 59: Sun, 12/19: 135.6 - Groan, up 2 pounds since Friday. I always say that it takes 2-3 days for things to register in either direction. I have another food party starting at 9pm tonight - a work party. Lol, I am normally in my jammies by 7. Skating today at an arena, and shoveling snow, so hoping to pre-emptively mitigate tonight's party.
    Day 60: Mon, 12/20: 135.8 - Extremely active day, then a late night work party/dinner. Might have mitigated a large gain.

I have another food party starting at 9pm tonight - a work party. Lol, I am normally in my jammies by 7. Skating today at an arena, and shoveling snow, so hoping to pre-emptively mitigate tonight's party.

More paperwork and business for my brother is due today. I don’t even feel like I can raise a pencil to paper! It’s the food choices.

    12/09.…..190.4…..(Trend Weight 189.7)….. Same weight for 3 days in a row but my trend weight is creeping up 0.1 each and every day. I still haven’t made the changes I need to. I am not eating my meals proper, then I’m snacking too much at night turning snacks into meals. Cravings are all over the place. Back and forth from salt to sweet. Glucose numbers still up, even with new meds. I am not even giving them a chance to work. Self-sabotage is putting it mildly. I promise myself everyday that it will change today, and then I begin the tasks for my brother’s death and I either lean on food for comfort, or I get too busy to plan for success. I suppose the first part of success and change is recognition, so here I am standing at the confessional podium. Better planning is next and success (while currently elusive) is mine to take.

    12/10.…..189.8…..(Trend Weight 189.7)….. I went up to the store yesterday and bought some sugar-free Russell Stovers individually wrapped candy. When the sweet cravings hit me in bed, I had 3 pcs. Tonight I will move it to 2 pieces. Cutting out the night time sugar binge seems to have helped the scale. I’m still too much of a mess since the death to really focus as I should, but any change will help at this point. Today I will choose a better breakfast also.

    12/11.…..190.6…..(Trend Weight 189.8)….. Waited too long for dinner due to unexpected company over. Then I overate. Dinner at 11:30 pm.

    12/12.…..192.0…..(Trend Weight 190.0)….. Out to dinner with a friend who helped move out some of my brother’s furniture as we empty the house. Pasta and a shared dessert in the same meal made for a horrible scale reading today.

    12/13.…..192.2…..(Trend Weight 190.2)….. Small fluctuation with no TMI. Travel today for building supplies and product returns won’t help. I’ll not be home until later tonight after dark.
    12/14.…..191.6…..(Trend Weight 190.4)….. The Covid booster hit me hard yesterday while I was out of town. Got home and stayed in bed for 12 full hours. I was lethargic and dizzy. Today it is all gone and was well-worth the tiredness. Nothing wrong with a little extra sleep anyway. Today is hair appointment, then all things Christmas related.

    12/15……190.4…..(Trend Weight 190.4)….. Snacks not so good but meals were on point. Happy to see the scale down by 1.2. I have a lot of catching up to do.

    12/16……189.2…..(Trend Weight 190.3)….. Chocolate cream pie but otherwise meals and quantities were good thus the drop in weight. Yesterday was a very busy day full of appointments and commitments. Fit in a little wrapping and a bit of cleaning. I hope to do more today around the house.

    12/17.…..189.6…..(Trend Weight 190.2)….. Well, I guess I should be happy that the trend weight is still trickling down. It’s giving me a chance I probably don’t deserve. I can do better.


    12/18.…..191.2…..(Trend Weight 190.3)….. I’m disappointed and frustrated as yesterday was a better dietary day than I’ve had in awhile. I also moved a lot chasing a toddler grandson around most of the day. No TMI is likely the reason but it still is so disheartening! Shopping today over 100 miles away each way. Restaurants and car sitting won’t help but there will be walking in the stores.

    12/19.…..191.0…..(Trend Weight 190.4)….. A small drop on the scale after the way I ate yesterday during my travels and city Christmas shopping? I’m sure that lunch and dinner from yesterday (over-abundance) will rear it’s ugly head on the scale in the coming days. It was nice to (mainly) finish my shopping and spend time in the city with my daughter!

    12/20.…..191.2…..(Trend Weight 190.5)….. I attended a viewing and full memorial service yesterday for a friend I’ve known for 20 years. She was 55. She died suddenly after an asthma attack. She used her inhaler, dropped to the ground and never recovered. Such a shock! It was difficult seeing the extreme grief of her children and her husband. This will be a hard one to get over. I say goodbye and good riddance to 2021!

    12/21.…..191.4…..(Trend Weight 190.5)….. I had a full-on binge yesterday of BBQ chips and donuts that I bought at the store when I went to get water. It was so bad that I skipped dinner just to off-set the calories. I feel like death warmed over today. I have none of the energy that good foods would have given me. This is just another example of my food killing me, like a poison because of my relationship with it. I’ve got to do better! I know this was emotional eating. Too many death's this month. But it solves nothing!

    Day 50…..12/10…..189.8…..(Trend weight 189.7) I went shopping yesterday for some sugar-free candy. I hope this helps the cravings. My meals were not exactly “dietetic” but they were healthy. My glucose is back down today to 219. That is still too high but much better than the past couple of days so the sugar-free versions helped. I’m working my way back to healthy habits, one day at a time. I owned the house my brother lived in. There is much work to do in the clean-out and paint etc. He was a heavy smoker so it’s going to be a chore. I’ll have to pull my handyman from my projects and get him over there asap. I rely on the rental income as part of my retirement. So many details….. I dropped the obituary off to the funeral home and gave them a picture. Our paper is only once per week so he will be in next Wednesday’s paper. It’s so hard to focus on things with diet, Christmas, glucose, death, landlord stuff etc. I am scattered. One day at a time…… I hate my mid-way progress below. Did I just really say “Progress”? Ugh!

    Halfway Progress Report: …..Pounds Lost so Far: I HAVE GAINED 4.2 POUNDS SINCE THE START OF THIS CHALLENGE ROUND. I HAVE SOME WORK TO DO, BUT DON’T COUNT ME OUT JUST YET!!!!


    Day 51…..12/11…..190.6…..(Trend weight 189.8) Waited too long for dinner due to unexpected company over. Then I overate. Dinner at 11:30 pm. Early wake-up and weigh-in after 3.5 hours of sleep.


    Day 52…..12/12…..192.0…..(Trend weight 190.0) Of course I am horrified. Dinner was out at a local restaurant. I hate half and brought half home and shared a dessert that I absolutely did not need. Later I ate the other half of my dinner in bed for comfort, not for hunger. Still spiraling here, but today will likely be a good day due to the shock factor of my weigh-in.

    Day 53…..12/13…..192.2…..(Trend weight 190.2) Small fluctuation with no TMI. Travel today for building supplies and product returns won’t help. I’ll not be home until later tonight after dark.

    Day 54…..12/14…..191.6…..(Trend weight 190.4) Travel yesterday found me very dizzy and lethargic from the Covid booster the day before. I hated being stuck out-of-town feeling so tired and dragging. Straight to bed when I got home and feeling back to normal today. The extra rest helped. Water is important too as many of those symptoms are due to dehydration. I got some building supplies and a little Christmas shopping for the grands in. Today is hair appointment, wrapping and finishing up decorating details. I hope to keep up this nice energy. My handyman will be over to my brother’s for the next few days tightening up things, spackling nail holes etc and prepping for paint for the new renter. Things are moving nicely except I’m really behind on the shopping. It’s hard to move on as if nothing happened after my brother’s death, but life does go on and I’m giving it my best.

    Day 55…..12/15…..190.4…..(Trend weight 190.4) A 1.2 lb drop which reflects some good meal choices (Oh, if I could just stick to better snack choices during Christmas!). Not much movement. Not much water. 2.5 hours of sleep last night. I am working my way BACK into the 180’s which was a spot I wasn’t real happy with and now one that I long for. Right now I’m on the Road to Redemption. I’ve planned my meals for the day.

    Day 56…..12/16…..189.2…..(Trend weight 190.3) So I woke up today feeling like I’d been run over by a Mac Truck. My first instinctive thought was not the lack of sleep again, but my food. I didn’t choose too badly for meals but I did have some Chocolate Cream Pie. Honestly, I felt like me food was poisonous to me. Killing me. Not energizing or sustaining me. I know that I AM doing better, but I also know that I CAN DO EVEN BETTER THAN THIS. I know how. When will I fully commit again? I haven’t been logging, I’ve been mentally planning meals with some success but not planning for snacks or hunger. No exercise whatsoever. Hardly any water. It’s been a whirlwind since my brother got sick. Christmas is extra. Please God, help me get through December and all my commitments without too much damage.

    Day 57…..12/17…..189.6…..(Trend weight 190.2) Same old story. Good meals, bad snacks. I’ve got to keep the junk out of the house but it’s hard with others here. And hard during the holidays. I MUST get into the right frame of mind. But don’t worry, my friends, sometimes I do give in, but I never give up! I’m babysitting my grandson today and enjoying his company but my poor decorations don’t appreciate him very much right now!

    Day 58…..12/18…..191.2…..(Trend weight 190.3) Well, for Crying out Loud! I had a much better day yesterday with my meals. Snacks improved too. Even a little more movement was likely due to chasing a young grandson, However, no TMI, up early to go shopping today (no sleep) and very little water. It’s more than just the food, clearly, that affects our weight and fluctuations, just as @dawnbgethealthy and @Lilylady3k has so recently shared. Wow! Travel today will be much further than usual to Christmas shop with my daughter who is living with me right now. I love that we can spend the day together. However, the scale will not like me any better tomorrow. Out of town restaurants are such a treat for us!

    Day 59…..12/19…..191.0…..(Trend weight 190.4) A small drop on the scale after the way I ate yesterday during my travels and city Christmas shopping? I’m sure that lunch and dinner from yesterday (over-abundance) will rear it’s ugly head on the scale in the coming days. It was nice to (mainly) finish my shopping and spend time in the city with my daughter!

    Day 60…..12/20…..191.2…..(Trend weight 190.5) I attended a viewing and full memorial service yesterday for a friend I’ve known for 20 years. She was 55. She died suddenly after an asthma attack. She used her inhaler, dropped to the ground and never recovered. Such a shock! It was difficult seeing the extreme grief of her children and her husband. This will be a hard one to get over. I say goodbye and good riddance to 2021!

    Day 61…..12/21…..191.4…..(Trend weight 190.5) I had a full-on binge yesterday of BBQ chips and donuts that I bought at the store when I went to get water. It was so bad that I skipped dinner just to off-set the calories. I feel like death warmed over today. I have none of the energy that good foods would have given me. This is just another example of my food killing me, like a poison because of my relationship with it. I’ve got to do better! I know this was emotional eating. Too many death's this month. But it solves nothing!

    If I don't have 500 calories in the Green on the tracker (on average) I don't lose weight.

    Day 59: Sun, 12/19: 135.6 - Groan, up 2 pounds since Friday. I always say that it takes 2-3 days for things to register in either direction. I have another food party starting at 9pm tonight - a work party. Lol, I am normally in my jammies by 7. Skating today at an arena, and shoveling snow, so hoping to pre-emptively mitigate tonight's party.
    Day 60: Mon, 12/20: 135.8 - Extremely active day, then a late night work party/dinner. Might have prevented a large gain.
    Day 61: Tues, 12/21: 136.6 - Very low on calories yesterday. Expecting a drop tomorrow.
    Day 62: Wed, 12/22: 136.0 - Trying to get to a buffer zone, but half-heartedly since I plan on indulging in everything over the holidays. I would at least like to get myself down to last Christmas's weight of 135.8 and call all of the hard work for a full year a bust and almost not worth the effort.

    Day 54…..12/14…..191.6…..(Trend weight 190.4) Travel yesterday found me very dizzy and lethargic from the Covid booster the day before. I hated being stuck out-of-town feeling so tired and dragging. Straight to bed when I got home and feeling back to normal today. The extra rest helped. Water is important too as many of those symptoms are due to dehydration. I got some building supplies and a little Christmas shopping for the grands in. Today is hair appointment, wrapping and finishing up decorating details. I hope to keep up this nice energy. My handyman will be over to my brother’s for the next few days tightening up things, spackling nail holes etc and prepping for paint for the new renter. Things are moving nicely except I’m really behind on the shopping. It’s hard to move on as if nothing happened after my brother’s death, but life does go on and I’m giving it my best.

    Day 55…..12/15…..190.4…..(Trend weight 190.4) A 1.2 lb drop which reflects some good meal choices (Oh, if I could just stick to better snack choices during Christmas!). Not much movement. Not much water. 2.5 hours of sleep last night. I am working my way BACK into the 180’s which was a spot I wasn’t real happy with and now one that I long for. Right now I’m on the Road to Redemption. I’ve planned my meals for the day.

    Day 56…..12/16…..189.2…..(Trend weight 190.3) So I woke up today feeling like I’d been run over by a Mac Truck. My first instinctive thought was not the lack of sleep again, but my food. I didn’t choose too badly for meals but I did have some Chocolate Cream Pie. Honestly, I felt like me food was poisonous to me. Killing me. Not energizing or sustaining me. I know that I AM doing better, but I also know that I CAN DO EVEN BETTER THAN THIS. I know how. When will I fully commit again? I haven’t been logging, I’ve been mentally planning meals with some success but not planning for snacks or hunger. No exercise whatsoever. Hardly any water. It’s been a whirlwind since my brother got sick. Christmas is extra. Please God, help me get through December and all my commitments without too much damage.

    Day 57…..12/17…..189.6…..(Trend weight 190.2) Same old story. Good meals, bad snacks. I’ve got to keep the junk out of the house but it’s hard with others here. And hard during the holidays. I MUST get into the right frame of mind. But don’t worry, my friends, sometimes I do give in, but I never give up! I’m babysitting my grandson today and enjoying his company but my poor decorations don’t appreciate him very much right now!

    Day 58…..12/18…..191.2…..(Trend weight 190.3) Well, for Crying out Loud! I had a much better day yesterday with my meals. Snacks improved too. Even a little more movement was likely due to chasing a young grandson, However, no TMI, up early to go shopping today (no sleep) and very little water. It’s more than just the food, clearly, that affects our weight and fluctuations, just as @dawnbgethealthy and @Lilylady3k has so recently shared. Wow! Travel today will be much further than usual to Christmas shop with my daughter who is living with me right now. I love that we can spend the day together. However, the scale will not like me any better tomorrow. Out of town restaurants are such a treat for us!

    Day 59…..12/19…..191.0…..(Trend weight 190.4) A small drop on the scale after the way I ate yesterday during my travels and city Christmas shopping? I’m sure that lunch and dinner from yesterday (over-abundance) will rear it’s ugly head on the scale in the coming days. It was nice to (mainly) finish my shopping and spend time in the city with my daughter!

    Day 60…..12/20…..191.2…..(Trend weight 190.5) I attended a viewing and full memorial service yesterday for a friend I’ve known for 20 years. She was 55. She died suddenly after an asthma attack. She used her inhaler, dropped to the ground and never recovered. Such a shock! It was difficult seeing the extreme grief of her children and her husband. This will be a hard one to get over. I say goodbye and good riddance to 2021!

    Day 61…..12/21…..191.4…..(Trend weight 190.5) I had a full-on binge yesterday of BBQ chips and donuts that I bought at the store when I went to get water. It was so bad that I skipped dinner just to off-set the calories. I feel like death warmed over today. I have none of the energy that good foods would have given me. This is just another example of my food killing me, like a poison because of my relationship with it. I’ve got to do better! I know this was emotional eating. Too many death's this month. But it solves nothing!

    Day 62…..12/22…..192.2…..(Trend weight 190.7) Last December 22, 2020 I weighed 204.8 so I guess there has been more progress than I thought. I was hoping to lose approx 5 pounds per month and be much leaner at this point, but as I end 2021 I will focus on being grateful for any progress I’ve made. Inside me, I’ve got what it takes. I just have to get organized and serious. I admit, having my DD and DGS move in has thrown a wrench into things. Handymen too. Many new projects to get started this upcoming year. But I’ve got to hold onto my resolve and make it a lifestyle, not a project I never quite get 100% into. From now until the first of the year I will be working on the psychological part. Planning for success!
