Measurements

Hello. I am 5'8" and weight 242 pounds. I am a rectangle chape, meaning no curves. My goal weight is 164. More than that, I want a much smaller waist. I would like measurements from those of you around this size. Arms, thighs, waist, chest, hips, etc. Anyone help?

I’m not around your size, so am not putting my measurements in. I’m pretty sure there are other discussion topics with measurements. I’m also pretty sure someone else will post them in reply to your request.
I’m curious about what approach you are taking to reach your goals. 80 pounds is a big goal. Are you breaking it down into smaller mini goals?

Saying this with love, having been there.
Everyone is going to be different. We lose weight in different places, wear different sizes at same height and weight. I have a 34” waist after substantial loss (thank you, extra skin) yet consistently wear 25” jeans comfortably.
Pre-comparing yourself won’t really accomplish much and might cause frustration. “Comparison is the thief of joy”.
I’m 5’7” and started at over 222. 180 was my initial goal. I thought 160 would be fabulous but ridiculously unobtainable. The mountain just seemed too tall, and I was perfectly happy getting to the tree line. I’m currently sitting at 133. Your intentional goals are going to keep moving. Your unexpected successes will sweep you along.
Focus on having a plan, weighing accurately and logging honestly.
Don’t obsess over where you feel like you should be.
As we say in yoga, focus on the present.8 -
Body shape comes down more to genetics than anything. If you naturally don't have a very defined waist now, you probably still won't when you get to goal, and there's not much you can do about that. You can create the appearance of a narrower, more-defined waist through strategic application of shapewear, though, if you wanted to strap yourself into some spanx every day (and I suppose no one could really stop you if you did). "Waist training" isn't a thing, in the sense of "training" your waist to look like that when you aren't wearing the trainer, the same way bras don't "train" your breasts to look like that when you aren't wearing them.0
