    I have to admit, I smiled a little - in a friendly-granny way - at "37 and aging". (I'm 66, female, with no extra commentary offered on my chronological prospects or direction 😉).

    I empathize, though, on the injury recovery issues . . . and a spinal injury can be a pretty big deal.

    For me, planning for recovery is an important dimension of staying active, especially after injuries or any other break in being active. I'm not just talking rest days, but also:
    * re-building gradually/sensibly,
    * managing workout duration/frequency/timing to vary which body systems get useful stress,
    * using self-care strategies (like stretching, yoga, foam-rolling, well-timed ice or heat when needed, etc.),
    * consulting professionals when viable (I have an osteopath, and when we weren't in a pandemic used a sports-trained massage therapist besides),
    * getting good quality/quantity sleep,
    * getting well rounded nutrition,
    * . . . and more.

    What's your plan or approach for improving your fitness, from here?

    If you're a lifter, I'm thinking the folks over in the "Weight Gain and Bodybuilding" part of the MFP Community might be helpful (I know you're planning to lose weight, but that's where a lot of the serious strength trainers hang out, even when cutting). The "Fitness and Exercise" topic has some good stuff, too.

    No matter what the plan, wishing you much success!
