Huel and BeachBody Insanity

I need to get fit in 6 weeks, and I've been a slob for the last few months 😆 so I've started the BeachBody program for the cardio, and use their meal plan and calorie count suggestion as a guideline. They suggest 5 meals a day to supercharge the metabolism. So I've bulk- cooked a vegetable and meat soup which I have once a day, and I have Huel shakes for the rest of the allowance.
Personally I love the taste and texture of Huel, and currently use their higher protein version, feeling full and satisfied every day.
Anyone wants join join me on the journey? 🙂 Or just add friend for fun!

Be extremely skeptical of anything that claims to "supercharge the metabolism."
Eating 5x per day doesn't do that.
It's a marketing gimmick.
They are lying to you to get your $$$.12 -
I agree with the above, apart from the huel which is a good meal replacement1

I've been skipping breakfasts for a couple of years now, mostly because I wasn't hungry in the mornings, cso eating a first meal at 9am is novel! Saying that, since starting insanity I seem to get hungry sooner, so so far it's working for me...
Do you know of a proven way that keeps metabolism working optimally?0 -
I bought one of each of all their different meals haha, macaroni &cheese, and Thai green curry (quite spicy), and korma are all very nice, great flavours, and the texture was better than I expected!1 -

That's not a sign of "supercharged metabolism", it's a sign that when you do more stuff, your body wants more energy to fuel that.Do you know of a proven way that keeps metabolism working optimally?
Well-rounded good nutrition at appropriate calories; sensibly-scheduled regular strength and cardio exercise that's manageably challenging for your current fitness level and progresses as fitness improves; enough good-quality sleep; good stress management practices; moderate or no alcohol; an overall balanced life (work, family, social, intellectual, creative, etc.) . . . .
It's that boring and surprisingly difficult stuff that "optimizes metabolism" - a.k.a. robust, energetic good health. If someone suggests "hacks", they're feeding you a line, possibly for their own profit.
Don't believe that "body confusion" thing, either. BB and their ilk like that concept: It sells more programs. 🙄9 -
In the absence of a disease state, your metabolism is remarkably stable from 20 to 60 years old.

Anyone who tries to tell you they can "jump start" your metabolism by doing ABC or that doing XYZ will "damage" your metabolism is a liar. Your metabolism isn't a THING. It's not a car - you can't dent, ding, or wreck it.
Fuel your body adequately with nutritious foods; there is no such thing as a "bad" food or a "good" food outright. Sure some foods may be more beneficial to you from a health standpoint - 2000 calories worth of skittles or lard isn't going to treat your body the same way as 2000 calories of lean meats, dairy, fruits, veggies, & whole grains (or whatever - adjust according to your personal preferences/tolerances). But 2000 calories is 2000 calories, full stop. No specific food burns fat and no specific food makes you gain fat.10 -
Thank you all, I've learned new things from you today2

I had a “supercharged metabolism” for many years owing to a medical condition. It was deeply deeply unpleasant and any side effects of needing more calories were outweighed by the other symptoms. Your metabolism works just fine, feed your body good veg, fruit and protein and it will be happy. You can increase your daily calorie burn (which is what most people think of re increased metabolism) by increasing your movement during the day (think fidgeting) and by building muscle. Trust me - those are much nicer methods!5
