"Sometimes all you need for exceptional results is average effort repeated for an above-average amount of time."
said James Clear ... and I agree.

Then this .. something to think through; also from James.
    "Make your habits fun.

This doesn't mean each habit will be the most fun thing in your life, but nearly any habit can be made more fun than it is currently. Ask yourself, "What would it look like if this was fun? What would it look like if meditation or exercise or writing—or whatever—was fun?

Find the most enjoyable version of each habit you do."

Tips on How to Build a New Habit
Step 1 ... Start with an incredibly small habit. Make it so easy you can't say 'no'.
Step 2 ... Increase your habit in very small ways. Success is a few simple disciplines practiced every day.
Step 3 ... As you build up, break habits into chunks. Each habit needs to stay reasonable.
Step 4 ... When you slip, get back on track quickly. Missing your habit ONCE, no matter when, has no measurable impact long term.

"The person who focuses on one task and sees it through to completion—even if they work in a somewhat slow or outdated manner—beats the endless optimizer who jumps from tool to tool and always hopes a new piece of technology will help them finish what they start." ... James Clear

Another way of saying "a stitch in time saves nine"
or ... "slow and steady wins the race"
and ... that children's storybook tale about the "Tortoise and the Hare".

All good reminders to stick to it instead of trying something new and different all the time even though it is also true that 'you cannot expect new results from the same old actions'.

James Clear's message speaks volumes once again:
"Some things work and some things don't. There is almost always another way to get where you want to go. Don't keep trying to open a locked door."

"When nothing is working, explore and make a lot of small bets.
After something starts working, double down on what works best.
When that stops working, explore and make a lot of small bets again."

Get off the rail ... the rail of the fence ...
Meaning: stop waffling and make a decision, then stick with it.
