Stretching causing soreness?

Have any of you specifically had the issue of overstretching and as a result of the stretching alone (no exercise) felt sore for a couple of days after? (The stiffness is relieved each day by additional stretching.)
I just can't figure out why else my legs would suddenly be sore when I haven't done much with them recently-not just a little sore, more like I've run-twenty-miles sore.

Maybe you're pushing the stretches a little too hard? It should be just pushing to the point of feeling the stretch, not to the point of actual discomfort. Holding for a large amount of time, doing manyMany reps, shouldn't generally be necessary in order to see benefits.0
