Lost most the weight that I wanted to, now to build muscle! Tips for trying to gain weight from muscle without adding too much extra weight from fat?

Small calorie surplus and a quality hypertrophy program; however, gaining fat while bulking is inevitable which is why people do bulking and cutting cycles. That said, "building muscle" is pretty broad. I've put on muscle eating around maintenance and just re-comping, but it's not slabs of muscle like a bodybuilder and it's much slower, but I also don't have to do bulking and cutting cycles and have no desire to look remotely like a bodybuilder.1

Consider this, as one option:

Lots of good information in that thread, if you want to add muscle, lose a little fat, without gaining weight. Also some progress pictures from other MFP-ers doing it.1
