    Successes/struggles of the week: My weight was back up again this past week. I had a huge amount of water retention - usually my scale shows about 53%, but it was at 59% for a couple of days. Adding in a day of sushi, and my weight remained high from the water retention except for the past couple of days when it finally dropped back down again.

    I am struggling with keeping my calories at maintenance amount. Each day I want to eat too much. I am enjoying having about 300 extra calories each day, but it is starting to cause weight gain. I am concerned I will gain my weight back if I can’t get my eating back in control. Any tips to starting motivated to eat less?

    @dawnwells825 Dawn, I feel it is the hardest at the beginning and gets easier as time goes by. Some things that have helped me: 1. Remember why I did this and rejoice that I did this. 2. Plan meals ahead of time and stick to them. 3. Weight myself every day. Lots of folks will disagree with this but it keeps my focus. 4. Log every day (another keep the focus trick). 5. Have a buddy to share with ups and downs. 6. Ask myself why I want to eat something - hunger, stress, boredom. Mindless eating has been a problem for me. And most important, keep trying. You'll find your way.

    Successes/struggles of the week: This week was good in terms of weigh-ins as I finally was back down again into the mid-112 range for a couple of days. Of course, I then ate out and enjoyed high-calorie and high carb meals two days and my weight went up 4 pounds afterwards. For workouts, I managed to get in almost 18k steps one day, which was great, though just got in my steps the rest of the time.

    I had two weeks away on holiday, flew back on Tuesday. I’m happy that I’m only just over my maintenance range. We were self-catering but ate out every evening, had desserts occasionally, but restrained alcohol, pastries and ice creams. We were fairly active – cycling, swimming – and enjoyed the time away.

    Current goal weight: 164.1 BMI: 24.9

    Successes: I have not given up. I stopped the upward trend.
    Increased exercise with more hill climbs
    Set up a sleep schedule.

    Struggles: On Oct 16, I decided I had to “get serious” as I was just maintaining & still 5-10 pounds heavier than I want to be.

    Successes: So, I did two things:
    1) I decided I would eat four 400-calorie “meals” per day
    2) I decided, after almost 7 years of “fighting it,” to pre-log my food for the following day. I am committed to being healthy.
