Hike 73/150
One of my absolute favourite hikes is Joffre Lakes, an hour northeast of Whistler BC. It's not a very long hike, only 8KM but the views are incredible. It takes 3 hours to drive there from my house and it's 100% worth it. Hiking up to the glaciers and then sitting on the edge of the lake is such a great reminder of the life I want to live and what I'm working towards. Down 45 pounds now, I'm getting ready to change my goal of losing 50 pounds to 70 but first I want to celebrate hitting 50. I'm no longer squeamish about people taking full body pictures of me and know that in 10 years I'll look back and be glad I had them.
Hoping to do a bigger hike for the half way mark, have to see if I can work my business schedule to co-operate.
Thanks everyone who is following along and I'm loving your added photos!!

I like what you're doing. First, your doing something truly interesting and becoming a more interesting person .. not just a smaller person. You've taken "I'm on a diet". to "I'm on an adventure." Super cool.
I also like that you're doing it on your own. So many of us depend on having company to travel ..move.. or even go to a movie.6 -
Today, Saturday June 3rd is National Trails Day! Hope some of you went out and hit up a few trails.3

Half way to goal! Two completely different hikes this week, number 74 was to Joffre Lakes, one of my favourites. A series of three glacier lakes, a good climb to the last one and very satisfying. I like to hit this one early in the season, as soon as the ice is melting and before it's too crowded. Starting at 7AM meant we had the trail mostly to ourselves going up.
Number 75 kicked my *kitten*! 79 Grind has been on my bucket list for awhile and I decided it needed to be my midway celebrate how far I've come hike. I'm expecting my knees to forgive me any day now. Only 7K up and down it's also the equivalent of over 300 flights of stairs. There were two sections coming down that the dirt was so dry and it was so steep I decided sliding on my butt was the safest way to go. No regrets. It was a beautiful hike, there's nothing bad I could say about it, again, my knees may not agree. The trails were well laid out, lots of markers to help you find your way, not crowded, and the view was breathtaking.
In the 75 hikes I've also lost 49 pounds, one pound away from my first goal. I'm going to move the needed to 70 for the year. Its going to be aggressive but I don't want to become complacent and lose focus on what I want to accomplish.
Thanks everyone for sharing your hikes, photos and support. It's really appreciated!8 -

It's been a busy month! This is one of my peak seasons for my business so I knew I'd have less time for hiking but I still got out for as many as I could. When I realized I could shut down for a week this week I grabbed it and spent the week doing several hikes. I started with Garibaldi, a 20KM hike to the glacier lake and one I absolutely love to do. Last year it took me 7:15 to complete, this year it took me 5:50! I worked hard to get down the last 2KM to get in under 6 hours. The next day I headed out for a palette cleanser just to stretch my legs. There was also a hike with my husband to another lake, then a couple more local hikes. All totaled I hiked 45KM in 5 days and reached hike 89.
Weight wise I've been sitting on a plateau for a month and haven't lose anything since June 2. I'm not upset, my body is learning how to function at the lower weight and I dropped the first 50 pounds quickly. I've upped my protein and going to get back to strength training between hikes to help push those fat cells off the edge and get off the plateau. Trying to decide on hike 100, not sure if I want to make it a new to me one or repeat one of the harder favourites.

So thrilled to have found this thread, Tami your journey is inspiring! I love hiking but have to be organized to get out there as I live in NYC and don’t have car. A few pics from a Connecticut hike last weekend. I really love hiking in this part of the world, just have to check carefully for ticks afterwards!

I feel like I've been MIA! So much going on the last several weeks but finally have a few minutes to update.
105 hikes completed! It was a really busy summer for my business (not complaining) and super excited that my line of cookies was picked up by a chain so lots of emotions going back and forth as they get ready for the official launch next week. Excited tops the list but of course, nervous, scared, back to excited, overthinking and a few more rounds of excitement. For me the best thing to do is head to the trails and clear my mind. I've started running quite a bit more and found a trail that's 16KM long and great for trail runs. Small rolling hills, nice and quiet. Great place to de-stress. Of course I've done lots of ones that weren't quite so calm.
I dragged my husband out for a night hike along the river and lake just up from our house, it was a beautiful night and pitch black by the time we walked home. He wasn't a fan, I loved it.
Back up Cypress Mountain to a new to me spot, it was so much fun and really challenging. Pretty much all climbing roots and hills. I don't know how but I swear it was uphill both ways. I'm pretty sure gremlins came and changed the trail while we relaxed at the top.
My weight has been bouncing between 50 - 54 pounds down, with such a busy non-hiking summer I'm not worried that it held steady, now that the fall is here I'll have more time for hiking and running and get the last 20 pounds of my 2023 goal lost.
Hope you all have had a great summer! Thanks for sharing all your adventures, I love seeing photos from all over the world.

@TamiVsTheTrail you might have to start giving trail & hiking lessons to people nearby... plus letting some us know which stores may have the cookies that fuel the Tami! Some of your pics are giving me ideas and are making me a tiny bit jelly! AWESOME!1

Thanks for all the great photos! I too am a hiker and we are now hitting the prime hiking season (goodbye heat and humidity) here in Georgia. Did my first fall hike this past weekend and will be headed out again soon! Happy Hiking everybody!1

I so enjoyed looking over this thread! I, too, am a hiker - I enjoy having hikes as part of our big vacations. So many places to see. Most often are my local NC mountain hikes.

Bring on the fall!
Summer hikes are beautiful but I love the fall colours, the misty, foggy mornings, the cooler weather and the mushroom scavenger hunts. I've got a handle on my business again, so excited how well the cookies are doing in retail and it's giving me more downtime now. Which of course means more hikes and focusing on my health goals. I head steady at 50 pound weight loss during the madness and adding more strength training to my hiking to get the weight to start dropping again. Well, that and it's Thanksgiving and there will be pie. Ok, there will be a pile of whip cream with a touch of pie under it.
I've done a few new to me hikes and a few of my favourites. The fall colours have been so beautiful. Tomorrow it's supposed to start raining and I'm looking forward to some gloomy, foggy morning hikes this week. The deer popping out in front of me on one hike was the biggest one I've ever come in front of. She was beautiful! We both just stood starting at each other, glad she hung around long enough to get her picture!
I'm going strong on my goal and have stayed ahead of target each month.
118/150 completed
50/50 pounds to lose
