Back again

I’ve had the MFP app for awhile and have used it intermittently then let it go by the wayside. I become motivated again to lose the weight I need to lose and thought reaching out to the MFP community would be a good way to stay motivated. I’m 66 yrs old and I have MS which makes exercising a challenge. I’ve lost 5lbs since I restarted my commitment to losing the 50lbs I need to lose. I’m hoping to connect with some members who also need support on a similar journey.

I was on this app years ago but have decided to get back to my "healthier living journey", I am 51 years old and hoping to lose approximately 35 pounds or so. I had bowel reduction surgery in May and have chronic gastritis so I had to wait for the right time for me to start doing what I need to do to get fit again. I wish you all the best in your journey to losing weight.

Hi jerussia. GI issues make life difficult especially for someone who wants to lose weight. Prior to COIVD I was diagnosed with SIBO and IBS with diarrhea. My gastroenterologist had me following the FODMAP diet. I lost 30 lbs and felt great. I was also doing Pilates. Then I broke my wrist and things started to go down hill. It was an eight week recovery period during which I was sedentary. My weight started to creep back up a bit. Then COVID hit and I was house bound for two years. I regained all the weight. So now I finally decided it’s time to do something about it.

I started losing weight in August. I'm hoping to lose 100lbs. My best motivation has been when my car broke down and I started riding an electric bicycle to work. It's not too difficult when the electric assist, but it gets me outside and moving. I absolutely love seeing the sun rise with the birds tweeting on the bike trail every morning. Biking led to the gym, protein shake dieting to plant based eating. I'm down 44lbs, 56lbs to go and freeling great! Margaret Cho used to have this joke line " nothing tastes better than being thin does", and I always used to laugh, but in a way it's true. I love the way my body feels when it's working more than I like the taste of cake. Cake is delicious, but my body not hurting, my panting decreasing, and feeling stronger is invaluable. As a chronic yoyo-er, I hope I keep the motivation up.
