First of all, as a male you are not to go below 1500 cal a day (before exercise) and you add on your exercise calories. Going below this puts you at risk. You are on a VLCD. You also don't have much to lose, and should go very slowly.
I advise you to rethink this if you want to preserve your health.8 -
No, you definitely shouldn't go any lower, you're already starving yourself as it is.
I'm a woman, 1m66, and I lost weight eating more than you, 1700 calories and over!
First of all: weight loss is not linear, you won't lose weight every day or week necessarily, because our body weight is also influenced by fluctuations of water weight and food waste in our system. So you need to change your attitude towards weight loss and be more patient: look at the weight trend over a month or more.
Secondly, you are aiming for very aggressive weight loss eating that little: you will lose muscle mass, which isn't what you want to lose (it's a lot harder to build back up than it is to lose it). Not to mention other possible negative effects on your health by starving yourself. 1200 calories is only appropriate for petite/older/sedentary women. Definitely not for a 80+kg man.
PS aide from a increase in calories in general, I would definitely increase fat intake if you're only consuming 20gr, it's a necessary nutrient for hormone and brain health.4 -
Go for high fat diet. Eat less refined grains.0

You lost 1/2 pound a day in 15 days. That's VERY unhealthy for someone your size. Some of that was likely water weight from just starting out, but based on your calorie intake probably not far off.
Many of us on here learned the hard way: super aggressive weight loss will cause a lot of problems, some of them life threatening or causing irreversible damage. Best case scenario- you'll gain it all back and more.
Go slow. Fuel your body for living and working. I know it's hard to be patient, but you're not doing yourself any favors losing quickly.5 -
Generally speaking, at the beginning of a new diet a big deficit will shed maybe 2 lbs of real mass like fat, muscle or both in a week and the rest is water weight. Basically half of your loss is water, which can and will come back and that could be your stall, but again you haven't said how long it's been since you've stopped losing. If you continue to stall then it's just miscalculating your calories in, out or both.0

I'm female, older, and shorter and lose weight just fine on 1500 calories PLUS exercise calories.
I use the Happy Scale trending app (iphone.) Sometimes I don't lose weight each week, but over 6 months last year I lost 40 pounds.4 -
15 days? A lot of that initial loss was water...that isn't a normal rate of loss. Losing weight is slow. You're also vastly undereating for a male. A sedentary male shouldn't consume fewer than 1500 calories per day on a regular basis. I'd imagine your cortisol levels are through the roof as you're putting your body through a ton of stress. You aren't grossly overweight or morbidly obese...you can't do what you're doing and remain healthy.7

This.
And guess what? Higher cortisol levels can trigger more water retention, which masks fat loss on the scale.
Slow the bus down: Your health matters. You're risking it. Big time.
You should read this:

Are bad things for sure going to happen? No. But you're ramping up the risks to above the red-line zone. Don't do it. It's not helpful. It's not necessary. And it can be counterproductive to weight loss, via water retention and fatigue, on top of the health risks.
Even as a non-large li'l ol' lady, 5'5", at age 60, while severely hypothyroid even, I lost weight pretty fast on 1400-1600 calories plus eating all exercise calories. Now, I'm mysteriously good li'l ol' calorie burner . . . but you're starting around the same weight I did (83kg for me), yet you're 11cm taller, 10 years younger, and 100% more male. You're seriously, seriously under-eating.
Losing any meaningful amount of weight healthfully is not a quick, extreme project with an end date, after which things go back to normal. That's how yo-yos happen. Think in terms of what sustainable new habits will take you to a healthy weight gradually, then keep you there long term, ideally permanently. That's a better goal.
Good luck.

I'm going with hasn't a clue how much they're actually eating or burning before chalking it up to catastrophic metabolic meltdown. Cheers.3

Great! Just to clarify, that is 1500 calories BEFORE exercise
Unlike other sites which use TDEE calculators, MFP uses the NEAT method (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis), and as such this system is designed for exercise calories to be eaten back. However, many consider the burns given by MFP to be inflated for them and only eat a percentage, such as 50%, back. Others are able to lose weight while eating 100% of their exercise calories.

1000 calories a day is insane and very dangerous. Be careful. Some great advice posted above. I'm 6"5 259 and have lost 129 pounds this past year. I still consume 2300 calories a day because I run 5km a day 5-6 days a week with strength training after running. I'm actually eating MORE since I started back running 2 months ago and I'm still consistently losing.
