Successes/struggles of the week: Successes are that I have been consistent with my exercise this week getting all my Apple Watch rings closed every day. Struggles are that I’m still eating at the very top of my calorie count, including eating back exercise calories. Some days it’s not very balanced in terms of macros (i.e. way over in carbs and fats).4 -

Struggle of the week: Too much fun in the kitchen this week. Delicious, but... Oops. Still in my absolute maintenance range, but slipping up out of the ideal range.2 -

Nov1Now over my Normal BMI 9 pounds to lose to get back into it.
Since Nov 19th Back under Normal BMI!! so basically I was overweight for 3 months of 50 months. That’s a success for me.
Maintenance weight range: 150-159.9 “In the 150’s” This gives me about 5 lbs before I hit Overweight BMI.

Successes & Struggles1. Eating new & healthier foods: more oatmeal, 1T flaxseed going to 2T soon, added a low sodium lentil soup, quinoa/chickpea salad, veggies w/hummus, successfully whacked down Sat fat.Maddie 💕

3. Added non-walking/hiking exercise such as stretches, band work, lt weights each day
4. Back in normal BMI
5. Now to get back “in the 150’s” this month or sometime in January.t

Struggles
New awareness of my health issues has made me a bit stressed. Decided to face it with the help of a therapist. First time in a long, long time, but I keep
telling myself “it’s okay to ask for help when you need it”

I'm away on holiday, no scales. I fear I will gain a couple of kg this time. We're at an all-inclusive hotel, and I'm giving in to temptation too much. On the positive side, I'm not snacking between meals and I'm not drinking calories. Water and coffee (black) are almost the only beverages passing my lips. I'm swimming and walking every day.3

Success of the week: After a long period of being an "inactive" member of my gym, I went back and paid full dues and swam a couple days. Weight is up a fair bit from the end of November, but still in maintenance, and just bouncing up and down like it's supposed to.
Struggle of the week: Darkness. We won't even see the DARKEST day for another ten days, but we only have four minutes and one second more daylight than that; today we get 8:53:11. I will probably write about this again next week. But here's the catch; this year has actually been better than any I've experienced in a long time. It might be as simple as being able to go outside for a walk any time I want. It might just be reduced stress in other areas of my life. I have another theory, too. Whatever the reason, it's actually a success that tempers the struggle!

Will be getting back on track the next couple of weeks, cooking more and eating healthier to try to get rid of some of this extra weight.3 -

Success/Failure: My husband ended up in the hospital due to RSV complicated by COPD. The success would be that he is home now. The failure would be that I didn't track or exercise for two weeks. Though not my fault. The success would be that I didn't gain. My MO for stress for most of my life was eating. This time I had to make sure I ate. People do change! I am back exercising and tracking today.5 -

I’m still More tired as I have been since March, but I’m Pushing the hikes
I have unexplained center of chest discomfort - not heart/lung/or GI. It stresses me, but I’m learning to live with it.

Success of the week: Made it almost to Solstice. Just three more days until the darkest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Where I live, the daylight difference from now to then is a mere twenty seconds. There's still a long winter ahead, but brighter times will return before the next update here!
Struggle of the week: I bounced back up out of my maintenance range and pretty much back to where I was before I got sick. I'm still a fair bit below my average weight from October though, so not all is lost.

Successes: I weighed in at 50.8 kg on Saturday morning. Holiday weight gain dropping off.
Struggles: Spent a lot of time sitting over the weekend – weight up this morning. Saturday was a theatre visit with my daughter - 2 hour drive from my house to hers, quick lunch, drive to pick up the kids from their dad's, drive to the theatre, sit in the theatre for over 2 hours, drive to friends house for quick visit (mulled wine and mince pie), drive to restaurant for dinner, drive back to daughters’ - less than 6,000 steps that day.
Sunday I drove home - I left my daughter’s at 10 am to drive home, which should have taken less than 2 hours. But 80 minutes later I’m at a standstill on the motorway. It then took over 2 hours to cover the next 1.5 miles. Sad, really, it appears there was a “welfare incident” (a jumper on a bridge) and obviously the road was closed. The diversion that was set up didn’t work very well. So, I finally got home just before 2 pm.
I did get some exercise done in the afternoon – two 10-minute routines and some general warm-up and stretching – but my step count was less than 8,000.
PS - the jumper was talked down. Suicide averted. Good news.
Why should I complain about a 2 hour delay when there are people in such distress?

I feel this should be posted in the “weird and wonderful world of scale fluctuations”
I don’t normally suffer from wild swings (I’m well past menopause lol!) but in the run up to Christmas things were going so well.
Returned from holiday on Nov 10th, (weighed in at over 53 kg! on the 11th), dropped steadily – water weight mostly I suppose – to weigh in at 50.8 kg on Saturday 17th. One night away – much driving – and weighed in at 51.3 kg on Monday 19th. Dropped steadily over the next few days – very careful food choices, logging, lots of exercise – weighed in at 50.7 kg on the 25th. Excellent yes?
Boxing Day – 51.2 kg! 0.5 kg – more than 1lb – in one day!
Sigh …..
Well, the family are going home on Wednesday, back to the normal routine tomorrow for a few days.
But, we are away over the New Year for 3 nights in a hotel with lots of food.

Surprisingly, although I indulged as much as I wanted to over Christmas, my weight didn't go up the next day and remained around the same - even dropped down a bit the next day. Success of the week: I am back not only into my absolute maintenance range, but to my absolute. Holy cats. This is even with not being able to exert myself because of an injury. Part is possibly my body using extra fuel to heal, and I'll take credit for the rest of it through being mindful. Perhaps I'm being MORE mindful because I can't do very much, and it would be easy to just graze. I even have two kinds of cheese in the refrigerator that I haven't devoured - just a little bit each day.
Another success for the week is I calculated my average weight from 2022. It was 152.1. That actually is just barely below the top of my Absolute Maintenance Range, but still in there. It's also 1.3 pounds lower than 2021. SUCCESS!!!!
Struggle of the week: I had a very serious physical trauma injury. I'm very fortunate it wasn't any worse. I will recover completely, but not for another six or eight weeks at least. Probably more. I can't do any exertion for at least another five weeks. But I'll get through it and keep sticking to it.
