Staying on track while injured

I have battled with weight loss most my life….thankfully I enjoy many types of exercise & for the past 10 years have kept my weight within 10 lbs of my goal weight (I’m 5’5”…140-155lbs range for 10 years….was 225 at my heaviest asa 20 year old)….but I recently injured my baby toes (yes both left & right 2 separate incidents…?how!?)…. Since then not only have I been spiralling down as have pretty limited activity & it’s dark & cold out But have been eating like crazy & now up to 158!…. I could use some support to get back on track atleast stop binge eating until my feet heal

Congrats on maintaining your healthy weight for so long, I would focus on your diet while unable to exercise like your used to.. you can definitely maintain and even lose weight with diet alone, exercise is important for long term health, but while your injured, healing is more important. Best wishes to you during this dark cold season…

Change of routine is the biggest trigger for me. An injury forces one, for sure. It also gives an opportunity to try something new.

When I had a knee injury, I went back to swimming after many years out of the pool. It was great and I haven't stopped!

I also did a bunch of core and upper body days. Yep, my core and upper body fared well!

One other exercise that was great was kayaking. I went to a rental place and they would help me in and out of the kayak. (It was on a placid river in a very stable kayak. The chance of capsize was very low. and they had a rescue boat.)

I should say that my worst time of year is the late fall. I resist transitioning to indoor exercise as I also hate going out in the cold! And, everyone is always offering you cookies! And, I eat them! And, it's fun!
