@ashleycarole86 Keep it up!! Getting as close as possible is great, too.

Today was... nngh. Finally got my final makeup ride in (yet again - let's see how long I can go without earning another one of those) with a Zwift workout, and did the Tour of Watopia short route on the bike... as well as the standard route on foot, because I'm apparently a maniac and couldn't resist the siren's call of double experience and my neglected Zwift running side of the game. I am a sweaty ball of exhaustion right now.

@Mari33a Congratulations on finishing the challenge! Way to go!

I've been MIA for quite a while. Went on my bucket-list trip to Galapagos, then promptly got Covid upon my return. I'm just now well enough to be exercising again.

Mileage through my last post: 1544.96

Total Mileage for all of September : 70 miles

    10/2 40 minutes of Peloton; 11.0 miles

YTD: 1625.96/2023.... Under 400 miles left and 3 months to go. Totally doable if I keep at it!

@billbiggers06 So sorry about your Afib. My husband was diagnosed with it about 7 years ago- accidentally discovered during his annual flight physical. He had two ablations and it seems to have fixed the issue with no need for medication or anything anymore. Take care of yourself!

@cszulc Sorry about your crash! Glad you are okay. Hope you get your bike back soon.

@ashleycarole86 You really are catching up! You inspire me!

@SavageMrsMoose Gah, so sorry to hear about that Covid contraction! Bleh. But hey, a trip to the Galapagos is really danged awesome, and I'm sure it was a grand time.

Surprise gravel bike adventure. Boyfriend got off of work and insisted I show him where all the dirt in the neighborhood is lol - him on his mountain bike was much more capable than me on my gravel bike in the supremely rough stuff he managed to locate, but I chugged on through (the bike's more capable than the rider lol - gravel bike could've flown, but after my August crash I am fairly... reluctant to faceplant into the ground once again)

Its been over 90 days since my Mom passed away and I wanted to ride. I loaded my bike but did not ride. I am finishing my trailer and plan to travel to two events still in the midwest before winter. I finished my cycling and camping trailer this week and I rode.

I rode 42 km today at the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail. First real ride since early summer. It felt damn good to get out there amongst the sand hills, hardwood, and pine forests. To reward myself, I stopped at The Bucksnort bar and grill for beers and a great steak dinner.

See photos or me and my rig I use to haul and camp at cycling events.

Got my bike back quick, they swapped out a wheel from a stock bike...otherwise they wouldn't get a replacement from Trek until December! Went back to the crash area and found my water bottle thrown 20 some odd yards from my downfall lol - so we're back in business!

Outside - Did a leisurely 7 mile ride with my wife the other afternoon and a 24.12 mile ride Monday.

Inside - 4 classes since last update, with 3 different instructors all around the same average power- but RPMs varied between 75 and 85 average so nice seeing my versatility is working. 85.6 miles total there. Guy was egging me on (in a competitively-spirited sort of way) last night so I pushed it hard the latter half of class.

Weather is PERFECT out so hoping my schedule allows for more outside rides this October. Because my gym has childcare, it's usually a lot easier to just hit the indoor classes but here's hoping!

    Stats YTD:
    Indoor mileage - 2,291.60
    Outdoor mileage - 552.14
    Total - 2,843.74 (77.2% of 3,685 goal)

Been so busy this weekend I couldn't ride worth beans (even indoors - my day wasn't ending until the lights went off in the workout room, and you don't DARE fire those lights and fans back up because the parrot whose roost cage is in that room will give you a piece of his mind very, very loudly). Bought my new car, had to do a ton of running around in town, aquarium AND pond maintenance, 'winterizing' the lawn, clearing the fenceline to keep ivy from tearing my boards apart, so on and so forth.

FINALLY got a ride in today on Zwift and it was a doozy - had to go as hard as I could, because I needed to finish the stage before custody turn-over happened (and have time to at least jump in the shower and get the grime off), and also had to burn 600+ calories because we had a heavy (but super delicious) lunch of smoked cornish game hens and buttered, pan-fried squash today. Woof. Succeeded on both counts, but my legs are pretty jellied thanks to this effort! Haven't done flat out zone 4 training for a while (and that didn't last long - my power tapered off to zone 3 after 30 minutes, and settled into high zone 2 at the 45 minute mark as my body gave up despite my mind's urgings to go faster).

Finished up the makeup rides today in Zwift. My legs are jelly thanks to also running a 5K. Please send a tub of Diet Coke so I might float in it and sip in my misery. The lactic acid is kicking my patootie.

But hey, finished up run 2 today. Commencing run 3 (even though I have very, very little hope of finishing it).

I started my morning yesterday with a Peloton FTP fitness test- after a 10 minute warm up you go as hard as you can for 20 minutes. I was on track to out-perform my previous test and then at 9:22 into the test, I lost internet connection and lost 3 whole minutes! UGHH! I'm doing a six week training program so I will re-test at the end. Did 30 more minutes easy after the test to at least make some headway on this challenge.

@SavageMrsMoose OMG Ugh!!! It sucks when connection issues bugger an FTP test! I can commiserate massively. Imagine this - the France map in Zwift just came out, you're doing a 40.2 mile route (last one you need on the map to finish it), you're on a ship Zwifting on a crap LifeFitness bike with your cellphone running Zwift.... and your battery dies with exactly 0.2 miles left to go. It's by the grace of the Almighty that my phone didn't go flying off the ship that day.

Today was a swim day (rode to and from the pool), but still got in the daily 10 with a nice Tour of Watopia ride! Gonna go jog a 5K now. And I do mean 'jog'. My legs are still niggly from yesterday.

@wendsg Oh I can only imagine! I tried the bike on the ship in Galapagos and I gave up after 2 miles because is was terrible. But I wasn't trying to finish a challenge! Ugh! I tried the treadmill too and I ran for 30 minutes before I figured out it was reading in KM per hour not MPH. I thought I'd gotten super fit or the tread was just broken!

Did a hard Peloton ride yesterday as part of my 6 week program. My zones from my earlier test are plenty hard enough. I mostly focus on running so I tend to do pretty easy rides. This had 3 intervals with a total of 18 minutes in zone 4. The whole 20 minute test was supposed to average at your zone 4 so it was challenging, but doable.

    10/11 Peloton 16.8

@Mari33a It's not so bad when your ship is an aircraft carrier. No Zwifting out there, though - can only do that while in port so there's cell reception lmfao There's no app that'll hijack the satellite connection to permit cell data usage in the middle of an ocean! Foo.

Forgot to log yesterday's ride, so catching that with today's. More Tour of Watopia short rides because there's not enough hours in the day.

Did an easy Power Zone Endurance class as part of this 6 week challenge. Next weeks classes look Okay, too, but the following week includes a 60 power zone class. Never have done one and a bit afraid, but I'll do my best. I'll be back in Houston at sea level so that should help- if I can fit in with my long weekend trip to Chicago to see my son. Also, this will be 12 weeks out from my marathon so my running will really ramp up.

Pardon me while I melt in a corner over here. Last day doing Tour of Watopia stage 2 before tomorrow's commencement of the climbing stages. Decided to get stuck in with a group and hang there no matter what.

OMFG, this group was holding 3.2-4.0 w/kg the ENTIRE TIME. Fastest group I've stuck with yet. Put into perspective how much pleasure riding I've been doing for the last couple of weeks, because holy cats, I am dead. Needless to say, no makeup rides today - those'll wait for later this week. I'm going to go sweat buckets in the shower now.
