    Goals for 2/17
    - Log all food ❌
    - 40 oz of fluids ❌
    - Yoga ❌
    - Crochet ❌
    - Wash dishes ❌
    - Change/wash sheets ✅
    - fold clean laundry ❌
    - Follow up on fixing stove ❌

Afternoon went to crap and I gave up on myself. Ended up eating a bunch of crackers and half a Lunchables meal and calling it dinner. Stove can’t be fixed until next week, so the $8.00 pack of beef that I thawed out now has to be tossed in the garbage and I have to rearrange all my plans about what to cook. This shouldn’t even be pissing me off this much, but I’m so burnt out that every tiny little thing seems way worse than it actually is.

Random off topic question... But if you have advice I'd really appreciate it.

So the kids have nits. They keep reoccuring, I know why, the treatments I buy only do one head. So I have to buy 2 cause Casey's small still so I can just about squeeze her in with the left overs from Sask and Marley. I've done the treatments, but it says I need to retreat them a week later. I can't afford that really. So I've bought them as often as I can, managed to get a free bottle from the drs but they don't typically prescribe them anymore.

I'm pretty sure I've got rid of them all now but the problem I've got it that Saskias hair is absolutely loaded with dead nit eggs. And with her having the darkest hair I can see it when I'm up close. The other two have lighter hair so it's harder to see but they'll most likely have the same.

But because lice essentially glue the eggs with flipping concrete I don't know how to get them out.
I've combed and combed and they don't budge. I can pick them out but that's gonna be horrendously time consuming. But does anyone know of any like homemade remedy or some sort of ingredient that dissolves the glue so they'll fall off.

As far as I'm aware the treatments kill the eggs but doesn't remove them, the comb is supposed to but its not doing it?

I feel for the kids because I remember what it was like when I had nits as a kid. And all the combing and combing and combing and my mum's frustration with it all. She got so annoyed that she was tempted to cut all my hair 😂 she didn't.. thankfully.

But yeah any advice on this one? X

100 days from now reminder: What I do today gets me where I want to be. [Feb. 1 - May 11]

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
    Height 5'4"
    65 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA

    2023 Goals:
    1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be satisfied if I can get back down to 160# this year
    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end ~ 1.31.23 ack!
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes now that I have the time
January: parsnip/potato mash; St. Louis gooey butter cake (Mom's bday)
February: creamy bacon corn chowder (slow cooker)
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x)
    January 1x6 days, 1x5 days, 2x4 days
    February 1x6 days, 1x4 days
    • Walk dog 3-4 miles, treadmill when necessary in winter, weights/my home version of circuit & other x-training
    • Continue PT (physical therapy) exercises to strengthen arthritic knees & hip flexor
    4) MapMyWalk app You Vs. the Year 1,023km challenge started on Jan. 1
    January 48.14 miles
February 22.06 miles so far (2/11)
    • In 2022 I logged 500.4 miles, or 805km. Not the full challenge, but with knee issues early in year, I was happy to get this far.
    5) At least 7,500 steps per day
    • I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps
    6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run
    • Registered for Seroogy's Valentine 5K on 2.4.23 ~ skipped 2023 due to frigid temps with wind chill around 0F... didn't want a repeat of overuse injury from last winter. In 2022, I had to cancel race due to inflammation in knees from overuse & arthritis (medico advised).
    • register for Bellin 10K on 6.10.23 ~ 2022 first time in person since 2019 & not as large of turnout, still 4,000+ participants
    • register for Packers 5K ~ date TBD
    • register for Bellin Women's 5K ~ date TBD (1,000+ for all races in 2022)
    • watch for other events to possibly add
    7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together
    • Excellent goal previous years, to be continued
    8) Make efforts to keep in touch with parents, siblings and friends (most live in other towns or states)
    • Visit parents 1-2 times each month, phone calls in between ~ they're in mid to late 80s and live 90 miles away
    • Monthly contact with former colleagues/others in town, now that I'm retired
      1.12.23 lunch w/ C
    9) Continue to declutter bedroom, home office, basement, books in living room
    • Made great progress on first floor of house in 2022, keep going
Word for 2022-23: Tenacity ~ persistent determination; the mental strength to resist opposition, danger or hardship

Oh boy, no advice about head lice as I never even had them as a kid. Maybe part of the solution is teaching them to be extra careful about not sharing hair brushes, not sharing coats, scarves or clothes with kids at school, things like that.

You have to get those out, leaving them in is not sanitary. Maybe your local pharmacist/chemist would be the person to talk to about what to do.

Wow .. I feel for you! My son ended up getting them in grade school.. and then we all got them! They spread so easily .. it is not just about using someone's comb, etc. They can jump from one person to another.
I had great luck with something I bought at the pharmacy ... ha.. that was close to 35 years ago.. so I don't remember what it was called. But it sounds like you are already using it .. it was some kind of shampoo to use, then you use this very fine tooth comb that came with it, and they comb out. Its awful. I know I had to wash all our bedding, put all the pillows in the dryer etc!

@Bex953172 - I feel for you and the girls. Our girls kept getting them in school. I did cut their hair. This is what I learned.
The lice likes clean hair and doesn’t like hairspray. I also found a shampoo from your area that was all essential oils. I kept tea tree oil in the shampoo and conditioner until they were out of elementary school
Unfortunately I don’t know of any way to get rid of the nits without combing or picking though.
    Good luck.

    Thanks for everyone's advice.
Yeah I've had the specialised solutions. I went shopping yesterday and begrudgingly bought the shampoo too.

And your right about them jumping!! I never realised but when I did their treatment I saw one stuck in the comb and that bugger jumped right back into her hair, so I combed it out again.

I will ask the pharmacy, but they'll probably try sell me more stuff 😂
They're off this week for school holidays so I guess I have the time to do it!
I don't really mind picking them out. It's the kids who moan. 😂

    Have a super day everyone!

Hi everyone. I really need to join in again, I didn't mean to stop posting last year but life got busy and the weeks just kept passing by so fast. I had family staying from abroad which was lovely, and I also finally sold my parents house (took 3 months longer than it should have!) So the pressure of dealing with all that is gone, I now only have to find somewhere in my house to store all the paperwork from being executor 3 times, plus the few things I'd like to keep from my parents. It's been piled in a corner for far too long.

My weight is still the same as a year ago, but my eating habits have not been good. Possibly the worst they've ever been. So my focus to start with is to eat more healthily, more fruit and veg, and less "snack" food. No eating when I'm not hungry. Once I've got that under control I'll start weighing and logging again. I have a big list of reasons of why it would be better to weigh a bit less!

Lovely to see a lot of "old" faces, and new posters too.
Sending a special big hug to @pridesabtch , I hope your daughter is getting the help she needs.

@Bex953172 I've not tried it, but I read online that wetting the hair with a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar loosens the "glue" that holds the nits on the hair, and makes it easier to comb them out. Might be worth a try.

    Will post goals tomorrow morning.

    • Registered for Bellin 10K on 6.10.23 ~ 2022 first time in person since 2019 & not as large of turnout, still 4,000+ participants

I came home yesterday so Vanessa could come home from my sister in laws. She needs her momma right now. It broke my heart to leave Sierra in Pittsburgh while she is still in the hospital. Tim stayed there and I came home. We’ve split parented many times when the kids were in different activities, but this was harder. Both of my babies are suffering and I can’t be in two places at once. Tim is able to work remotely this week and stay there. We have a room at the Hilton that is only a 10 minute walk from the hospital, so he can get by without a car. I’m rambling, but I just have no words to describe my emotions. Tomorrow I go to work, and hope that people leave me alone.

Sierra isn’t doing well in the in patient program, especially over the weekend when they have a lot of free time. She just see it as a waste of her time. Then there is a matter of missing her classes and how this may effect her scholarship. So much going on, and so much uncertainty.

I am so angry and scared.

@pridesabtch Just hang in there, you're doing the absolute best you can right now for everyone. From reading your posts over the last few years it's easy to see you are a fantastic mother who would do ANYTHING for your girls,I've always been in awe at the amount you do and how much your girls have achieved. And I know you can't take their pain away right now and everything is a complete mess. But it won't be forever, you've just got to keep going. Keep pushing through each day.
We are always here when you need it.

I honestly wish there was more I could say, I wish there was something I could physically do to help you all xx

@pridesabtch I so feel for you, it's horrible when you can't make things right for your children. You are doing all you can, as you say, you can't be in 2 places at once. Keep going, you will all get through this x

Monday morning and I'm going to make the effort to achieve things! The last 2 Mondays I've got up thinking this and then got bad news which has knocked my mood back. So third time lucky!

    JFT Monday 20th Feb

    3 proper meals
    Fruit and veg
    Only one small snack
    Chase up missing business payment
Spend at least 2 hours on council appeal
    Make decision on tree

Man I went off the rails this weekend. Saturday Teigan had her party at the house for her 16th birthday
I spent all day Friday preparing and most of Saturday leading up to it. We had great food, and amazing cake. If I recorded all the calories I ate that day I’m pretty sure my fitness pal app would j start sending me warning messages.
Sara tried to stop me but once i started there was no stopping me.I totally lose control. All other parts of my life I feel like I hold together pretty well but dang it food always gets me…
I could go on and on but what’s done is done
    Todays goal
    Stay under 2000 calories
    Run on treadmill after work
Drink at least 8 glssses of water
No more than 2 diet cokes all day
    Log all calories
Forgive myself for the weekend and move on

Went to work this morning, just to realize it is a plant holiday. There is no one here which is actually nice, because I'm not in a place to deal with people and I have a ton of catch up work to do from last week.

I need to get back into some healthier habits.

    JFT Goals
    - Work by 8:00 (haha)
    - Catch up on complaints & QAR's
    - Log Food
    - Stay within Maintenance
    - No alcohol
    - Shower
    - Bed by 11:00
