Snacks

Hi. Looking for suggestions for protein rich snacks. I don't like bars. Thank you!

Hard-boiled eggs, beef jerky, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, roasted chickpeas.

Also crispy chickpeas, dry roasted soybeans (aka edamame aka soynuts), reduced-fat string cheese or other reduced fat cheese (some are yucky, some are good IMO).

How about cottage cheese dip with celery? I make it with cottage cheese, djon mustard, garlic and salt. I use proportions to taste.

I usually make a low cal homemade ice cream for dessert, which comes in around 125 or so before we add a squirt of low cal whipped cream, and maybe some sprinkles and zero or low cal syrup.

But last night hubs had a chill and didn’t want ice cream.

I improvised a serving of cottage cheese. 1 gram cacao powder (a little goes a long way), 10gr hagel aka chocolate sprinkles, and 10gr muesli.

It came to 190 and was bowl-lickin’ good.

Find what you like and experiment. There’s great ice cream recipes here:

They should work with any ice cream maker, but I’m a massive fan of the Ninja Creami. Yeah, it makes your ear drums bleed, but the results are amazing.

I also frequently eat meringues. Sprouts sells a Belgian brand called irresistables (sic) that are out of this world, and only 30 calories for a large one.

Ive experimented with aquafaba meringues, which are about 3 or 5 calories apiece. I can’t taste the bean taste. I don’t have an airtight container big enough to really store them. They taste like cotton candy after a day in a ziploc. Being made of bean juice, there’s probably some protein there.

I treat iced coffee or chai latte as snacks. I can make a mean ice coffee for under 20 calories, and a killer chai latte for under 40, complete with a heaping mound of steamed milk. They only add a couple grams protein apiece but sometimes a couple drinks are enough to get me over the protein hump.
