Happy to find MyFitnessPal

I’m in my mid 50s and I feel like there’s still a lot of adventure left to live. I have more than 100 pounds to lose but my first big goal is to no longer fall into the “obese” range based on BMI. I’ll need to lose 70 pounds to achieve it.

    Welcome!

I hope the happiness continues as you find success here. Yeah - mid fifties means you have lots of adventures ahead. Now you're starting an exciting journey into a new you.

I think it's great you already have two goals. Next maybe consider something a little shorter term, like a goal for the year or even the quarter. You'll hear plenty of people give wise advice to go slow. With 100 pounds to lose, you can be a little more aggressive at first, but if you're in it for the long term, like the next 30-50 years, you need to get habits you can keep doing the rest of your life. If you aim for a pound a week, a 500 calorie deficit, you'll be far more than halfway to your 70 pound goal in a year. If you end up moving faster than you plan, that's good too.

I'd love to hear the strategies you are putting into place to make sure you succeed both in the short term, mid-term (a couple years) and long term.

You're going to love how you feel when you can move less of you around from place to place.

Hey, I’m 56, I am a cook and know quite a bit about nutrition, menopause etc. I do the I.F. GF & refined sugar free. Sometimes cook with a tiny Maple Syrup or Stevia. I’m a couple weeks back to using the app and am down 12lbs. I am needing to lose 60 more…had some dodgy sugars & cholesterol tests for the first time ever! I am committed to this as my new addition to self-care and it’s made all the difference to think of it that way. I never did reach out to community in the past, but I feel that might be the true secret to success! Feel free to add me if ya like 🤓💚 I wish you every success on your journey to better health.
