Friend with Open Diaries

Hi new friends!

My name is Mandi. I'm 31, a mom of 4 and just fell back in love with lifting. I work with a powerlifting coach and despite being a "thunder chunk" I am focusing on maintaining my weight - with my current fitness routine this would result in increased muscle and decreased fat, or a re-comp. I do want to eventually shed additional weight, but I have a long history of starving, purging, binge-eating, etc. So, just logging my food almost every day and hitting my protein goal is a huge win for me!

My diary is open, as far as I know, and I would love friends on here who are active and also have open diaries - for inspiration, motivation, comraderie, accountability, etc.

Thank you!

    Hi, @StrongMandi13!

If you haven't checked it out yet, you might find some good stuff in the recomposition thread here:

Your fellow lifting enthusiasts are probably more likely to post in the Gaining Weight and Bodybuilding part of the MFP Community, though it's not the most active area here - but there's some good stuff, and it's a place to ask questions and get attention from other serious lifters, no matter whether you're losing, gaining or maintaining weight.

I'm a pretty poor-quality MFP friend (more of a Community forum kind of gal, I guess), 3 times your age and then some (67), active but not a serious lifter, and in maintenance after losing to a healthy weight with MFP back in 2015-16. My diary is open to friends, but I think all it may offer someone like you is maybe some ideas for getting protein into your day - I'm routinely exceeding 100g daily in maintenance as as vegetarian, which is a bit over 1g per pound of estimated lean body mass. (I think that's an adequate level, in my situation.) I don't like protein bars, powders or faux meats, so don't normally use them. I don't think there's anything wrong with those - they can for sure be helpful. I just don't find them very tasty or satisfying. It feels pretty easy at this point for me to get protein from my foods (YMMV), but I admit that protein can take a bit to dial in at first on reduced calories.

You might find this thread useful, in that regard (I did!):

Wishing you huge success with your goals!

Welcome! My diary is open to my friends (and you're welcome to add me), but it's certainly not inspirational. Plenty of sensory issues means I eat some weird stuff lol. Congrats on getting back into lifting, it's so fun!
