Can I connect with any of you regulars on Garmin Connect? I am motivated seeing all of my 'connections' out doing their runs.

I am not seeing the Garmin "connection request" links. But here is one of my recent activities.

I finished week three of this 16 week 5K training plan.

In March 2020 (peak covid reactivity) I developed a stress fracture in my right tibia. Being fit I thought: work from home? I am going to run five miles every day for lunch. I jumped right into those increased miles and about three weeks later I had to quit running.

My recovery plan was simple, sit, and eat until 2023.

After about a year I told my doctor this (on a zoom appointment) The doctor prescribed an X-ray, which showed thickening at the site of the initial pain. The doctor said "yes, you had a stress fracture last year that has healed up.)

This stress fracture was my first major running injury. I think about this as I've decided to start running again. Anyone else deal with a stress fracture?

    February Goal: 90 Miles

    2/3: 5.27 miles
    2/4: 5.26 miles
    2/5: 13.15 miles
    2/6: 5.02 miles
    2/9: 5.52 miles
    2/10: 6.02 miles
    2/12: 10.10 miles
    2/13: 5.51 miles
    2/15: 6.02 miles
    2/16: 5.12 miles
    2/19: 10.26 miles

    77.25/90 miles completed for February

I ran 10 miles this morning. The temperature was ok, but it was windy and cloudy. I wore shorts and a t-shirt with sleeves for the first 2.5 miles. It was an uneventful run, but it is always nice to get a long run on Sunday.

@shanaber Deserts are so beautiful! I love it when you can find flowers blooming in a desert, like these little unexpected pops of color.

@tarun_yadavA It's hard for me to even wrap my mind around eating that much every day! I hit 2500ish maybe one day a week, even at the height of marathon training. Obviously I'm just a smaller person than you are, both in height and weight, but thinking about eating that much every day is tiring! :D

@chris_in_cal I have never had a stress fracture. I feel like I should knock on wood or something. The only running injury I have ever had was my recent Achilles tendinitis. Overall, I've been really fortunate so far.

Found you. Feel free to add me too.
I use a garmin but have it automatically synced with strava, which is what I really use to track. Aside from my husband, you will be my first connection on garmin!

    Great,

Yeah, that has always been a thing with other bicyclists I know. I haven't gone down the Strava rabbit hole (yet). :)

Yep, that definitely would help get you there. Never had one of those. I love a snickers bar though, so they're probably delicious!

@shanaber The Great American Trail would be so cool! Thanks for the link. I didn't know that existed. My parents had a rail to trail near their old house that I would use to run when I visited for the holidays. It was neat. Trees all around, flat, maintained.

@shanaber I love rail trails! Thanks for the link. Definitely a bucket list item.

@scott255 I swear there is something wrong with the GPS satellites in Tx early in the am. My runs in the morning are always sooooo much slower than if I run at lunch. I can even see a difference when we change the clocks.

I used to live next to the Lancaster-Lebanon Rail Trail.

Best thing ever. Shady, smooth, 20 miles with almost zero intersections.

That is the only thing I miss about central Pennsylvania.

    Feb 1 – 5.34 miles
    Feb 4 – 9.07 miles
    Feb 6 – 5.1 miles
    Feb 8 – 5.11 miles
    Feb 9 – 4.3 miles
    Feb 11 – 10 miles
    Feb 13 – 5.06 miles
    Feb 15 – 3.1 miles
    Feb 16 – 5.02 miles
    Feb 18 – 12.01 miles
    Feb 20 – 5.10 miles

I got in 5 miles before the rain came today. It was a lovely 43F and pretty uneventful.

@shanaber – that’s a gorgeous desert dweller you found out there. I love lupine. Some of the gardens in Ireland last year had beautiful varieties in bloom. Exploring the slot canyons in Utah was my favorite part of my trip out there last year. I love the idea of the Great American Trail project!

@chris_in_cal – I’ve yet to experience a stress fracture. Continuing to follow your 16-week 5K training plan sounds like a sensible approach to get back into running without an injury. I use Garmin to track my runs but am clueless about the connects.

@Tarun_yadavA – I could totally see Scooby getting rungry!

@Tramboman – Are you participating in the Great American Bird Count this year?

Nice long run yesterday @kgirlhart !

Nice run again @tarun_yadavA . Interesting about your eating needs. I like the image of slimer too.

Nice treadmill run @Laurz9191 . I've never tried audio books. Today, I watch a Tuner Classic Movie.

You're doing great @Tramboman . Love all the birds you are seeing/hearing.

@shanaber That's cool. It would be nice be able to run that entire trail system. Not all at once though.

@Scott6255 Sorry you had a bad run. I hate those.....when I think I am going really fast and must be to almost a mile, look, and I'm not even at the half mile point yet. You did great to keep going.

Nice run @Teresa502 . Glad you got it in before the rain hit.

Today's plan called for intervals. I chose a treadmill workout. I walked a total of 1 mile for warm up and cool down. The run was 5 min at 4.2 mph, 8 x (1.5/2.5 min at 5.5/3.8 mph), 11:12 min at 4.2 mph. That resulted in 3.50 miles in 48:12 min for a 13:46 min/mile avg pace. Surprisingly, it didn't feel too bad. Avg HR was 127 with a max of 145 bpm.

    2/8: 3.2 miles
    2/10: 6.3 miles
    2/11: 10 miles
    2/13: 5 miles
    2/14: 5 miles

Got a little taste of summer this evening. It was 80 F, which feels so hot after having a long run with temps in the upper 40s. Weather this time of year is always so nuts.
