"Gradually" is a really good idea. Finding the healthy habits we can sustain (relatively) happily long term, almost on autopilot, is IMO where the magic is. ("Lose weight fast" through extreme measure - that can be a trap, an on-ramp to yo-yo dieting.)

I didn't do any special kind of diet or eating style to lose weight, just worked at tweaking my eating habits to dial in appropriate calories and reasonable overall nutrition, using foods I personally find filling, enjoyable, practical affordable. That was in a context as much as possible of doing active stuff I ideally find fun, or at least pleasant to tolerable.

On the eating front, this was pretty much what I did to lose weight, after around 30 previous years of being overweight to obese, and what I've done for 7+ years since loss to stay at a healthy weight:

That won't be perfect for everyone - I think no one thing is - but it's worked well for me.

Wishing you success . . . because the quality of life improvement is for sure worth it!
