Hello Everyone. On day 6 of keto diet and feel like hell. Headache, irritable, nauseous, insomnia. Anyone else experience this when they started? How long will this last? NOT fun.

Are you supplementing electrolytes, as I understand to be recommended in this scenario?

    This.

Keto flu is generally an electrolyte balance. There's generally very low levels of salt in a ketogenic diet, and salt is essential and people feel they're doing something unhealthy by adding salt, so be mindful of these little known facts. Cheers

That's the KETO Flu. No reason to do it. Your body is telling you it doesn't like it. Just use a normal carb inclusive diet or some low carb variation. KETO is not a backdoor entrance into stored fat as many are led to believe. It can have SOME advantages for SOME people however there is no real advantage in most cases

Yeah, I agree a keto diet is a very tough go if it's just weight loss you want and is pretty hard to justify in this context.

If it's for the therapeutic effect, then keep in mind that you may have to mix and match vegetables to see which ones effect you more than others. For example oxalates really effect some people hard and some veg will have lower contents of oxalates like cauliflower, radishes, kale, broccoli, asparagus for example and others will have high to very high levels, like spinach, soy products, beets for example. There's other compounds as well like phytic acid, gluten, lectins, tannins, saponins, trypsin, solanine which again are greatly reduced in the ketogenic diet but depending on a persons individual tolerances can be adjusted in the foods consumed. Again, if this is for the therapeutic effect and your curious to try it I'd suggest for your 20 -50 g's of carbs that you keep those veg to as few as you can when you start. See how it effects you and from there you can start to change up those carbs to get a better handle which ones effect you the least, or seem to make your physical symptoms reduce, sometimes simply removing one product can change the outcome a lot. Cheers.
