A disagreement over the weekend,,, it didn't lead to as in the past eating most things in sight!

Let's face it, none of us gained weight by having healthy emotions. Many of us were given comfort through food as a kid, or it was a place of stress eating with the family, or with little to no family a different type of stress. For so many reasons I ate and ate. Looking back this had started when I was 7 after my parents divorced. My Mom had full time custody, I only at first saw my Dad 3 times a year. This would change over time as I got older and braver. I was feeding myself junk food at age 7. Along with habits most little girls didn't talk about (stealing it from stores).
As a teen as I babysat the money I earned I could spend as I wish. I did not gain weight,, it was easy to hide. Very easy. I was extremely active which helped on not gain. As I became an adult out on my own, FREEDOM to eat as I wished!! I maintained extreme skinniness because I was able to stay very active. After a bad car accident and 2 other horrible events back to back, I could not maintain being active, certainly not extremely active the weight piled on. Emotions ALL OVER THE PLACE big time!! From 118 to 288!! More than 2 times what I had weight and more!!
TY TY TY TY to the 5% Challenge which had started on Sparkpeople (since closed, in August of 2021, we went looking for a site our members would be able to enjoy, and have the same support, we found MYFITNESSPAL to be the BEST FIT!! TY TY TY TO THE MANY MFP members who happily took us under their wings, and helped us to learn the ropes. We are ready to celebrate very soon our 2 years of SUCCESS!!!! We are delighted we are here!!
On the 5% Challenge I've learned losing weight is to much more than what I eat, and how much I exercise, there's the entire mental, and emotional aspect also which ties into losing weight.
Back in 2010 when I started this journey (From 288 to 171! GONE 117 lbs!) I've been learning how to control my emotions to just what they are. EMOTIONS which was are fine/healthy to have. We need emotions. What I didn't need this past weekend was to not eat them, but realize why they were here (upset is a small word for what they were!) but, food wasn't the cure, or even "helpful" to run to. How did I learn this? I belong to the 5% Challenge. What IS the 5% Challenge? Where we join a smaller team within the main team, we find support. In that support over the years I've asked for and gotten adivce that WORKS not from an "expert" but, people like myself. People who were successing losing weight with no gimmicks, just watching what they ate (In my case I've made very few changes eating food wise, but with portion control/AKA serving sizes) adding in and taking away from a meal so it is still the YUMMIEST for me, but not to much. TY to those on the 5% Challenge who've come to be friends, as we help each other through not only life challenges but also the JOYS. Yes ever notice how many eat joyfully at happy times? It's under control so much better now for me.
Would you like to belong to a challenge (Team/Group) of people who have the same goals you do? Eating better with healthier habits? Those are the building blocks to learning how to handle emotions, having others to help you learn how to handle the ups and downs. We also exercise, at your current level, for me that meant at first 10 mins of sit down exercises, 3 times a week. My body was weak. It is now also, but I've learned I need to move (chair exercises are BACK, floor yoga is here to stay, bye bye has gone my severe chronic pain!) some when in pain, weird to me, and many others it helps us not hurts us done correctly, in moderation for our bodies.
Come and check us out with the 2023 Summer 5% Challenge!! Below is the link. GIVE YOURSELF TIME is something you'll hear us say, time to exercise patience with yourself, we didn't put the weight on fast. Learn the healthy habits etc. you too will be writing your own success story.
After you hit JOIN please pick one of the 8 teams. The teams are smaller to help each of us not be lost. This is a 8 week challenge (more fullow quickly if you wish to stay active throughout the year or as you wish). We do ask that no one drop out unless it's a severe emergency. Let your team leaders know if you are struggling, or discouraged, it's normal to be, it's why most never stay with a healthier lifestyle. We've got you!!
