Hello. This is Sherry
Currently I am in a wheelchair most of the day. I use crutches when up and on my feet. It’s hard work and I’m looking forward to being more mobile on my feet. part of that is monitoring diet, including food choices, increasing calories with protein & building muscle & strength & drinking enough water.

Hi, Sherry,
I think you absolutely have the right course of action in mind. Reading between the lines, it sounds like your current mobility limitations may be things that can improve, with time and healing?
There have certainly been people here who've succeeded at weight management as wheelchair users, even people who are/were permanent wheelchair users. I've read posts from them, but don't have a link at my fingertips. You might find some success stories by using the search function? Here's one from a few years back, but I'm sure there are more:

For clarity, I'm one of the fortunate people who is not mobility limited . . . but I think you may find that many of us share a lot of the same challenges during weight loss, regardless of age, physical condition, and more. Please don't be afraid to participate in the Community at large.
Though the people are diverse, we have a lot in common. There are a diversity of communication styles, too, anything from tough love to ultra-gentle hints, but I'm convinced that most people truly want to help others.
The one thing I'd say is that if healing or rehab are part of your goals, it would probably be good to target a moderate weight loss rate rather than an extreme one. Healing/rehab require calories and nutrition to work best.
I'm cheering for you to succeed!0
