Muscle gain

Hey all, I'm Andy 40 Yr old from South Scotland and started my journey a few months back wanting to loose weight (I was 13st 11lbs) and gain muscle. I have kept a strict diet of low carbon high protein and cut 90% sugars I would say out my diet and am now 12st 5lbs and think I'm happy at the weight especially as I'm growing in muscle now. Looking for similar like minded gym friends to bounce off regarding protein ideas and powders or even new meal ideas while training.

Muscle gain on a calorie deficit is pretty minimal because the process is opposite of anabolism (catabolism). You MAY gain a little muscle in the beginning, but it tapers off fast after. Remember to add muscle means adding weight. You add weight by being in surplus not deficit.

That said, by dropping body fat you can LOOK more muscular simply because the fat is no longer acting as a blanket to hide the already-existing muscle underneath.

The idea of the cut was to loose the belly bulge as I thought I would loose that which I almost fully have then gain muscle weight......maybe I didn't explain it right sorry about that
