you're asking people on a weight loss forum about a place that sells mostly unhealthy food and has women in skimpy outfits. if you wanted an unbiased opinion, this is probably the wrong place.

...so far I've gotten lots of responses from people who have gone there...that's what I was looking for so...

This is a fitness site, and particularly the chit-chat forum. Last I checked it was myFITNESSpal, not myweightlosspal...

Anyway, honestly....the wings at Hooters aren't all that. But they do have good burgers and good sandwiches and the atmosphere is just all around fun. I am straight and I go to Hooter's because I like the food and I enjoy the fun atmosphere. The sexual explotation, while it is present, isn't as bad as people make it out be, imo.

oh boy, I sure did **** that one up eh? we never focus on weight loss around here

Hooters is awesome. The wait staff can be hit or miss if you are going for looks. I used to be a trainer for them. The atmosphere is different than other sports bars. There is always something going on that other sports bars don't have. Yeah people go for the girls, but the food is delicious.
Despite what people think it is family friendly. And it's always fun. Hula hoops, games, races, songs, sports, beer, game nights, car shows, promotions...That was probably my favorite college job, and the most fun job I have ever had.

ALL IM SAYING IS- if there was a (lets just use an example) butler cafe in the US where hot men came and waited on you and offered you food and drinks and were fun and proud of their bodies... Would you think thats shameful and embarrasing? ****, i'd be there everyday.

not sure how many fit people are going to opt for their fried food, which is what they seem to do best, which was my point about this not being the best pool of previous patrons to ask.

Actually, I know plenty of fit people who eat at Hooters, myself included. We even eat *gasp* pizza and burgers and BBQ and drink beer!!!!!!!!!!!! And I LOVE fried food. Being fit isn't about avoiding some foods completely; it's about learning how to moderate and fit the things you want to eat into your diet without going overboard.

I agree, but I was trying to make sense of those who say the food is disgusting. there is one hooters in my city and its great, never heard anyone call it disgusting. Its certainly not as healthy as a salad joint, but perhaps its just the variation of quality among the many chains that explains the variation in opinion. plus, there seems to be a lot of bitterness over what their wait staff is wearing.

The first one I checked out was in SC many years ago.

Hot women and heaving bosom were in abundance and the food was...well, I don't know. They just sprayed insecticide in the morning and cockroaches the size of Shetland ponies were emerging from everywhere. Decide to hand back the menu and head elsewhere.

I'm sure it was a one-off and the problem has long since been resolved.

Hooters has disgusting food and the ugliest outfits ever.

ETA: If you need to wear shiny panty hose to hide your cellulite, you probably shouldn't wear those shorts in the first place.

and now with the body shaming....

OP: i didn't say you weren't allowed to ask a question, it just seems odd to me that you come on MFP to ask if it's worth going there when you have one "just down the street" and you are curious if it is any good. I didn't realize I wasn't allowed to post my thoughts!

What a weird statement, you don't ever ask people if a restaurant is good or worth trying?

usually i ask, ya know, my friends, the locals, people who have been to the location I'm curious about. Not the internets.

So she chose to ask people on here, so what? And just like you're allowed to post your thoughts, so is she. I can't believe you think this is so odd.

possibly its me frequenting to strip clubs so often but I am kinda immune to the "girls with tight T-shirts" factor of hooters. I know all the hustle. They have decent wings and the service is decent too but I've only been there a handful of times

That being said, I did watched the episode you're talking about and I believe the guy really did believe that he wants an environment where he would let his daughter work and that to me is something that I can respect.

don't some strip clubs also have buffets? I mean.... if you're going for the "food".... might as well go to the all you can eat at the strip club.

My buddy owned most of the clubs in the area and only one had actual food there (besides the regular bar food). IDK, I just never really dig the food there. The bartender was my very good friend and so anytime I'd go we usually hit the coney islands after work.

besides, at least I never went to hooters for actual food. It was just a small gathering over some wings (20 wings don't do much for me...)

Why NOT go to one? They are a good sports bar, they have pretty good wings (I've gotten take out on more than one occasion) and they have good looking waitresses.

Well I mean...For me attractive waitresses aren't a reason to go but...I'm a straight woman, so I realize that's a little different than men or women who may be interested in it.

I just never found an occasion to go. There's some pretty awesome restaurants near us...I'm just wondering how the food is/drinks are. I enjoy sports bars, but there's a Ram's Head not far from us and their beer selection is huge and their food is always on pointe.

Just curious how good it is, as there's one right up the street.

Im straight but I still like to look so why not. they have good food, very friendly waitresses and i can look at what my *kitten* is going to look like when I am finished my journey here. :drinker:

I've never been. What's the big draw? Just big boobies?

The waitresses wear short-shorts with shiny tights, and low-cut tops with push-up bras. Boobies may or may not be big. They also flirt and giggle with the customers. I guess some men never have pretty girls give them any attention to them in real life so they're willing to pay for it. We have bikini espresso stands around here that operate on the same principle.

There was one of those in the town I went to college. I felt bad for them on cold days. LoL-it was the freaking northwest! How miserable! I mean...they must cover up when it gets cold...Some things I just never thought about LoL

Any young waitress will flirt and giggle with a customer to get a bigger tip, you don't have to go to Hooter's to see that. My mother-in-law is a waitress at a road side dinner and "flirts" with the men her age to get larger tips. It is all an act. And honestly, I wish I had that much confidence in my body to walk around in tight shorts and low-cut tops like that, not saying that I would, but I envy the confidence some of those girls have.

You don't know the difference between sex appeal and objectification. There is a pretty big difference.

And the problem is that there ISN'T such an institution for men. Hence the objectification of women's bodies. Next thing I know you'll tell me you LOVE the new Robin Thicke video. Lol.

Jeeeeesus! Women can be sexual without being treated like objects for the viewing pleasure of men.

I fear I may end up being the thread-killer here. DH and I used to go to Hooters quite a bit. I really like their wings. The last time we went, we got their Lotsa Tots appetizer, ate half of it, and found a dead roach in it. Um, yeah, that was the LAST time we went. Now we go to BWW or WingStop for wings.

ETA: I just saw another post about roaches, so um, yeah, sounds like it might be a problem. I say eat somewhere nicer, then go to the gentlemen's club for some T&A. :drinker:

Having never been to a hooters, why go to one?

I've been to them a few times. Of course the first time was just to see what all the bewberz hype was about. Food was decent but really it wasn't anything great. I think I ended up there one other time with a group of hard up middle aged salesmen that thought it was AWESOME. lol. That was fun to watch them interacting.

Overall, I go to a food and beer place for good food an beer. I'm not interested in what the wait staff is wearing or looks like. If they happen to be scantly clothed or hot at a place I really enjoy, so much the better for me.

Been once, went for the boobs, ate some disgusting wings, will never be back. Hooters sucks, but I also just watched that show over the weekend. And as much as I hated their wings, I hate that Jimbo guy even more. PIG!!

It is a decent sports bar with some eyecandy.

    Tilted Kilt is better.

Tilted Kilt's food is awful and over priced.

i think the food at both places are comparable in quality and price. and the waitresses at Tilted Kilt are usually hotter.

I have been to a few Hooters, love the clams and the crab legs. Although the last 2 times we went it wasn't as good. The wings are pretty good, I like that you can get them without breading (order them naked, so much better). The chili is pretty good too.

Now we go to Joe's Crab shack for Crab legs and clams, really like them. We don't have too many places around us that you can get that. Clams yes, but steamed clams not so much.
