I really, really liked this article. Very inspiring! I said YES!!! to the decision to get healthier - often. And that is the problem - the truth (according to behavioural scientists, and books like Good Habits, Bad Habits etc) is that habit is stronger than willpower in the long run. Its tiny habits, that build life long changes.

Exactly---we've been trying to tell people that. If you build good habits, you just go on autopilot. With willpower you need to be constantly alert and eventually you get distracted. That's when it all falls apart.
I think you use willpower to start, but use it to build those habits that will see you through the future.2
