Beating sugar?

I was a 1-2 glass of wine per evening person for many years, until I finally dealt with the reality that that wasn't healthy. I am now down to 4-6 drinks per week, which is not perfect, but much better.

Part of why I was drinking was to deal with stress. In order to cope with losing that crutch, I allowed myself to turn to sugar. I now realize that I am having more than twice the RDA of sugar, every day.

I take a medication for a few years now, and I notice that I have had trouble controlling cravings since I got on it. Any advice for controlling cravings, or reducing sugar in any other way?

I drink a tea of cinnamon, white sage and Holy Basil (Tulsi) first thing each morning and it curbs the sweet tooth issue immensely. Many herbs help with this but these are my go to morning mix, 1 part each. Reducing processed sugar in your diet is another subject, meaning stay away from processed foods. Whole foods are always best, even in fruits. When i get an insatiable sweet craving, I have a half a banana or a couple apple slices. The fruit is a "good sugar" and loaded with other benefits (vitamins, fiber....). As for the alcohol, I understand I use to be a functioning alcoholic for many years I'm now 14 years sober. Removing alcohol from my "routine" or crutch completely also helped with reducing sugar issues.
