Iโm a 65 year young Oregon gal, working to hit my next goal of 130. The plan this round continues to be a minimum of 10,000 steps ๐ฃ, 2-3 days a week at the gym๐๏ธโโ๏ธ, logging โ๏ธ everyday with no snacking after 8:00, and limiting the ๐ทto social events only. And of course guzzling the water ๐ง!!!

DH had planned to cook Salmon (in the oven) but he forgot the oven was broken! I had a nail/pedicure appointment at 5. He texted me 5:30 asking me to meet at a restaurant near our home. I said ok, I'll text when I leave my appointment. He said text ETA too. I replied, being a smart @$$ 17 minutes. Well, he thought I was on my way! He knows there's no way I get a mani and pedi in 30 minutes...but so be it. He went to the restaurant and I showed up about an hour later....and we had dinner! It was still a nice dinner. Then we get to go out again on Saturday as originally planned!! Not good for the scale I might add!11 -

I gained weight last round so I will see how this round goes before deciding on whether to reevaluate what I am doing. I am eating 3 meals a day with no snacks and getting at least 22 active minutes in per day. I stopped counting calories last round and that is probably the problem. I feel the way I am eating at the moment is more sustainable but it is probably more of a maintenance strategy.

2/6 - 151.5 - traveling for work to Salt Lake City this week. Won't be able to weigh myself again until Saturday. Eating on the road is always tough especially when you don't have a lot of control over where you are eating and when. Ran 3 miles exploring the city this afternoon. Excited to have new running scenery this week ๐.
2/7 - DNW - traveling for work. Not really able to log food either - I am at a specialty food show and part of the job is to walk around and sample things so after a breakfast buffet of fresh fruit and a hard boiled egg, it has been random this and random that in bite sized portions. Being specialty food it is, for the most part, on the healthier side (more so than it will be when I go to the Sweets & Snack show in May) but it is a full day of snacking with absolutely no way to actually track what it is. Trying to make sure I am only trying things that are true business needs/possibilities and keeping to just one bite even if the sample is larger than that. Ran 3.5 miles before the feeding frenzy began so hopefully helped keep my day โevenโ. Vendor dinner tonight - planning to order soup and salad rather than a full meal - but sometimes my plans are foiled by other plans from the vendor hosting the dinner. Fingers crossed I will be able to order from the menu rather than limited options or a buffet.
2/8 โ DNW - travelling for work. Another day of unavoidable random snacking topped off with a big vendor hosted dinner. Thankful I at least got to run (3 miles this morning) and explore the city even if it was rainy and cloudy the whole time. There will be 0 miles tomorrow since it is an early travel day (catching the train to the airport at 5 am) - but i will be very glad to get home and back to normal routine.

2/6- 173.5 I weighed and logged but forgot to post.
2/7- 173.1 Monthly coffee with a friend night. We schedule the 1st Wednesday of the month. It keeps us consistent and it's something to look forward to. I actually don't drink coffee so it's hot chocolate and a warm chocolate chip cookie night for me. Tonight I skipped the hot chocolate and just had the cookie.
2/8- 171.7 I had easy dinner tonight: Stouffer's meat lovers lasagna. Not sure how that will affect the scale.

1/27 - 178.8 I went up a little because I wasn't focused, but I'm going to do better today.
1/28 - 177.2. I was focused on not eating too much too late last night. That's going to be my focus for the rest of this challenge.
1/29 - 176.2. Ice cream Sunday, but I kept my calories low and still got the win. Today I plan on getting a workout.
1/30 - 176.4. I wasn't focused enough at night, snacking got to me, but I won't let it defeat me today! Onwards and upwards
1/31 177.8. I failed! Binge eating at its best
2/1 176.2. Down from yesterdays nose dive, but still fighting for a victory this week!
2/2 - 175.8. I'm figuring it out. Eating like an upside down pyramid. Meals big for breakfast, medium for lunch, snack for dinner. That's working for me!
2/3 - 177.8. Worked out for the first time in a long time! Weights causing gain, maybe!?!
2/4 - 176.2. I didn't go crazy eating last night. I'm gonna get a win for the final day!!! Let's go!!!
2/5 - 176.8. Well, I finished my first round. There were some good things and some bad things. Looking for houses meant lots of car time and eating out!! I'm pleased with my progress! 1lb weightloss isnt too bad! Thankful we get to do it again!

65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 250 (my 180th). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round, as always, so grateful.
Goals for this round; not going to set any numbers as I only self-sabotage when it looks like Iโm getting there! So, again to weigh less at the end than the start and an NSV to keep resting heart rate under 50 (currently 49, but the norm for me used to be around 46-47), also no binge eating. For a last 7 days we are away with all the family, DS, DD, spouses, & DGC, so will be hard, but will endeavour to do my best. Have the use of an indoor swimming pool daily, sports court and local walks, so will utilise to best of my ability.
Good luck everyone for a successful round.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itโs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

2/9 142.8 โ no structured walking; childminding little DGS. Today we travel to the large holiday home that we will share with DS, DD and their families; excited!! Will not be weighing for the rest of the round, but will aim to stay strong & not gain, canโt afford to gain anymore!! And I'll check in daily.

History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two โkidsโ, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have two parents, 87(mother), 85(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an โall in or notโ person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my motherโs care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

2/6 โ 125.6 Took the morning off from walking yesterday. Tracked well. Convinced DH to go do a single lap around the golf course after dinner, around 1.67 miles. It was nice.
2/7 โ 125.8 Totally misbehaved yesterday. Wiped out a number of โdietโ ice cream treats. Tracked until mid day, but then chose to not spend the time tracking a complex new recipe at dinner (a healthy one mind you โ just lots of ingredients)
2/8 โ 126.0 Ate well yesterday, tracked and hit targets, and walked 5 miles. Not concerned about the number.

So, here I am crawling back with my tail between my legs hoping you will allow me to join you all again. (my self esteem isnโt quite this bad) ๐
In my experience with an endeavor like this, or any other, I have always had a slow start. It seems hopeless. Then at some point, if I can stick to it and put a few good days in a row, I will see real progress. After that I am good to go.
I am planning an active 2024, so this needs to work.

Logging food intake is definitely important to me. I stayed under my goal yesterday because I was watching. Unchecked, I would have found all kinds of things to shove into my cake hole. The past couple days I have felt hunger pangs (I know this is a ridiculous statement because I have no idea what real hunger is.) Whatever it is, in the past year I have rewarded the feeling with immediate snacking, and usually not clean snacks. Thus, logging. I have to find a way to enjoy the pangs.
Exercise yesterday was a group exercise class. I am one of the younger ones. My ego says โstay out of there, that class is for old people.โ My body says โthis class hurts (so good), keep coming back here.โ

Well, here it is, my first backslide of the round. It was inevitable, though there is no real explanation for it this time. I ate right and exercised. But as we know, the body is weird. Especially mine. My scale reading typically bounces around like a ping pong ballโฆ. While I notice some of us here are rock steady.
Could be TMI or water retention or both.
Side note: Is it just me or has the term TMI become just as graphic as using the real term? Either way it is โthe subject about which we do not speak.โ

Spent a couple of hrs yesterday reviewing MFP stats & goals. Determined my personal maintenance kcals is approx 1400 (NOT 1600) as I had determined. Having seven+ months of tracking / hard data is invaluable. I have also been MUCH less active over the past 4-5 weeks (weather). Love having this data and so, I can & will reset.

The yo-yo is exhausting & unhealthy. Takes up way too much brain space.
I learned MY choices created an emotional ๐ข roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to maintain approx. 130lbs & IN SHAPE. Pretty clear that once I reached a goal weight I would then relax/ drift backwards.
As I age it becomes much, MUCH more difficult to lose weight. I could lose 15lbs easy in 8 weeks up to 2022 ish โฆ This is absolutely not true anymore!
While active with ๐ถโโ๏ธ& ๐พ itโs clear a ST routine is absent. Time to incorporate ST ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ ๐โโ๏ธ๐คธ๐ผas my TRUE focus.

I ate very responsibly yesterday until about 8 p.m., when I had a bowl of ice cream. I was hungry, but should have eaten something healthy instead. Still, my calories were only slightly over my goal. Day by day.

Ugh. I considered lying about it, but whatโs the point of that? And how did I get here? Food, I know, but Iโve put (back) on a shocking 15 pounds since this time last year. And yes, I snacked last night, ice cream and triscuits with cheese. I probably double my calories. What has happened to me mentally/emotionally to make me/let me do this to myself? Maybe if I can figure that out I can get rid of these 15 pounds and then more. I know the mechanics of weight loss, so at this point itโs clearly a mental/emotional game for me. I feel just awful. No need for hugsโa kick in the pants would probably help more.

The last two days I have done the lower calorie & carb days of my zig-zag. My endocrinologist appointment (for diabetes) is Monday and I really need to show a weight loss and a glucose improvement. Funny how hard I will work for a Doctor but not always for myself. Hmmmmโฆ Just a little self-analysis. Anyway, I didnโt want the doctor to measure my noodle soup Iโve been eating. I wanted him to measure all my hard work since last fall. I still have a couple more days until the appointment. Maybe I can get it even better although the exercise space is getting more and more cramped. Today they are bringing the bedroom furniture into the very narrow livingroom. Things are about to get tough.

2/6 134.0 DH is feeling much better. I got everything unpacked and put away and am ready to finish a small bag I made at the retreat. I didnโt have fabric for lining and didnโt want to buy any at the retreat.
2/7 133.5 Back to tracking today. Starting over- 34 days until cruise. I slept hard and long last night, woke up with h/a and ache by my left shoulder blade. Headache is gone and I know the back thing will be fine.

2/6 - 133.8. Today's activity is strength training and dog walk.
2/7 - 132.8. That's a nice little re-start Yesterday I walked the dogs and did a 20-minute lower body strength class and 10-minute core. Sounds short but it was *enough*! Today will be a Peloton ride, dog walk, and hopefully some upper body strength training if I can find the time. This semester is hard for the dogs and me - husband and I used to take turns walking the dogs but he's been going to campus every morning. Tuesday/Wednesday he teaches in the mornings but he has other stuff to take care of early in the day the other mornings I guess. I hate when the dog walks fall on me every day when there are other areas of exercise I'd like to prioritize. Ah well, only 3 months left in the semester I guess.
2/8 - 132.6. Yesterday I just did the dog walk and the Peloton ride. Today is a dog walk and strength training. I'm getting a new-to-me Garmin watch today that will probably motivate me!
2/9 - 133.4, but I weighed after coffee so not sure how accurate it is. My birthday weekend plans got cancelled because my preschooler threw up overnight. No idea what the weekend looks like, but if this stomach bug continues to be as contagious in our house as it has been in his classroom (8 kids and 1 teacher were out with it yesterday), well, we're in for a rough one. It actually hasn't been too extreme for him, thankfully, but obviously any amounting of vomiting/diarrhea is enough to cancel plans! Hoping not to spend my birthday tomorrow driving the porcelain bus!

I gained weight last round so I will see how this round goes before deciding on whether to reevaluate what I am doing. I am eating 3 meals a day with no snacks and getting at least 22 active minutes in per day. I stopped counting calories last round and that is probably the problem. I feel the way I am eating at the moment is more sustainable but it is probably more of a maintenance strategy.

2/8: 162.0 lbs I have no idea where the whoosh came from. I have done nothing different from the last round where I gained. The scale moves in mysterious ways. If I maintain this weight until the end of this challenge I will be happy but I know the scale can go up just as easily.
2/9: 161.4 lbs I decided to skip breakfast and have 2 larger meals instead of 3. I know I was going to wait until the end of this round before reevaluating but I was just curious about whether I would actually miss breakfast or not. I did feel hungry at lunch time which I usually don't feel if I have breakfast. But after lunch I felt very satisfied. I am not sure if I will do it longer term. I will give it a go a few times before I decide.

REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
