Got in 4 this morning. Husband’s back has been hurting of late so we both just walked together today.
Taper week this week. Race day in 6 days.
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!10 -
Congratulations @Laurz9191! You nailed it!2

Nice running @martaindale . I suspect you are right about the Northerners being overdressed next weekend.
Nice race yesterday @daria0919 .
Nice run @tarun_yadavA .
Congrats on your PB for the marathon @Laurz9191 ! Love the race report. You did great. I can see how the relayers would be obnoxious and irritating for you. Glad you had so much fun!
Nice walk with your husband @daria0919 . I hope his back feels better soon.

I did a 1.25 mile treadmill walk after church and before lunch. Then, this afternoon I played league tennis. I played with one of the ladies from my home town that I play with quite a lot. We played really well, but the team we played today is one of the better ones. Fortunately, they are also one of the nicer teams. I really enjoyed it, but we lost 3 - 6, 0 - 6. Not sure what happened in the second set, but we still had a lot of duce games. The other two courts lost too. It was really hot today, 82F (27.8C) with 21 mph wind gusts. So, Windy was an unwelcome player on both sides when she decided to blow really hard, but actual welcome when she was calmer, because I don't think any of us would have managed the heat without at least a little breeze...going from 50F to 80F in a couple of days is hard!7 -
Amazing work @Laurz9191, that’s an outstanding result.1

School holidays have begun here so I headed down the line with the family for the weekend. We took the girls on a cycle ride through the Karangahake Gorge, stopping off for a history lesson at the old gold processing plant.
I haven’t cycled for ages and my bum complained quite a lot so I spent much of my time wishing I was running instead! Pretty though.10 -

I ran 10 miles this morning. It was really pretty out. It was windy, but that helped it not be too hot. It was 68° F at the start, and 75° F by the end. I ran on some dirt roads and some hills to practice for the trail race next month.
Congratulations on your race @laurz9191! That is an impressive improvement on your PR!

Morning all.
Shoe p0rn incoming!
Gone for a fancier model of Asics.412 miles in Asics Ortholite Gel excite 10. Being retired.
Wear and tear ->
So for whatever reason (well I know the reason - I wear an orthotic insole and I do 'over-proration'), I seem to wear out A LOT at the corners.
Causes over compensation elsewhere yaddi yadda yadda.
So I'm super paranoid about MCL and getting injured again.
So changed at 400 (well, 412... been away, been at Mums etc etc). Did a bit of googling and research... So Asics brand Gel Kayano 30 is meant to be good for over-proration.
Rolling the dice here. Double the price of what I usually pay... So here's hoping to it not causing me any niggles! 🤞🏽🙏🏽9 -
And on that note....
Cr-p
The Heavens have opened.
Do I really want my brand new shoes wet and slushy on day1?!? Urgh.
I guess 412 becomes 416 and changeover tomorrow9 -
Yep @tarun_yadavA I'd have made the same call. Good looking shoes. Hope they work out for you.1

6 miles this morning. Warm and windy, but a unexpectedly faster run for a Monday. Guess the weekend off helped.

They look great. I take a trip to the Asics outlet at gunwharf quay, make a day of it with the fam, never failed to pick up something that I wanted.6 -
I am so happy with the day and that I let myself enjoy the race and also had a nice race after all the training.
I'm thinking of the indignity a lot of new moms get: "Yeah, yeah, but where is a picture of the finisher's medal." And "Are you going to do it again?"
Great time, great PB. Mostly great determination after your injury of not caving in on your plan.7 -

27.81/90 Mile Goal
I ran 3 miles this morning. The temperature was a nice 57F and the sun was just rising over the top of the mountain when I finished. Details about my hiking weekend are in the spoiler below.
Nice looking shoes @tarun_yadavA
Your biking adventure looks nice @ContraryMaryMaryOn Saturday, our shuttle driver dropped us off at the trail head around 9:15 am. It was sunny but very windy. No wonder the trailhead was named “Wind Rock.” We planned on hiking 18 miles to a shelter site and camp there and then finish up on Sunday morning with 8 miles to the car. We reached the cut off to the shelter around 6:00 pm. It was closer to 19 miles than 18 miles. It was a steep half mile down off the trail to the shelter. We decided to push on to the car even though it meant hiking the last 4 miles in the dark with our head lamps to guide us. We reached the car around 10:20 pm which meant I got home around 1:30 am but I did have my nice, comfy bed waiting for me instead of sleeping on the ground. Not sure I would take this approach again as I was exhausted when I woke yesterday morning. Our total mileage for the day was 25.8 miles with 4,619 feet of ascent.
My hiking friend Olga crossing one of the streams along the route.
Most of the AT runs through national forests, but occasionally it pops out onto private property. This was some nice field walking.
After we decided to forge ahead past camp, we hit this stretch of trail that had us traversing a very slick rocky surface for about half a mile. It was along a ridge line with steep drop offs on both sides.
But the views...9 -
Yay! Congrats on a new PR and a well run race @Laurz9191
Amazing views @Teresa502
Nice looking shoes @tarun_yadavA. I would have done the same thing and held off for dryer conditions. No point in waterlogging such a pretty new pair of shoes!!

April total: 39.5 miles
YTD: 312.3/1200 miles
4/2: 5.7 miles
4/3: 3 miles
4/6: 8 miles
4/8: 3.3 miles
4/10: 6.5 miles
4/11: 3 miles
4/13: 7 miles
4/15: 3 miles
Hot and humid miles in the dark. This is about what I expect for the races this weekend. Slow and steady it is. My friend will be walk-running the 10k and I'm looking forward to getting to take it easy for that one.
I'll walk the aid stations for the 10 miler but try not to walk otherwise. The last few miles will have zero shade so I don't want to linger. It's hot enough without adding the sun into the mix.7 -

What a great active day @ContraryMaryMary ! You're girls are adorable. Very beautiful place for a bike ride!
Great 10 miles @kgirlhart ! Love how you are practicing on different surfaces for you race.
@tarun_yadavA Wow. You do wear out the "corners." Love the new shoes. I hope they work for you! Thanks for the shoe porn. Good call to wait to break them in when it's not pouring rain. Great run in the old ones.
Nice running @Scott6255 .
Great run today @Teresa502 ! Love your hiking report. It's a good thing you traversed those rocks before it got dark! That was a long hike/day. Beautiful pictures and views! I don't know if I would have gotten out of bed yesterday, if I had been you.
Great running @martaindale . Sounds like you have a great plan for the weekend runs. Lingering in the FL sun is not advised.

32.00/65 mile goal
Got up early and went to the gym. New thing I did was tire pull up the steep hill near the gym. I also did dead lifts at 70 pounds instead of 50 pounds. It was a nice workout.
I had to get a tire looked at because it was loosing air. It had a screw in it. Fortunately, where I bought the tires gives you free repairs for these things.
When I got home, I did a driveway walk and run. I walked half a mile, ran (with a little walking) one mile, and walked half a mile. Run was 13:25 min/mile. Not horrible for the driveway, after the gym.
I rested a few minutes and then went to mom's and mowed her lawn and barn lot. I used the riding mower for what I could and then push mowed and weed eat the trim. The not riding part was about 1h15m. It was 85F (29.4C) when we finished. Fortunately, there was a slight breeze which helped. Mom had push mowed for about 45 minutes while I mowed.
I had planned to mow my lawn too, but I was pretty tired when I finished, so mine will have to wait for tomorrow.8 -

4 miles for me this morning. It was a nice 59F. It is kind of cloudy today so the sunrise wasn’t as beautiful as yesterday but the skyline was beautiful.6 -
Great recovery run @kgirlhart .
Great run @tarun_yadavA . A little dirt never hurt anything. I hope the new shoes felt good and will work for you.
Thanks @Scott6255 . Great job on the sweaty miles.
Nice run and very pretty sunrise @Teresa502 .5 -
Got in a taper 5K this morning.
Did 1 mile yesterday on the walking pad just to stretch the legs. Halfway with my April miles.
Have been participating in RTY, clearly wasn’t planning on hitting 2024 miles, but have been aiming for 1200 for the year. Was emailed a video celebrating my 400 mile mark. It was cheerful. Link in spoiler, if interested.4 -
