I heard an interesting radio show that contained a segment about IF.
The interview was with a cardiology doctor who did IF himself and suggested it to his patients.
Then... there were control groups studied. Time restricted eating and balanced eating.
They were told that it was to lose weight, but that was all. Different than the mouse trials.
At the end of the 3 months they all lost weight, but the group that were IF lost muscle/lean mass of 66% and the other group lost fat.
So interesting. I will see if I can somehow find just the segment.
Of course the doctor stopped suggesting it as a weight loss tool, and stopped doing it himself.
These are the same, 13 minutes, one on youtube, one on CBC radio.

Hi!
I am Dawn. 63, 5'2"
I have been at this tracking for quite awhile, on this particular thread for 15 out of the 19 iterations of it.
I lost quite a bit (got to 130), but have been slowly gaining weight over the past 2 years despite my efforts.
Highest weight was 207. Began on this thread at 198 pounds
Day 01-04/10 - 146.8 - Nachos and adult beverages last night, so not surprised. Aiming to have a much better day today.
Day 02-04/11 - 147.8 - No sleep, up much of the night back and forth to the bathroom
Day 03-04/12 - 147.2 - Had a very stressful day with work schedule changes. Maybe a new chapter work-wise is about to start. Hope so. Working 2 jobs today with only enough time to drive home, change uniforms and drive to the next job. This is ramping down. A friend came over when I got off of work and we tackled my long pea garden. All tilled up, weeds out, ready for planting over the next couple of days. Job interview on Sunday, researching the company, updating my resume, and making a list of talking points.
Day 04-04/13 - 148.4 - Weighed but didn't have time to post.
Day 05-04/14 - 148.4 - Just now catching up on reading everyone's post. I had a job interview today so am not posting until now. I think that I got the job. Disillusioned with my weight, but didn't realize that today wasn't the end of week 1, so there is time. I have been completely on point with my input and output, so maybe I will get a woosh.
I ate the same things 2 days in a row and had similar calorie burn.
Day 06-04/15 - 147.2 - 2 jobs today. My 2 week notice to drop my line at the Long Term Care place has been given, as planned in preparation for my holiday. Turns out we got a raise there last week. My line is/was evening shifts only. I can pick up shifts there in the future if I need them, on a casual basis. The new job (that I think that I got) will be evenings only. It is a pub that has been closed, new owners opening up like this week although I am only available 2 nights per week until my other line ends, then just a few weeks until I go away. Lots going on with me. I have to keep my nutrition up.
Day 07-04/16 - 147.2 - 7 pounds higher than my 60th birthday. I haven't heard back from that possible new job where they are hoping to open this week. I had expected to. Weird to not go to my morning job today since the cutbacks. I leave for my other job at 3:30, and have only 2 weeks left of that one. I really wanted to get out for a nice hike today since it is so weird not going to work, but it is super windy, not pleasant to be walking with dust swirling around. Maybe I will just (begrudgingly) clean my house lol.
Week 1 Goal: 145.6 - My start weight from the last 100. Plunking this in each week until I hit it.
Week 1 actual weight: 147.2 - started the week at 146.8

Hi Folks! My name's Darin, and I'm an almost-45 year old woman from Holly Springs, North Carolina, USA. I've done a past 100 days challenge before and did really well with it (then regained the weight) so wanted to rejoin and try again. While it's frustrating to be losing weight that I lost already, I do know I'm able to do this, so at least there's that? It's so good to see so many familiar names and catch up on reading on y'all's lives
Starting weight: 176.7
Day 01-04/10—176.7
Day 02-04/11—176
Day 03-04/12—175.2
Day 04-04/13—174.6 Went to get a mani/pedi today which was lovely. Made a terrific seared salmon for dinner with baked potato and am stopping eating right now! No more eating. That’s it. or drinking. Let’s see how it goes.
Day 05-04/14—174.3 Succeeded with the no more eating last night. Also succeeded at moderation at an all-you-can eat buffet today (a ton of fresh vegetables and some fruit as well). Thus far the making good decisions is going well. But I think this downward trend is going to stop soon – I’ve lost all the water weight I’m going to lose. So now the work starts for real.
Day 06-04/15—173.9 Work kicked my butt today. Thankfully Josh and I walked this morning so don’t have to try to exercise right now. Just have to try not to stress-eat the entire fridge and pantry…
Day 07-04/16—174.2 Slight uptick but still met my goal weight so there’s that. Tough migraine day – had to take part of the day off from work today for bed rest. UGH.
Week 1 Goal: 174.7
Week 1 actual weight:174.2

@dawnbgethealthy
I just listened to that podcast while I picked up sticks in my yard. Very interesting. I always assumed if I fasted I would lose more weight and lose more fat. Thank you for sharing that.
Keeping a good thought for you and that new job.

My goal is to be proud of my weight loss.
Day 01 80.1 kg, I did my planned exercise but I overate a little bit (I'm tracking my intake), since I started tracking I've eaten out 4 times and I need to compensate for those times. I read "most people who lose weight will regain it within 5 years", I checked my old numbers and I'm 3.5 kg under what I weighed 5 years ago. I guess I'm in that category. I talked to my partner about my weight loss (something I'm trying to do less often).
Day 02 80.0 kg, I ate below my ideal which should help me recover from previous overeating. I did my exercise sessions.
Day 03 80.1 kg my eating is on track for the last 3 days but I need to recover from the previous 9 which averaged too high. I exercised and that's on track too. Disappointed that the scale is headed in the wrong direction but...
Day 04 79.4 kg a big loss today. I did a lot of walking, I had sugary food for the first time in 8 days. I overate. Recently there have been 6 days when I overate a lot, I had sugary food 5 times. Coincidence?
Day 05 79.8 kg just a normal day where I am good, no overeating and exercising is as required
Day 06 80.4 kg I started two personal challenges, I had some sugary food because I won't be having sugary food for a while, so on Tuesday I gained...
Day 07 80.6 kg my eating and exercise went well, still need to recover from the overeating episodes, maybe in 2-3 days that will happen
Day 08 80.4 kg

Hi!
I think this is my 1st time joining the 100days Challenge.
We are heading to a great Mexico vacation the end of July, so this Challenge will be great to get me swimsuit-ready!
I'm only 4'11" - so wicked short. Every 5 pounds mean a bigger dress size: Ugh.
Starting weight = 121.0
4/16 - did not weigh

Back for Round 3 for me! Hi, I’m Jenny – 59 years old, 5’6”, and reached my goal of 175 pounds during the last challenge. I’d like to give myself a little buffer so that even if I have a little gain on vacation I won’t go above 175 ever again! So am looking to whittle down another 5-8 pounds.
ENDING WEIGHT FROM LAST CHALLENGE: 173.2Day 01-04/10: 172.6 - Nice to see a drop already! I’ve been feeling a little hungrier than usual the past couple of days so I feel like my body is trying to nudge me back up. I ain’t goin’, so give it up bod! I am in charge!! Have been diligent with workouts the past few days too, so feeling good all-around!
Day 02-04/11: DNW – super stressful day at work, started at 5am and never stopped…no workout
Day 03-04/12: 171.0 – Ok I have a feeling there will be a correction next week, but I’ll take it!! It’s just so exciting to see numbers on the scale I haven’t seen in literally a decade! There’s a wedding we’re going to in August where the bride has requested everyone wear “sea glass colors” so I’ve been on the hunt for a dress and shoes – and I’m just so busy I usually try to order a few things online from a store I can return them to near me (so I’m not stuck with return shipping charges) , and the same with shoes…I can’t tell you how exciting it is to have dresses show up, try them on and they not only fit well but look fantastic !! Or if they don’t, it’s just because the style or color doesn’t suit me, not because I can’t zip the damn thing up. I used to call it feeling “struttable”, a made-up word I haven’t used in a VERY long time – but a pair of shoes showed up yesterday and I was strutting around feeling pretty hot for an old broad!! I hope nobody minds but I end my weigh-in weeks on Fridays, so will adjust my weekly dates. I’m just so damn happy and proud of myself!
WEEK 1 LOSS OR GAIN: 2.2 pounds lost
Accumulated loss or gain: 2.2 pounds lost
Day 04-04/13--DNW
Day 05-04/14--DNW
Day 06-04/15--DNW
Day 07-04/16--DNW
Day 08-04/17: 171.2 – Started a new job on Monday so have been a little stressed, but I’m feeling more settled now so was able to do a longer workout & stretch today which felt AMAZING. I love the alternating cardio/strength workouts, they are my absolute favorite! I have settled on a pair of shoes for the wedding we’re going to in August, and am kind of psyched because it’s a much higher heel than I normally wear but it’s the Naturalizer brand – so it’s stealthily comfortable! The arch support hits me just right which is imperative for my plantar fasciitis. My husband will be less thrilled because I’ll be taller than him, but that’s the price he pays for being with a hottie, ha ha!

Week 1 Goal: 64.8 kg.
Week 1 actual weight: 65 kg. Well, maintaining is better than gaining, I guess. Soooo hard to give up bread - I wound up eating cake. It wasn't because I was craving sweetness - I think it's the white flour I'm addicted to. Even then, the bread (the amount I ate) wasn't super high in calories - but the peanut butter and cheese and spreads that went on it! I think they're the real culprits. Perhaps if I stuck to bread and salad filling without mayo....?
No, rather I'm going to try IF. No eating between 8 pm and 12 noon. As long as I don't overeat in permitted hours - which I don't think I will as I dislike feeling stuffed - it should reduce the overall calories I'm consuming. It doesn't seem to work for me to try cutting out some foods entirely - I wind up either caving, or indulging in something else.
Personally, IF has been working really well for me, with a similar eating window. I also do a version of "calorie cycling" which I feel like has helped me a lot - it lets me indulge my cravings a couple days a week and still maintain. Mon-Fri I do avoid anything with flour (unless I really, really want it ha ha!) Sometimes trying a new thing is the "spark" that is needed!2 -

Sorry my post for today, the 17th is so long, but it's where I'm at in my journey right now.
Day 01- Wed Apr 10th: 175 30 min on bike; 5# wts aggravated sore shoulder so only 1 set of 12 for 3 movements.
Day 02-04/11 -- 176.4 Insomnia, only slept 4 hrs. finally just got up. Weigh in is skewed b/c already had lg glass of water. 7 hr road trip for appt 3 ½ hrs north.
Day 03-04/12 -- ?? can’t remember. Was early and didn’t write it down. Long 16hr day as we traveled to a funeral, then did a couple of other quick stops. A high carb day as I gave myself permission to have 3 bunwiches during our travels, then a sourdough dinner roll to go with my whiskey to relax down before bed.
Day 04-04/13-- 175.6 Expecting a wt bounce in the next day or two after yesterday’s extreme carb day. Now to totally focus on achieving some wt loss goals so I won’t feel like the old fat lady at the next ‘event’. 😉 I’m okay with that, it was/is what it is, but that doesn’t mean it has to be forever.
Day 05-04/14-- 177 (5:30am), Worked
Day 06-04/15-- 176.8 Worked. Snowing in the evening ☹ **sheesh**
Day 07-04/16—176.2 Just a skiff of snow but more’s falling this morning. Good grief!! Leg muscle seized when getting into car in a.m.; “touchy” all day. Right now the struggle is getting real. Sore, tired, feeling ‘stooped’;
As evening progressed, I reflected on “where I am at right now and Where I Need to get back to”. Dug out old WW “Success Handbook”; Listed 10 strengths; Set a new “Step to Success” goal ~ Food journal, not just recording foods, but using it to plan my next meal or snack.
Day 8, Apr 17th: 174 WW “Success Handbook” reminds me that “Motivation is a circle”. Top of circle is your most highly motivated state. As your drive starts to slip, it moves down and around to the right, like the nands on a clock. At the bottom of the circle is a less motivated state, where you may experience a plateau and start to disengage.
At the 9:00 or 10:00 position, this is an all-out unmotivated state. You may not care what happens anymore. May be gaining weight, losing hope, and perhaps even thinking about ending your wt loss journey. But the point is that even when you are feeling the least motivated, you are never too far from the highly motivated state.
The low point of motivation is very close to the high point, 12:00. That’s because the low point my trigger something – like weight gain, and in my case, pain and discomfort, -- that can kick you right back into the highly motivated state. So those times that you feel the worst are actually helping you get to your goals.
You can move around the circle in either direction; if you sense your motivation sliding down to 3:00, 4:00 etc, you have the power to nudge your motivation back up to the top of the circle.
I’m back at 12:00!!
Remembering that “A football game is won one play at a time, not one long pass and run to the goal line”. It’s like my QB has been badly sacked and “we’re down”. But the game is not over. Time for a new game plan, and to begin a slow march to goal, one play / choice/ day at a time.
Day 9, 18th
Day 10, Friday Apr 19th.
Week 1 Goal: 172 not going to happen. Would be happy with anything less than 174

Day 08 80.4 kg I had some treats and food I don't usually have, that's a negative, on the plus side I'm still exercising as I intended
Day 09 80.3 kg3 -
Day 8, Apr 17th: 174 WW “Success Handbook” reminds me that “Motivation is a circle”.
@Lynn__W Never apologize for sharing what you know or what you feel! I am so happy to have read your post today. Boy, oh, boy, it could not have come at a better time! I really needed it!

Thoughts:
Last round I had my normal goal of a 12 pound loss which is approximately 4 lbs per month. That comes to about 90 days leaving the other 10 open for special holidays and social occasions. In theory, it’s a good plan. In practice it is a Mountain to Crawl up. However, each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I can make, no matter how big or small. I am also grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.
PREVIOUS WEEKS THIS CHALLENGE:Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.
Day 01-04/10-181.6-(Trend weight 181.7)
Day 02-04/11-179.6-(Trend weight 181.5)

Day 05-04/14-181.0-(Trend weight 181.4)
Day 06-04/15-DNW-(Trend weight DNW)
Day 07-04/16-182.4-(Trend weight 181.8) This month is horrid. It is FILLED with travel which really hurts my bottom line for all the normal reasons (restaurant foods and sitting, sitting, sitting). Last week’s travel killed my progress and sent me spiraling backward and this upcoming week’s travel is even further, longer and worse. Let’s just hope I get a good report from the Cancer Center at the University Hospital as something suspicious is being reinvestigated later this week. It’s been a long 6 months waiting for them to re-test and compare. As many of you know, I am already a cancer patient in remission. I appreciate all the prayers.
WEEK 1 LOSS OR GAIN: 0.2 Gained
Week 1 Ending Weight: 182.4
Accumulated Loss or Gain: 0.2 lb Gain
Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.
Day 08-04/17-182.8-(Trend weight 182.0) I am still creeping up. Could it be stress? It just feels like sheer unadulterated and constant hunger. I am choosing the same meals I always do but they no longer satisfy. I’m lost. Foot is a little better but swells back up easily with the least amount of overdoing it. Today I travel to the new eye doctor. Diabetic testing and new glasses. It will be nice to be able to see again. It took me a minute to find a doctor who takes my vision insurance. Of course there is no eye doctor in our little rural town. Dinner and shopping afterward. The scale will not be my friend this week. I just have to try not to tick it off too very much.

Donna / DeepWoodsLady ~ I'm so glad my post helped. I often resort to the Football saying when I need to recover or end a "bad time".
Took extra calcium, wondering if that has anything to do with my muscle spasms. all drinking lots of water. Adding liquid iron supplement and Marine Collagen, all in hopes of regaining energy and ambition to get many at home jobs done so I'm ready for paddling once the weather warms.
Day 1 of no breads or crackers etc. OMG, it's wonderful, no cravings. { knock on wood}6 -

@jennysweet58 I had to look up "calorie cycling". Interesting concept, tho for the moment I'm trying to implement one change at a time. Trying IF first to see how it works best for me - my routine is a bit chop and change atm, so may need to figure out my own variant. Then once that habit is established, I will try introducing something new.
