Weight Gain

Hi! I’ve been using fitness pal for years. However I’ve been on a weight gain streak. Last April 2023 I was 148 and now I’m 166. I’ve steadily gained weight over the last year and I’m not eating an over abundance to gain that much. And every time I attempt to fast, eat in a calorie deficit, etc. I ended up not losing anything. I don’t know what to do. Every attempt I’ve seen no progress.

Your other thread from 2019 is pretty similar...and there are some good answers.

I guess I'd say for me it was learning to log food accurately (food scale, vetting my choices in the database for accuracy) and then - time. Time and consistency.

I'd guess you haven't been logging food nor stepping on the body weight scale consistently in the past year ?

So you gained 18lbs over 14 months? That's like eating 63000 calories too much over this time period, or 150 per day too much. That's really nothing. Calorie creep is totally a thing even if you say you're not eating differently. Just a bit more cooking oil, a bit more meat or rice and you're there. Thus log your food, every single day for at least a month or a full menstrual cycle. And if you've not lost anything then look at where things go wrong. And remember, you won't be losing weight every day, sometimes not even every week due to non-food related factors, like more water weight due to hormonal fluctuations, eating more carbs, exercise, weather, traveling, etc... types of clothes on the scale, time of stepping on the scale, bit of constipation, etc...
